im still watching all the new anime this season but honestly none of them are great itâs all pretty lackluster so far and it probably didnât help that i watched this one first
Shibatora is a police genre manga. (Thereâs also a live action Drama series. Both are good but the manga more so.) ((The art is also really nice.))
The main character, ShibataTaketora (hence Shibatora), looks like a middle schooler (he is offended of course because he thinks he looks like a high schooler at least) but is actually an adult cop who wants to join the juvenile crime division to help kids before they make mistakes they canât undo. Because of this, the chief of police forces him into undercover cases as a student (which is illegal but she is very⌠convincing) and so hijinks and emotional drama ensue. Oh also, he can see âthe hands of deathâ so when he sees ghostly hands on someone heâs met, that means they will die in 24 hours unless he stops it. (Gotta have that supernatural flare amirite?)
I will warn though, with the whole cop genre and âhands of deathâ thing, there is adult subject matter like abuse and such. Just keep that in mind; donât want people to think itâs all comedy, haha. God, heâs so small.Â

I had the same problem with b stray dogs and I think I figured out why. They have unique designs and powers, but almost every character is a bog standard archetype. The ones that aren't, don't get any development! Atsushi in particular
gosh i am really glad iâm not the only one.Â
i was so excited to see Atsushi in action most of all and itâs only happened about 3 times in 9 episodes. he hasnât really... done much. like heâs helped out i guess but not in anyway iâd expect a main character to.Â
itâs just really a shame because if these characters werenât so standard and blank i think i would really love this anime but iâm just not interested in the characters nor the plot. iâm just interested in the cool powers and yet it feels like i barely get to see them.
interesting main character Atsushi that keeps bringing up his traumatizing past and normally iâd find that important but it just doesnât feel like thereâs any real weight to it and almost feels like an excuse just to keep this character weak? i really donât know how to explain what bugs me about it.Â
interesting mystery character Dazai thatâs honestly problematic with the suicide fetish and yet is the only one that hasnât annoyed me yet somehow
DoppoKunikida: uptight yeller, stickler for the rules, i was originally interested in his character and now i just donât care?
Akutagawa: mr. bad dude cosplaying as a vampire but i love his power
Junichirou: cute kid too bad we havenât seen him much
Naomi: walking talking brother complex, makes me feel bad for his brother, annoys me, literally the next time she says âoni-chanâ im dropping this show like i got 3rd degree burns
Ranpo: the detective. give him a detective cliche outfit so you remember heâs a detective. listen i love detectives but i donât like ranpo. iâm actually not sure why heâs in the show?
Yosano: hyper aggressive scary healer. i actually find her sort of interesting.
Kyouka: it took 9 episodes but i found a character i actually want to know if sheâll be ok
Kenji Miyazawa: seems like an important character and yet i have 0% info on him i just see him around which is a shame because heâs the only character whoâs design i really likeÂ
i really really wanted to like b dogs esp since i LOVED the 1st episode but reading the manga afterwards made me tired and then watching the anime made me tired except for about 3 different moments. iâm going to finish it regardless because i really want to like it esp since i love super power anime like this but i really really wish it would focus on the action more since i canât care for anyone
i really wanna like B stray dogs but i just do not care at all about any of the characters except maybe two of them. iâm more interested in their special abilities than any of these characters or what happens to them and it almost feels rare to see them in action. theyâll focus too much on building these other characters and by the end i still donât care about them and iâm just frustrated because i feel like my time was wasted.
i was actually excited when a character i hated was gunned down and annoyed to find out they survived.
kekkai sensen was a wild ride but i loved every single character and would actually be sad when i wouldnât get enough info about someone. tell me more about the bandaged butler that drives them around. whatâs his favorite food? what does he do on his free days? tell me everything. tell me about KK and steven and i donât know anything about neyka yet. i need more.
kekkai sensen made me cry about hamburgers and a character that was only in one episode only.

this made me hope she died from her wounds rather than feel any emotion because i hated that her entire character was a one sided brother complex and it was from an important plot relevant episode
this made me an emotional wreck and i still think about it and it was a one episode story and basically a filler
