❝ Damn. Now you do discounted drinks when I can't have them? ❞ Athena questioned with a small laughter coming from her lips.

❝ Animal attack. Everyone is just going to agree with that ? ❞ Alice got the text . It didn't take much to put two and two together . She wasn't allowed to examine the body or do her work . What was matt even doing out there at night ? ❝ curiosity truly killed the cat ❞ Alice blurted out the pun . In this case matt being the cat . Anyone who knew her , knows alice could be a tad bit interestingly morbid .

❝ What's your take on it? ❞ Athena questioned as she rose up a brow towards the Mikaelson girl. ❝ A little morbid.. That was my father-in-law. ❞

. ❝ ⸻ I'm surprised I even got invited to matty blue's funeral ❞ Katherine raised an eyebrow at the funeral invitation card in her hand with matt's best picture on it . ❝ those blue eyes will be missed ❞ .

❝ Wait.. let me guess, not Elena because she would obviously get one but.. Katherine? ❞ Athena questioned as she raised up a brow. ❝ Did you have any connection to him or April in their lives that it seemed important to invite you? ❞

It was disorienting to say the least. Visiting for brief moments had been one thing, but being back, and as himself? Weird. Landon felt overwhelmed as he found himself in the midst of a crowd leading to the town square, and the closer he got, the more he realized why. "You've gotta be kidding," Landon muttered to himself. Of course he made the deal and went home on the date of a town thing. A funeral at that, which had to be some kind of cosmic joke.

It wasn't abnormal for Athena to speak to strangers, in fact it was very common for her and to speak her mind. ❝ I'm soyrr.. I couldn't help but overhear. Kidding about what? ❞ She questioned as she stood back up from putting items back into her bag.

Location: Old Mikaelson Manner in Mystic Falls

❝ Damn! You got a big place there. ❞ Athena called out as she was on a walk with her daughter. She needed some fresh air instead of being cooped up inside.

Astra couldn't help but laugh because what she said was entirely possible, "You're right they probably do think I'm crazy." She hoped not in a bad way. There was enough bad thoughts about her family that she would hate to bring more of it.

❝ It's just like mad hatter, we're all a little crazy here. If you weren't then I would really be judging you and that says something. ❞ She grinned trying to make her feel better about it.

"You are okay with being trapped by some unknown person or people?" Guess that was denial was better than conflict. But Penelope did not like her actions being controlled.

❝ When you have a baby then talk to me because from what I see.. I'm already trapped at my house 24/7 right now with her. Full time job being a mom, not much travelling will be done. ❞ She stated with a light laugh.

"Admiring your own hair?" Quentin laughed as he leaned into Athena. Everything didn't feel so overwhelming when he was close to the two of them. "I think you'd look good with any length hair."

❝ You're hilarious. ❞ She found a smile when she heard him laugh. She missed hearing that laugh with the sadness that went around. It was a bad time to have a child but it was also a gift. ❝ See, you have to say that if you want to stay in my good books. ❞

Tyler had never really understood why Elena and everyone else seemed to get a kick out of graveyards before. Even with his own parents. But now, with this, it felt different. He had spent more time at Matt's headstone than he ever had at his father's. It didn't feel real. Matt, gone, and this time not coming back. Standing at his gravesite wouldn't change that, but he couldn't bring himself to leave.

Matt was her father-in-law, which meant something important to Athena because it was her husbands dad. Someone who helped him grow up into the man he was. She fought back some of the tears as she walked up to see Tyler still there. ❝ It doesn't feel real does it? ❞

"So is the fact we can't leave down public knowledge or are people just pretending they don't know what's happening?" Penelope asked. There was a third option in Penelope, though honestly it was worse than both the others, the idea the whole town thought this was the best place to be in the world and they simply hadn't noticed they couldn't leave or that the bridge out of town was now magically connected with New Orleans of all places. "And more importantly are people actually going to start doing something about it?" She asked, after all, Penelope was not one for sitting on her hands.

❝ I mean.. those who live in Mystic Falls probably wouldn't notice being the fact that they would hardly ever leave. ❞ She stated with a shrug to her shoulders. That and right now she was honestly still just stuck at home most days with her daughter being such a new baby and mentally trying to be okay herself. ❝ Me currently right now, hell no. I'm not going to do a damn thing but you can feel free to. ❞

"Too bad my hair's not long enough to help with that," Quentin said as he reached to tuck Athena's hair behind her ear. "But I can take one of the toys of her car seat bar for her to hold onto." She wasn't really playing with anything yet but she had a handle on grasping things and not letting go.

❝ What?! You mean to tell me you have short hair? Where have I been? ❞ Athena fake questioned with a half laugh as she smiled at the feeling of his fingers brushing her hair behind her ear. ❝ We can try and see if that works. Maybe I should just cut my hair shorter. ❞

"Don't worry, I do it all the time. I'm surprised more people don't think I'm crazy but I find myself an excellent conversationalist," Astra said with a laugh. Partly trying to make the other one feel better but there was some truth in it.

❝ Well maybe it's because you do it all the time that people know it's you, or they think you're crazy and just won't say it out loud to you. ❞ She laughed as she shook her head to flip her hair back away from her face. ❝ I'm a little crazy and hey, I'm cool with it. ❞

Astra was standing there texting on her phone when she heard someone speak. She looked up thinking they were talking to her and smiled as she as she saw the baby. Quickly shifting her gaze up to Athena, "I'm sorry, I didn't catch what you said."

Shaking her head, Athena lightly laughed, ❝ You're good. I was talking to myself and honestly I think I've lost it a little. ❞

With good reason Quentin wasn't looking like his old self as he seen around town. That was until he saw Athena with Sam. A smile came on his face as he walked over to them. "What are we doing today?" he asked as he had only caught the last part of what she said. His carefree smile on his face as he looked down at their daughter. "Whatever it is, I can do it if you're not up to it."

Right now was a hard time for Quentin and Athena knew that. They had just had their daughter and to have his father die around the same time was never ideal because it meant a day of sadness and celebration. It was a smile on her lips never-the-less as she looked to her husband. ❝ It's alright, Sammy is just in this phase of playing with my hair. ❞ She told him as she brushed her hair away so she couldn't anymore.
