Breathe deeply, until sweet air extinguishes the burn of fear in your lungs and every breath is a beautiful refusal to become anything less than infinite.
D. Antoinette Foy
youâve gotta stat romanticizing your life. you gotta start believing that your morning commute is cute and fun, that every cup of coffee is the best youâve ever had, that even the smallest and most mundane things are exciting and new. you have to, because thatâs when you start truly living. thatâs when you look forward to every day.Â
âTo laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.â
â Ralph Waldo Emerson (via wordsnquotes)

âSomething in me wants more. I canât rest.â
â Sylvia Plath, The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath
âI believe it will have become evident why, for me, adjectives such as happy, contented, blissful, enjoyable, do not seem quite appropriate to any general description of this process I have called the good life, even though the person in this process would experience each one of these at the appropriate times. But adjectives which seem more generally fitting are adjectives such as enriching, exciting, rewarding, challenging, meaningful. This process of the good life is not, I am convinced, a life for the faint-fainthearted. It involves the stretching and growing of becoming more and more of oneâs potentialities. It involves the courage to be. It means launching oneself fully into the stream of life. Yet the deeply exciting thing about human beings is that when the individual is inwardly free, he chooses as the good life this process of becoming.â
â Carl R. Rogers, On Becoming a Person: A Therapistâs View of Psychotherapy
âThe simple fact is that people who achieve excellence in their fields didnât just have a dream. They got up at 4:00 am to practice on parallel bars or had to forgo other desirable activities and paths in order to get in six hours of violin practice a day, or stayed off several million absurd writing advice blogs with their overheated little cliques that dispense useless regurgitated maxims and empty praise and decide to actually confront their own thoughts on a page. Or they read Beowulf and Dante carefully and deeply when they didnât see any point, since all they were interested in was Sylvia Plath, because someone of more experience and wisdom told them to do so. I donât know whether weâre overly lazy, stupid, or childish these days. But the idea of preparing oneself for excellence has somehow disappeared. So â my advice to dreamers: Donât just follow your dreams. Earn them. Do what it takes to achieve it. Work for it. Donât just sit there and dream because if you do, it will never, ever be yours.â
â Harrison Solow, Donât Follow Your Dream (via crimsun)

A powerful but benevolent water spirit lives here.
âWeave, weave the sunlight in your hairââ
â T. S. Eliot, excerpt of âLa Figlia Che Piangeâ (via herhoneydress)
I love how nature simply is. It doesnât pretend. It doesnât conceal. It whispers, it sings, it reveals. It takes from itself and gives abundantly back to itself. It transforms but it never alters. It fiercely punishes but it also preserves and contains. Such raw magnificent simplicity and honesty in its processes. The entire verb âto beâ freely flowing and teaching sustenance, truth and raw perseverance.

Donât dismiss the elements. Water soothes and heals. Air refreshes and revives. Earth grounds and holds. Fire is a burning reminder of our own will and creative power. Swallow their spells. Thereâs a certain sweet comfort in knowing that you belong to them all.
