Global Game Jam ran January 29 - 31, 2016.

I was with the Machine Bear's team and friends developing Cute Evil!

The Jam’s theme was “Ritual”.

It was difficult to think about some thing with theme “Ritual”, but we think about day-by-day routine, indigena costumes, religious rituals, magician’s rituals, and so on. And we decide to a hardcore game, with a simple history.

You play as a girl that suffer some bully and decide to revenge this, by doing a ritual to cast an demon to help her. From this point is just blood and destruction in front of you! (We will receive zero on “Gandhi's Game” Diversify).

The team was awesome and the development process was really funny!

The LibGDX Jam ran from December 18th 2015 at 9:00 PM to January 18th 2016 at 10:00 AM.

Is not easy to develop a game with Game Engines, but develop a game without a Game Engine is harder. But that is a challenge that every game develop must try!

I was with the TechSchool Team (I must thanks a lot TechSchool to get this team of champions together), that is composed by game development and 3D modeling students from TechSchool.

The Jam’s theme was “Life in Space”.

We decided to develop a game about a alien that arise in moon and was trying to destroy the Earth! And you must be the hero, in the more insane way, and kill the monster!

The game finish with some bugs, and I forgot to post it before and ask for votes (I has rushing with every thing). But the experience was awesome! I must pratice more libgdx development, I will try to do it and post more content about it here!

From 28 to 30/08/2015 was happening the SPJam, a Game Jam at São Paulo, Brazil.

I was with Machine Bear’s Team and some friends developing the Other Eyes.

The Jam’s Theme was “Viagem”(Voyage, travel, trip, ...).

We decided to develop a game that covers various types of “trips”, that is: Go from point A to B, interdimensional travel, the vacation trip...

Other Eyes is about a girl that lost her dog and must go in a interdimensional travel to find the pet! Travelling between a paradisiac world and a crystal made world, you must solve some puzzles to keep going.

The Jam time was very short, so we can’t work much in the game, so it is very short, but we are thinking of get some days to finish the game. We develop the game with Unreal Engine 4, the low poly visual makes the game be very clean and beautiful!

Since December that I don't posted anything here. Motive: Producing Games!

From August to now, I has envolved in three game Jams: SPJam(August), Libdxg Jam(December-January) and Global Game Jam (January).

Random Movement - Now we have Brownian Motion... well, kind off.

In this example, I not add the random value generated directly to the position, but to a speed vector, that sets the position. The result is more movement, and also we see it more smooth, and not broken movement.

Some tests with Processing and Webcam.

I could capture left, right and top positioning of hand, but the botton is harder ‘cause the arm hinder a lot kkkk

With motion blur we have a suavization of the ball’s motion.

Test made with processing, with frame rate limited at 120 FPS.

With this technique we can really see the 20 FPS ball motion fluidly, and maybe the 15 FPS ball. This is an fake motion blur, but I think it works to explain the effect, in true, motion blur is an more complex algorithm than the one that I use to the exemple. 

As I say yesterday, there is the same test, but with different frame rates, and a line at the 128 FPS ball, to help comparing the motion.

Here, again, we can see that the balls above 24 FPS are shaking in relation to each other, but if you look independently, you'll hardly notice this.

The balls that are bellow 24 FPS you see like that they are teleporting, on the other hand, the balls above 24 FPS you see an fluidly motion. But if look closer and compare 30, 60, 90 and 120 FPS, that are above 24 FPS, you will see they shaking in relation to each other.

Lets take the 30 FPS ball as example, because I think that it is the easier to perceive. The  screen update rate is usually 60 Hz, that we can think as 60 FPS, in this case, for each second you will have the ball in the same position for 1/30 of a second, and the ball will appear as if jumping. But, if there is only that ball, you would hardly perceive this. Here you can find more information about the eye frame rate comparison:
