"Into the Darkness" Ranma ½: Season 5, Episode 22 (1991)
Fun Fact!
Did you know that the term "hammer space" exists because of the Ranma fandom?
The concept of toons pulling stuff out of nowhere existed before Ranma, but the term "hammer space" itself was created and coined by the Ranma fandom since so often Akane would pull a hammer out of nowhere!
I was told, it's kinda wild, seems like the type of wording that finds its origins in stuff from the 50s like Coyote Time, not the 90s of all things
as you said, the gag obviously already existed from old toons, and also from Takahashi's previous works (hi Nagisa i love you)
But I suppose it's specifically Ranma fanfiction that caused the term to spread
I was about to mention Akane being the only one to use it is a misconception and even Ranma + other characters take it out sometimes but Wikipedia beat me to it (I love the "citation needed" still sitting there since 2007, I don't think you'll be getting your source buddy)
Ranma fanfiction also seems to have coined the verb glomp for tackling someone in a hug, even if it originally came from the official translation
... is the old Ranma fanfiction fandom of the old days also responsible for bluenette
whole ass dictionary we got there

Ranma is rough and terrible at expressing feelings, but he constantly shows his love by shielding Akane so he absorbs 100% of the damage (he doesn't want her getting even slightly scrapped) and anyone paying attention can see it
you can see with the sting, the look in her eyes and the stutter that Akane hit her head hard enough to be a bit out of it, but she doesn’t want to worry Ranma, who she knows just shielded her from an explosion and took on all the damage… if Akane has no fans is cuz I’m DEAD
ranma is always trying to shield and protect akane (he'll take all the damage while only caring that she's not getting hurt) while akane is always the one patching him up after he gets hurt
