INDIAN HANDICRAFTS IN GLOBALIZATION TIMES!!
"WEAVERS, weaving at break of day,Β
Why do you weave a garment so gay? β¦Β Blue as the wing of a halcyon wild,Β We weave the robes of a new-born childβ Β -Sarojini Naidu.
Thousands ofΒ hand-looms and Β tribal jewelry makers across India have become silent in the last few years. TheΒ centuries-old art of weaving is dying a slow death because weavers are unable to make ends meet.
Clad in nine yards of stunning Indian handloom,Β Vidya Balanhas branded herself as the quintessential Indian beauty today. The Sabyasachi saris that transformed her from a fashion disaster to an elegant diva, sell like hot cakes.Β Hyderabadidesigner Gaurang Shahβs handwoven saris that are adorned by the likes ofΒ Tina AmbaniΒ and Kirron Kher are priced at anything above a neat `1,00,000. Such is the demand of Indian weaves and handloom, that our designers take great pride in showcasing them atΒ Paris,Β MilanΒ orΒ New York. And each piece of cloth has a story to tell. But dig deep into the tale of Andhra Pradeshβs looms and youβll find nothing short of a tear-jerker. And Puttapaka weaver Shravan Kumarβs is one such sad story.
** Back home inΒ Andhra Pradesh, weaver suicides continue due to abject poverty and lack of avenues to better their living conditions.
** Handloom weavers and their family members may from tuberculosis in Uttar Pradesh. Due to poor living conditions.
Β ** Β PabitraΒ Brahma(name changed) 25, is one of more than 25000 migrant women, mostly from the Bodo Tribe, who migrate seasonally to Sualkuchi, the largest silk village in lower Assamβs Kamrup District, to work as a contractual weaver. ago. Like most of her counterparts, Pabitra is unmarried and lives in cramped rented dormitories in conditions that are far from congenial or healthy.
**Β Ram Kumar, a weaver from West Bengal, says the demand is low; hence they are forced to produce a limited stock.Β "People are very specific in terms of design and style; hence handloom textiles donβt attract them much. So, we either make garments inspired by Western designs or wait for the stock to finish.
**Β "The Handloom Reservation Act needs a complete makeover. Today a majority of the items covered under this act are made by the decentralised powerloom sector. Though the government tried its level best to prevent the powerloom sector from producing such varieties, they failed to enforce the same," Singha said who works with about 200 weavers.
**Β Imagine an India without Brocade, Jamawar, Ikkat, Chanderi, Dhakai, Maheshwari, Jamdani, Kota Doria, Baluchari, Paithainai or Pochampalli. Imagine never having a hand-made piece of clothing ever.Β
** The hand-loom is an ancient industry in India and its use varies throughout the region, in some parts of Kerela, Tamilnadu, Assam and Orissa, it has become a mature industry, while in other parts it is still used primarily as a household staple.
**Β Even the Chinese have jumped on the band wagon producing machines made sariβs that are sold by dishonest dealers as the real thing. Indian weavers say they canβt compete leaving many looms to fall silent.Β
**Β wilderness the hand-loom industry is in dangerous decline impacting the livelihoods of the weavers and also instituting an artistic bankruptcy for future generations!!
Therefore, It is my deliberate decision to knock-off the lost Art of India, Β I am taking anΒ acquaintance to makeΒ zoeticΒ Hand-loomΒ Industry andΒ ethnicΒ handwork of ourΒ blotted out Artists across India and Internationally!!

Laugh at your own jokes and cry at your snags!!!!
Β Β I have found a secret of Psychology of "Crying"!!! Β Laughing and crying are very similar and derived from the same source, they both look and sound alike, and they serve many of the same functions. There is one significant difference, however, that makes laughter more powerful than tears; but its opposite power of attraction, like Black=White Β :)
The laughing/crying connection continues. We often find tears screaming down our face during gales of laughter, and frequently hearty laugh emerges after we have had a good cry. Even facial expressions are similar; sometimes it is hard to tell whether someone is laughing or crying.
The last time you had a good cry you probably felt drained, but you probably felt better. Chances are, you also felt this way after a hearty laugh. The reason for this is another association between crying and laughter: Each provides a powerful cathartic cleansing. Each is an important mechanism for releasing stress and tension.
Tears of sorrow and tears of joy seem to be related too. Dr. William Frey II, a biochemist from Minnesota and co-author ofΒ Crying: The Mystery of Tears, has found that emotional tears contain a greater concentration of protein than tears that are produced by other means, such as from cutting an onion..... :))))) Β not out of Depression....NAH :)))))
He also speculates that tears of laughter serve the same function as the tears of sorrow. In other words, laughterβs tears may also carry away harmful toxins from the body, and the suppression of them, as in the suppression of emotional tears, increases our susceptibility to stress-related disorders.
But in spite of all the similarities, there is one big difference between laughter and crying: Laughter helps us transcend our suffering; crying does not.
Tears of sorrow focus only on one aspect of our loss: our pain. They emphasize the seriousness of the situation, bind us to our suffering, and narrow our vision.Β we can allow some humor to be part of our pain, we are not as directly involved in our suffering.
Suppressed tears can linger and continue to cause problems for a lifetime; it can be detrimental to both our physical and mental health.Β
Crying is important and should not be suppressed. But at some point in our upsets, in our pain, continued crying may not be the healthiest thing for us. Its begin to put what we cry about in perspective so that we can get on with out life. Tears cannot do that. Humor can. When we can allow some humor to be part of our pain, we are not as directly involved in our suffering.
