Through A Needle || Jude + Kimberly
“Don’t call it what?” Jude asked gamely. “Your apartment? Your place? Your man-cave?” He chuckled as he followed her in. He grinned at her words. “There’s nothing in that goddamn wallet, I told you. Unless you want a photo of my niece, then go to town. She’s cute as hell.” He followed her up the stairs. “Thanks for that lunch, by the way.” He couldn’t help but wonder what to do with the rest of his day, now that the amazing food was eaten and the golden sun was setting behind the Earth. “So,” he said at last once they’d reached her bedroom, and his wallet was in plain sight on the table although he didn’t move to retrieve it. “Do you have any plans for tonight — or are you doing the whole ‘I don’t know anyone, I’m new and alone’ thing? God, I don’t even know what I’m talking about.”
Kimberly flashed him a grin at his last title, she liked it because it wasn’t conventional at all. The more bizarre the name, the more Kimberly was bound to like it. “It’s the least I could do.” She admitted with a shrug, not caring that much for lunch. She’d skip it tomorrow in order to pay for it, but there was no way she’d tell Jude that. She saw the way he looked at her, he thought she was okay. Kimberly didn’t want to ruin that.
She laughed, “It’s like you know me already.” She told him, going in to collapse on he bed, letting her aching bones rest for a moment. Then, she sat up and turned to face him. “No plans.” She admitted. “But I guess the possibilities are endless. I could steal the guy’s iPad from down the hallway, I think he has Netflix, I hear him talking about it downstairs a lot. Or.. I could come up with more to add to my tattoo. We could do some lines, or I could initiate a naked pillow fight.”
