Self love isn’t only about being kind to yourself - more than anything it’s about calmly & compassionately examining your reactions to your world, reflecting on the things that make you angry or ashamed or upset and taking the time to pinpoint why - not by blaming others for the behavior that incited your reaction, but by delving into yourself, exploring your internal vulnerabilities, and identifying which were prodded by the external event that upset you. When we are affected by someone else’s words or actions we are most often reacting not toward that person at all, but toward our own fictionalized sense of inadequacy we feel has been brought to light by that person. Our bodies react violently to the perceived confirmation of our perceived faults - self love is all about challenging those distortions. I’m ecstatic that I’ve found myself ready to start that process again :)
