You were invited to dinner on a “double date,” with Zach and Aerith. This was to celebrate their new baby girl. Cloud never was too fond of children, but atleast he wanted to come to the dinner.

It was a fancy place so you and cloud dressed more appropriately. You guys wanted be as dressed as nice as possible for the dinner. You two arrived at about 8:30pm.

Cloud opened the restaurant door for you, like he always did as he held onto you hand once more. You guys saw Zach waving to you two, signalling they were sitting there. Next to Zach, a carriage containing their 3 month old sleeping soundly in her carriage.

Aerith ushered over to you to sit and as you did you watched cloud’s eyes. He was staring at the sight of the baby, pupils dilating at her. He noticed you looking and he crossed his arms and looked away.

“Hm? Is there something wrong?” You ask.

“Nothing.” He replied.

Aerith noticed this act and laughed into her napkin as Zach nudged Aerith. You and Cloud sat across from them so it was easy for them see what Cloud was doing.

Cloud’s eyes flickered back at the baby and and to Zach. “So uh…What’s her name?” He asked with a sigh.

“It’s Aria.” Aerith said with a smile.

“We should order the food now.” You replied, pointing down at the menu. Everyone else agreed as they looked down at the menu.

“Get whatever you want.” Cloud told you, looking down at the menu.

You nodded, looking down at the menu also. You decided to get some pasta and some time passed by and now dinner was over.

Zach was holding his baby girl in his hands and the 5 of them were now in the parking lot just casually talking.

The night air was cool and the parking lot was lit by yellow lights. The group stood in loose circles near Zack's sleek car-its baby seat already installed and visible through the back window.

Zack cradled his daughter gently, wrapped in a tiny pink blanket. She stirred slightly, her little face scrunching as she began to wake from her nap.

Aerith hovered close to the baby with that warm maternal smile of hers, adjusting the blanket while you cooed softly at how cute she looked.

Cloud stood quietly beside you, hands tucked into his coat pockets again, but this time... he wasn't trying to look away. His eyes were locked onto the sleeping infant now blinking awake in the car.

A strange feeling he felt. What was it?

You noticed his staring once again. “Clouddd, she’s just so cute, isn’t she… She has hair just like zach’s!”

Cloud didn’t reply right away and his eyes were just glued onto her. “Yeah, she really is.” He replied, making Zach and Aerith laugh once again. Cloud walked up to the little one but your voice cut through.

“Hey, come on cloud, it’s time to go home.” You said.

But cloud looked over at you then back at the baby. The baby’s tiny hand was outstretched, fingers reaching out to him like she wanted to touch his face. He reached his hand out to her and to no surprise, her tiny hand wrapped around his ungloved finger. Cloud’s face softened.

Aerith giggled and Zach smiled proudly. “Oh ho ho, it seems like she got a favourite uncle.” Zach laughs.

The baby’s grip was so warm and no one had seen cloud look so tender. A small blush crept onto his cheeks.

“Oh he’s gonna be the best dad!” Zach teased. Aerith gripped Zach’s arm with happy eyes as everyone watched cloud swipe his hands in a playful motion, causing the baby to coo again. And when she laughed, a smile appeared on Cloud’s face, causing everyone else to laugh along with him.

The apartment was quiet. The lights were off and it was pretty dark in there. You turned it on as the lightswitch was right next to the door.

You went over to the couch immediately laying onto it. “I’m so full…” You say.

Cloud took his jacket off and put it on the jacket stand you two have. He walked over to you, standing over you on the couch.

The car ride back was pretty quiet but it was okay, you both were tired.

Finally, Cloud spoke. “Hey… do you.. Ever think about having kids?” He asks, sitting next to your feet.

You were caught off guard for a moment. “Hm? Kids?” You ask, looking up at him.

He cleared his throat once and quickly. “Like kids. With me, Like with me?”

“Oh kids,” You reply. “Yeah, I’ve thought about it.” You sit up with him.

“I mean, what do you imagine? Like a little kid? A house?” He said with some sort of newfound hope.

“Well, i just think of a kid… I guess…I never really thought about it much until you brought it up just now.”

“I guess today, I’ve thought about it more on our way home. The way she held my finger…I guess it felt right.”

“Hm? It felt right? Are you saying you want kids?””

Cloud swallowed. “Yeah, that’s what I’m saying. The way she was, and the way you looked at her, I can’t help but feel that way.” Cloud looked into your eyes, instinctively moving closer to you. “I want a baby with you, a baby with your eyes.”

You were flustered by the suggestion. “I… want one too.” You reply.

Cloud felt his heart rush out of his chest and he instinctively moved closer to you. As gentle as he always was with you, he kissed you.

He pulled back and spoke once more, “I’ve never wanted anything more than that.” Cloud smiled at you and kissed you once again.

Cloud's lips moved against yours with growing tenderness and passion.

His hands slid from your face down to your shoulders, then slowly wrapped around your back-pulling you gently into his lap without breaking the kiss.

You melted against him-the warmth of his body seeping through both of your clothes, the steady beat of his heart thudding under where your palm rested on his chest. You two leaned back onto the couch. He tilted his head slightly to deepen it further-a soft moan escaping him.

You pulled away for a moment. “Hey, hey, are you trying to have one now?” You ask with curiosity.

Cloud pulled back also, as he was on top of you. “Maybe…” Cloud dipped down again to kiss you. His hand was on the bottom of your dress, feeling the fabric as he kissed you.

Cloud’s hand felt higher on your leg. Cloud’s kisses began to become bolder. His bare skin brushed against your inner thigh. He pulled away from the kiss to look at you for approval, like he always did when you two did this.

You nodded and leaned into him. He started to unbutton his shirt as he still sat up on top of you. After doing so, he softly kissed your neck.

You had been a turk for nearly three years now. At the age of 20. Its been 3 years without cloud. 3 years you have seen your best friend.

I sat at the edge of my bed. My room was really nice, i’d say. To be honest, i wasn’t the one who maintained it so well.

Turk specialty, cleaning people come over and clean the room every afternoon. This was normal as usually us turks would be on missions out and about.

Tonight I couldn’t sleep. Every year that passes by without him is so difficult. Today was his birthday once again. August 11.

Damn it. I felt my chest starting to feel heavy again. In bed i laid. I hugged my pillow, burying my head into it.

I check the logs everyday. Every. Single. Day. There just has to be a time where i stop, right? I check them everyday to see if your name was on there somehow.

When you went missing, maybe it was easier then. You were on this big mission—but that mission was ultimately left behind! The whole squad was no where to be found. Not dead—but missing.

The hope in my heart never went away, maybe you’d be back. But i’d have to give up eventually, right?

I raised my head from my pillow and looked over at the desk next to my table.

I stood up to look at the picture frame on the table.

It was cloud and i, 4 years ago. Back when we were infantrymen. Not a care in the world. It was a photograph taken by zach, a solider who was with us on the mission.

It was a picture of cloud and i on a dock of a boat, our backs toward the camera, leaning our chests on the railing. Cloud was holding the ice coffee he’d always get in the morning and I had a kebab that was leftovers from the night before.

We were in the middle of talking in the photo and zach was on the bottom left of the photo. He had a peace sign out and on the left corner, no doubt zach’s handwriting, “photobombed!!”

We were all so laid back. So… peaceful. The work was hard, yes. But the company… nothing could ever compare to that.

Zach always talked about his girlfriend, aerith, who was back in midgar. And cloud always talked nibel, and a bit of tifa.

Just looking at this photo made me frown. Zach and cloud. They both went missing. I felt like i was an outlier—someone who shouldve went missing instead of them.

But that wasn’t in my control. Besides, i wasn’t on that mission they went missing on.

My heart, it felt so heavy. It does. Every year it goes by without you. This third year marks me missing you more than i loved you.

This was embarrassing though… it was so obvious he loved tifa, right?

Thats right. I never got to tell him—i love him. Loved him. I don’t even know if he’s still alive…

Does this feeling even reach him?—no… did he even feel the same way about me? What were all of those experiences back when we were infantry men? Was it all just friendly banter? I didn’t think that way atleast.

I wanted to spend as much time as i could and… for some reason it didn’t seem like enough.

Maybe he really isn’t missing. Maybe he abandoned this work—got a new identity, and he moved on. Maybe he moved on and i was the only one thinking about him.

It’s not like i have a home to go back to either though.

I have to learn to live by myself. If he’s still alive, i’m sure he’s not worried, is he?

This is embarrassing. I put the framed photo back onto my desk and let out a long sigh. I put the blanket over my head.

I don’t want to love without you, so, please. Come back home.

This is a one shot fluff with y/n but this is also directly from my ao3 and wattpad story! But it is with an OC instead of y/n!

Summary: You and Cloud are both 15, both infantrymen and in Under Junon. You two are friends and stationed together! You get your leg hurt while fighting a fiend near Junon and Cloud helps you get back over to lower junon. It was your guys’ only choice since it was gettjng dark out. But it would seem like it wasn’t the only thing that wasn’t your choice…

You hold your knee in pain. A fiend you and Cloud were fighting and shooting at seemed to have severely bruised your knee.

“Ah shoot!” You fall to the ground holding on to the knee that was just hurt.

“y/n!” Cloud yelled out, seeing that you were injured. He looked back at the fiend and finished it off and immediately went to your side. “Hey..hey.. are you alright?” He looked over your knee and tried his best to put some pressure on it.

“Y-yeah… it doesn’t seem like it’s bleeding actually—tch—it just…hurts..” you respond.

Cloud’s eye’s softened upon hearing your response. He looked around and saw that the rest of your group seemed to have went to upper junon for the night. “It’s pretty dark out. I think its been enough fighting for today.” He smiled.

You wrap your arms around his shoulders, and with a lift, he stands up, securing your legs against his hips as he begins the trek back toward the main outpost.

But the shinra post that was supposed to be supervising the elevator to upper junon wasn’t present.

“Dang.. where is everyone!?” You exclaimed.

There was quite literally nobody at the posts. Here, there were also the medical tents and there was nobody to be found.

“That’s what we get for being out late.” Cloud remarks in a sigh.

“Awe dang it!” you sigh, laying your chin on his shoulder. “Does that mean we need to stay in lower junon?”

“just for today, y/nickname”

“Sorry, kids. It looks like you don’t have enough gil for a room with two beds,” the innkeeper says, eyeing your worn infantry uniforms. “If you still want shelter from the coastal wind tonight, I’ve got a single queen room left. Will one bed do?”

Cloud glances back over his shoulder at you, taking in your exhausted state, before turning back to the clerk. “Yeah... that’s going to have to do.” He counts out the last of his remaining gil and hands it over in exchange for a heavy brass key.

The room is surprisingly cozy, dominated by a large queen bed made with thick, crisp linens. Cloud carries you inside and sets you down gently on the edge of the mattress before dropping to his knees in front of you to check your knee once more.

“I think you were half-asleep on the way here, but I grabbed a few medical supplies at the desk,” he explains quietly. He carefully rolls your trouser leg up past the swelling and begins wrapping a clean stretch of bandage firmly around your knee to stabilize it.

You winced a bit but that was normal. It started to feel a bit better now that there was some pressure on you.

“And uh… the innkeeper was nice enough to get us some new clothes.” Cloud said, pointing over to the closet. “They’re from the lost and found here but it should do.”

You nodded as you watched him open the closet door. “What do you want to wear?” He said letting you choose first.

“Uh… i’ll just wear the sweater and shorts.” You reply. You watched him take the two pieces of clothing out of the closet and place it next to you.

He grabs the folded garments and lays them neatly beside you on the bed. “I’ll go change in the bathroom so you have some privacy. Just call out when you’re done, okay?” Cloud gathers his own set of clothes and steps into the bathroom, shutting the door behind him.

You sit there in your the room taking a breather.

You change into the clothes he got for you to the best of your ability, all while staying on the bed. You threw your old clothing to a random of the room, just so it’s out of the way. You also put the provided blanket over your legs and laid back on the bed.

“I’m finished!” you call out.

After 10 more minutes or so, cloud came out of the bathroom. He took a shower and he was wearing more comfortable clothing.

He wore a black t-shirt that seemed a bit tight and some grey sweatpants that fit him just right.

You looked away quickly as you guys accidentally made eye contact.

Cloud spoke up first. “I…uh..” he seemed pretty awkward, but i guess with cloud its normal. “I’ll go to the front desk and get extra pillows and a blanket.

“Okay.” You responded as you watched him leave the room.

You took another look around the room. You couldn’t believe it. The person that you’ve liked since the first day of training—you’re sharing a room with!?

Before you could think any more, he cane back with extra pillows and a blanket as he said and he began laying it on the floor. “You can take the bed, i’ll be just fine on the floor.”

He was so kind. It left you kinda speechless and the only words you could muster was a “thank you.”

You two both start to drift off to sleep as the night progressed.

Cloud was a light sleeper and instantly woke up when he heard the sound of you shifting around in bed. He stood up to see what was wrong and he saw that you were sweating in seemingly having a nightmare.

He got up, turned on the lamp, and rushed to the bathroom to get a cold cloth. He went back to your side and put the cold towel over your forehead. And he removed a the blanket you were under slightly so one leg was out of it. It seemed to help so he went back to his makeshift bed.

He tried his best to be gentle, but that's not really a thing that he had practiced beforehand. He sweeped the cold towel across your forhead, and cleaned up any sweat or hair that was on your face.

But the moment he left your side, you seemed to start shifting around again. he looked back at you and sighed.

He sat next to you, looking at the pained expression on your face. You still managed to look so beautiful, even when you were in a state such as this one. He leaned back on your bed, next to you. He sat there kinda awkwardly.

He had his legs extended and his two hands on his lap as you laid, now peacefully.

There was a long silence.

…

Cloud’s eyes were starting to feel heavy now and he turned off the light on the nightstand.

He looked back at your sleeping body and he started to scoot in closer, putting an arm around your head.

Strangely enough to him, you rested right on his arm. He blushed to the motion but enjoyed it nonetheless. He watched as your chest rose and fell. He looked at you one last time and a smile came out of him. He put his other arm around you and pulled you gently to his chest, letting himself relax. Now, there was no need for that makeshift bed next to you guys.

The next morning you woke up first. The dream you had was obscene but you woke up to such a peaceful morning light. You looked over to your left and…

“C-“ you held back calling out his name. He was sleeping as peaceful as ever. He had such soft features that you didn't notice before. You decided to enjoy the moment together, not really questioning how you guys got into that situation in the first place.

The team had a day off today, everyone other than Barret, Jessie, and Biggs. They were off on some type of mission for avalanche and Y/N was to take care of Marlene while they were gone.

Y/N and Marlene were at the playground and Marlene was playing with her friends.

Y/N sat back at the bench. She sat for a bit but she heard some very loud footsteps step around her. She turned around to see Cloud talking to Betty.

"Can you help me find my kittens please?" Betty looked at him with the eyes to try and convince him.

"What color were they?" Cloud says. "

They're white!" Betty said with a smile.

"Got it." Cloud said. Y/N was watching the scenairo unold. Cloud confirmed the odd job with her and took a glance at Y/N before leaving.

"Y/N?" Marlene asked. Y/N was startled. "Oh my--" Y/N fully jumped from her seat. "W--woaaw you scared me Mar!"

"Sorry..." Marlene said sadly.

"What's wrong, Marlene?" Y/N says, sitting down again next to Marlene.

"Do you and Cloud know each other?" She asks curiously.

"I--uhhhh... No, we just met a day or two ago..." Y/N says, smiling nervously.

"Oh, really?" Marlene says tilting her head. "Why do you guys look at each other like that?" Marlene played with her fingers. "Like you guys know each other?"

Y/N looked at Marlene confused. "Does it seem that way, Mar? You know, Cloud and Tifa knew each other for a long time, you sure you don't have it mixed up?"

"I'm sure!" Marlene says confidently. "Cloud and Tifa have known each other but...they look at each other like...friends!"

"Are you trying to say Cloud and I aren't friends, Mar?" Y/N said confused.

"No, i'm trying to ask if you guys are--" Marlene gets cut off by Cloud who came back with all four cats betty asked for.

"Here they are." Cloud says.

"Thank you so much for bringing them back!" Betty says.

"You know what, Marlene?" Y/N says. "Why don't we go to Seventh Heaven and have a tea party!"

"A tea party?!" Marlene says with her eyes sparkling. "Yes!"

"Okay, lets go!" Y/N says, smiling.

"But Y/N?" Marlene says. "Can Cloud come?"

"What? To the tea party?" Y/N says, looking at Cloud.

"What?" Cloud says.

"You heard the girl, come to the tea party, merc!"

"2,000 gill." Cloud says, crossing his arms.

"Hey, you're joking, cut that out, you're coming, you're not busy." Y/N took Marlene and Cloud's hands and took them to Seventh Heaven.

Cloud and Marlene were seated at one of the tables with the very delicate tea sets of Marlene.

"And the princesses have to wear their tiaras!" Y/N says, holding two tiaras.

"Me, me!" Marlene says.

"Going and calling yourself a princess now, y/n?" Cloud says, jokingly, but it came out sounding serious.

"Uh... no? Its for you." Y/N says, walking over next to him.

"Wha--" Cloud backed his head away, denying the tiara to be put on his head.

"Pleaseeeeee Cloud?" Marlene says.

Cloud looks at her, slightly frowning, but ultimately giving in. "Fine."

"Awwww thank you, princess!" Y/N says. "I'll go get the tea."

Marlene and Cloud sits in awkward silence for a bit. "Cloud... I have a question."

Cloud looked at her, his hands in his lap, not really knowing what to do with them. "What is it."

"Why do you look at Y/N like that." Marlene asked, putting her hands on the table gently.

"Uhh... well..." Cloud struggled to get any words out. "I don't know...How do i look at her?" Cloud says.

Marlene frowned and thought for a second. "...Hmmm... like she's shiny," Marlene says, folding her little hands around the teacup. "Like when Daddy looks at something super important, not wanting to break it."

Cloud blinked. "Umm..." Cloud looked around the room.

"It's like.. You're trying really hard not to smile." Marlene says.

"I don't smile..." Cloud says, uncomfortably creaking in his chair.

"You almost did, when Y/N put the tiara! and called you princess!" Marlene grinned. "I saw it!"

"Hey. You talk a lot for someone who is your age." Cloud says.

Before Marlene could respond, Y/N came back with the tea, and Marlene's eyes lit up.

"One for youuuu..." Y/N pours Marlene some tea. "And some for youuuu..." Y/N pours Cloud. "Aw, now you two are both my princesses!" Y/N said with a grin.

Cloud stared at the tiny teacup in his hand. "I'm a merc."

"A royal merc!" Y/N said. "Would you rather I call you my merc? Is that what you're trying to say?" She sat down in the seat in front of cloud.

"Uhh.." Cloud was stunned, his face turning a slight hue pink, but Y/N didn't notice.

Marlene giggled, covering her mouth with both of her tiny hands. "Princess Cloud has to hold the teacup with his pinky out!"

Cloud looked down at the cup and took a little sip with a raised pinky. "Happy?"

Marlene giggled more. "Y/N, is Princess cloud staying for dessert too?"

Y/N glanced at Cloud and was failing to look serious while Cloud wore that plastic crown, that was so much less quality compared to Marlenes. "I dunno Mar, I think our guest has a busy schedule."

"I can stay for five more minutes." Cloud said quietly, adjusting the grip on his teacup.

"Thank you, Y/N! this is the best tea party ever!" Marlene says, putting her hands in the air.

Y/N smiled. "Anytime Marlene!"

The moment hung in the air until the Seventh Heaven door opened as Tifa and Barret walked in through the door.

"Oh, Cloud, I didn't know you were into this stuff." Said Tifa, teasing Cloud.

"Don't say that." Cloud said to Tifa.

"Baby Girl!" Barret said.

"Daddy!" Marlene said, running into Barret, who was hugging her. "Someone had fun." Barret said as he saw the tea party set up.

"Yes, yes! it was so fun!"

Y/N laughed at Cloud. "And look at you, you babysat with me after all!" Y/N says.
