Growing up, I hated my natural hair. TV and media gave me the impression that I looked messy and unkempt. It was engraved in me. I honestly struggled with it into adulthood as well. I'd been straightening my hair almost everyday from the end of elementary school to honestly just a few years ago. I hated pool parties and I would bring bandanas to cover up my hair so no one could see it curl back to its natural state. I felt like I had to have straight hair to even be considered attractive. I'm happy to say I know this is not true. I began learning this already, but I think me shaving my head completely bald and letting it grow naturally really helped me understand the beauty in my curls. I don't look unkempt and messy. I look strong and wild, like a lioness. I have a crown of curls that climb towards the sky with it's volume. It's soft, cute, and sexy all in one. @kittybeelv did a beautiful job capturing my crown and boosting my confidence even more 💕 anyone struggling with this or anything like this. You can alter your exterior to look the way you want, represent what you want, and be what you want. We have this freedom. As this year creeps up to a close, I can't help but panic about how fast life seems to passing by. I've learned so much about myself this year. I've learned more about my family.
