I love the idea of dead gods. Not in the sense of “hey i killed something supernaturally strong” but in the sense of “i killed it and it’s still a god.” It is still worshipped. prayers are still answered. miracles are performed in its name, even as it lies pierced by a thousand swords and burning with chemical fire. even as it drifts through vacuum, decapitated and bleeding molten rock. in cosmic spite of being shot through each eye and hurled into a plasma reactor, it still radiates the power of the divine in a way that primitive death cannot smother. the nature of godhood is not so simple as to be tied to the mortality, or immortality, of any living being.

was looking in the back of my copy of frankenstein & there's questions for discussion .... one of them is 'in what sense is victor the creatures mother? is he a good or a bad mother?' like. ough. yeah. i gotta go lie down & thank about that now

starts shaking YEAH. victor is the creature's mother in the sense that he made him, he gave birth to him. but he's also the creatures mother in just the sense that sometimes moms suck and sometimes they project their negative feelings onto you and sometimes they regret giving you life. does this make sense

It was stupid good. So good in fact that the bbc filmed a version and put it on dvd when it debuted. I bought that dvd after I saw the show and put it up on the Internet Archive. The audio is not great but the dancing is spectacular. Ever see a pas de deux around an anatomical dissection? You will.

the thing is, i think horror needs to have a little love. it needs to have an obsession. does the parasite in your body love you? it raises you from the dead, it sustains you. this is its body. this is your body. does the haunted house feel intruded upon? is it hungry? what is hatred but adoration?
