Ok, Iām back at itā¦4 years of keto/low carb/ exercise and Mounjaro and Iāve made a decision
I lost close to 50 lbs on Mounjaro, then there was a shortage from January to August- where I gained 65 lbs back. My doc bumped my dose and prescribed 90 day supply at a time. Almost 2 months in and Iām down 15 lbs.
So frustrating
I also looked into gastric bypass this pastJune. I picked a surgeon and decided to start the process in August. I finished my required classes and tests. I get a surgery date this week. Fingers crossed.
This is not the easy way out. Iāve had a metabolic disease since I was 12 and it causes me to gain massive amounts of weight in a short time, even with diet and exercise. This has lead to hypertension and diabetes.
I needed this!

I didnāt weigh myself, I was in a rush this morning. I slept good, feel good.
Just had my morning protein shake and I burped a tiny burp and it reminded me of dinner (leftovers- manicotti) eww.
I wish I was home today. My boss is irritating me. ļæ¼

Mounjaro - Hunger
Woke up this morning, day 4, Monday feeling hungry. A little bummed. Thought this was supposed to hold you over longer. I will have to see how I feel during the day. Curious to see how the second shot on Friday has me feeling.

Mounjaro - Week 1, Day 1
I was so nervous to take my shot this morning. I made the mistake of looking at the needle. I called for my husband and he was more than happy to help. Glad to report that it didnāt hurt.
Itās noon and I have not had hunger pangs! The medication gives me the same feeling of being on Aderall, meaning, it curbs my appetite AND helps with impulse control.
So far the only side effect is thirst.
My fasting blood sugar was 269 this morning, and after eating an hour ago itās 160!
I prepped for this med by eating light a couple of days before my first shot, people said that it lessens the potential side effects. I read to chew everything to absolute mush - gross, but realized that might have not been chewing enough. This is supposed to help digestion.

MOUNJARO WL JOURNEY
I just got notification that my prescription is ready to pickup. Nervous and excited.
SW: 342.9
Goal: HEALTHY
I ate light today, had a feeling it was going to get approved. I read that eating light the day before is key to lessen the side effects felt on day 1. I will be taking my first weekly shot tomorrow morning.
For the first couple of days I plan on protein shakes and small meals or snacks. Increasing water intake. This medication slows gastric emptying, so I need to be mindful of what I eat.
