the vampire sighs heavily! shoulders shrugging, chest heaving, and then smooths his thumb along the bridge of his nose. "i'm not one to pass judgement, believe me ( he lies ), but maybe a little restraint next time for art's sake? a restroom would have been more .. agreeable, non, mon ami?"
he could have easily subdued the wretch, but he can't say he doesn't appreciate criston's spontaneity. alas. an idea sparks to mind! "come, then, to the latrines." and motions to the corpse to be retrieved. "i have an idea .." for humor's sake, and leads the way to the area of interest. "you could simply prop him up on the toilet and make it appear as if he strained himself to death." with a little washing up, perhaps.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤhe knows for a fact that even if he suggested it, lestat would indeed reject the position of janitorial staff. his mess, his responsibility to care of the body. – criston knows this drill all too well. at least he's not receiving an earful over the artwork he'd ruined during his moment of rage.

they arrive to the restroom where criston hear's the other's brilliant plan. brows furrow vibrant green gaze offers the other a once over. ❝ you've a sick mind – have you been told? you would have this man discovered and forever branded a pitiful death? we should just out ourselves. let mankind know the truth. perhaps then — there will be more sympathy and less ridicule. ❞

Name: lyra ysabel coldayne and symon erron coldayne
Gender: twins, so one of each but lyra was born before her brother
General Appearance: lyra looks more like criston in coloring and stature. she is tall and lithe, with dark brows that frame the violet eyes that she got from her mother. symon takes more after amaya with high cheek bones and softer lips and eyes. unlike lyra's violet eyes, symon has hazel hues from criston. both are strong from training with their parents and dragonriding.
Personality: the twins are similar in personality and are quite close to one another, with the only key difference being lyra is the undisputed coldayne heir because she is older and dorne does not distinguish on the sex of the child. in this sense, lyra can be more assertive and opinionated in public. while symon is similarly opinionated and stubborn, he keeps his thoughts to himself until they are behind closed doors so he does not seem to undermine his sister and this has led to a misconception that he is somehow quiet or shy. both have a mischievous streak and have a penchant for jokes in the family. lyra has more of a temper, but both are also chivalrous and honorable. lyra is also a bit more adventurous, but can frequently be found pulling symon into her side quests.
Special Talents: both are talented in blades and fighting, ride dragons, and have a deep appreciation for music (lyra will tell you she's the better singer and symon will insist he's the faster flyer). in terms of unique talents, lyra is an absolutely mesmorizing dancer (like stop and stare level of grace) and symon is just as good with a needle and thread as amaya is.
Who they like better: criston, but only by the smallest bit, because he rough houses and caves to the "just five more minutes!" requests. both twins love their mama though
Who they take after more: in terms of personality, they're both a good mix of the best qualities criston and amaya have. lyra takes after criston a smidge more because she is more hotheaded than symon, who in that case would take after amaya, but it's a good balance.
Personal Head canon: both twins are named after their godparents. lyra's middle name comes from amaya's former lady, lovingly called "izzy," who married a minor lord with amaya's help. symon's middle name, "erron," is for criston's squire who knew about their secret relationship and helped conceal it.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤhe's claimed her as a child of his own, months prior. the shock of the war has yet to leave either of them. so much loss, so much pain. and yet they survive together, far from king's landing and within the lands he once called home: dorne. she's always been a quiet one, but he'd like to believe over the months they've found refuge, she might be warming up to this new life. certainly the sun and warmth of dorne could do the trick, right? but if that won't do, then perhaps a new approach. he's never had children of his own and has only helped to raise others – but if there's one thing he's learned over the years: children generally enjoy sweets. which is why he's had her close as they walked the marketplace. (always sure to pull a commoner's hat over her head to conceal her targaryen features – as he's yet to find the heart to convince her they must do something with the color of her hair.) as they carried along, criston made sure to find only the best ingredients. and when they wold find themselves back in a small cottage they now call their home, he sets everything out on the table before them. ❝ haera – would you help me bake a cake?

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤhe was home much sooner than expected; so much sooner, his presence at the keep would not be needed for another few days. the gods must smile upon them. (why else would they be gifted time like this?) he'd gotten word to erron through a little birdie who was paid a handsome sum to keep to secrecy, and the job had been done well. erron must have reached his love in time, else she would not be here. criston clung to the shadows, watching the cloaked woman – but even by the shield of night could he make out the veil under the cloak. he waited until she was close enough — and quickly slipped from the alley he'd been hiding in to reach for her and tug her back to his place of hiding. but not without first covering her mouth and leaning with her against the inn's foundation. ❝ shh, shh. it is only me, my love. ❞ he waited a beat for their eyes to catch and grinned, releasing her mouth to instead frame her face. weeks since last he'd seen her. and now the gift to be with one another unknowingly to those who reside within the keep belongs to them. ❝ i've a surprise for you in our room, ❞ he murmurs, testing out the words. for as long as they've been together, a place has never belonged to them.

on a sidenote, chatting with @strnza while binging the originals and i've come to the conclusion that criston is a mix of niklaus and elijah coded. on the one hand he can be very volatile, quick to anger, murderous, with a sprinkle of charming. on the other, he's an honorable, loyal, romantic lover at heart who would do anything for those he loves. he's the best and worst of both packed in one.

i finished the borgias yesterday (masterpiece btw) and instead of tackling something new on my watchlist, i decide it's time to go back to the past and finish shows i never completed. so now i'm restarting the originals bc i never got past s3 and will likely fine tune my vampire au to include lore from this show eventually.
