So the night vale nation gc thought up a howl's moving castle au a while back and. and well <3

remember when you listened to welcome to night vale for the first time and you were really confused but also intrigued and then just when you were finally beginning to understand whats going on cecil mentioned "the weather" and you thought it would just be another weird poetic segment but then. but then !!! a song started playing. and it literally changed you as a person

I've been re-listening to WTNV from the very beginning, and imagine my shock when in one of his pre-episode updates, Joseph Fink tells us that Welcome to Night Vale's tour will be making a stop at... DashCon.
I nearly dropped my coffee.
They had no idea
The promo occurs in the episode 39- The Woman From Italy, among others.
In case you guys don't know the lore of dashcon, and Night Vale's role in the Ball Pit story, here are some articles.
Dashcon was a convention for tumblr users, organized poorly, which developed into disaster. The con's organizers couldn't afford anything they'd promised when turnout was less than 1,000 people.
Welcome To Night Vale was set to do a live performance and panel, but at last minute were stuck with the hotel room bill among other things, and were not to receive promised pay. As a result, Night Vale pulled out, not able and willing to pay for the trip themselves. Dashcon refused to refund guests who had bought wtnv tickets, but did give disappointed fans a free hour in the ball pit. The infamous, Dashcon ball pit.
All in all the poor planning of Dashcon left WTNV in a really tricky situation, leading to wtnv pulling out. Having a large guest pull out of an already disastrous con really was the final nail in the coffin, with guests, vendors, organizers and acts all taking psychic damage and financial losses.
