I love the image Polaroids capture. There's no do-overs and we accept the picture as it is. Perhaps it's more genuine. But anyway taking these photos with some amazing friends was like chicken soup for my soul. I can't believe I'm loved by these girls. Thank you Lord for their friendship and encouragement. And it was so great to have Annie back from Korea!

The name this delicious concoction is given in my cookbook is "Ultimate Indulgence Mirror-Glaze Cake" and oh my gosh it was! My daily sugar intake spiked 110% when I ate a piece but it was worth it, especially because I got to eat it with friends! Sometimes 5-hour baking projects are oh-so-worth it. 🍰☕️😋

Nothing better than a morning of chocolatey espresso banana pancakes. Especially when the recipe is my own creation! 😋 There are so few things pancakes can't make better. The job is unsatisfying, the community is sparse, and decisions are hard but pancakes are ALWAYS there to comfort. #odetopancakes

Just writing things down that make me happy and brainstorming how I can incorporate these into my daily life brings me a surprising amount of joy. Also I've always wanted to journal and blank pages freak me out. Anthropologie is an expensive store but I felt I needed a pick-me-up. Traveling around Chicago has been great so far but it fills me with so much shame. I'm ashamed I have the opportunity to travel. I have shame for having money to shop at places like Anthropologie. For having a college degree. For being healthy. For being able to choose what I eat and where I live. Even stupid things like having time to do yoga. I'm so ashamed all the time. But I'm trying to remind myself these thoughts aren't from God. He does not fill me with so much guilt that all I can do is curl up in a ball of shame. I'm no use to him that way. I've received an incredible inheritance as a middle-class citizen of this country, and I should use it to glorify God and bring joy to others, not run away from it. So here's to lists of happy things, cute purchases, and claiming the kingdom.
