The SkyFix removes “walls” that made sun, moon, stars, meteors (in Seasons+ coding) and neighborhood skyboxes (in Nightlife+ coding) not visible on lots. This mod makes it possible to create a skybox that is not covered by the fading horizon (thanks to Lowedeus for the solution to this problem). See screenshots for a simple explanation.

Installation If you have an old version of this mod (simNopke-skyFix-xxx), delete it first. There are 4 versions of this mod. You need to choose only one – for the newest expansion pack you have installed. Note that Mansion and Garden Stuff is treated as an expansion pack 9 and other stuff packs – as an expansion pack 4.5.

simNopke-skyFix2-EP6 – Bon Voyage or any newer expansion pack or Mansion and Garden Stuff

simNopke-skyFix2-EP5 – Seasons, or Seasons and any stuff pack except M&G

simNopke-skyFix2-EP2 – Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets or any stuff pack except M&G

Known bugs None caused by this mod, but there is a bug you can’t see without the SkyFix in Seasons or newer EP: double sun and double moon.

Conflicts Pineapple5050’s TS2CustomPostEffect. The SkyFix does not affect camera mods.

For creators of skyboxes Lowedeus made a list of values related to layering elements on the sky. If you want to create a skybox that is properly layered and compatible with the SkyFix, you need to use the following values for the stdMatLayer parameter in the material file of your skybox:

-5 – sky

-4 – astronomical objects, aurora, cirrus (or other background) clouds

-3 – cumulus clouds, planes, other objects

-2 – horizons

Unfortunately, Maxis sun, moon, stars and meteors are on higher layers, so they are drawn after skyboxes.

The Bookshelf - CC free, 1x1 community lot. Built with the Ultimate Collection. Tested and everything works as it should (though the bathroom doors will get stuck open because those rooms are so small). As an un-owned business, Sims can buy magazines, drink coffee, play chess, and read of course. There’s a snack machine, too. I haven’t tested it as an owned business but I think it would work well. That way Sims can actually come and buy books!
