The Mariners are Unreal after Sharknado Comes Out

Sharknado 3 hits SyFy Wednesday at 9 PM ET, and no team should be more excited for the release than the Seattle Mariners.

Of all teams in MLB, one of the clubs with an aquatic theme has performed the best following the premiere of the sci-fi films. Then, in second place, there’s a team located inside of tornado alley.

Here’s a complete look at the standings following the release first two Sharknado movies:

In general, teams with aquatic names (the Mariners, Marlins, Rays, and Pirates) are 56-34 (.622 Win %) and rest of baseball is 283-305 (.481 Win %).

The Mariners are currently in last place in the AL West, 10.5 games behind the Los Angeles Angels. It wouldn’t shock me if they made a run in the next 14 days.

Mike Trout’s Stats, Based on Airplane Emoji Use

It doesn’t matter how you split Mike Trout’s stats. The numbers will always show he is good at baseball whether he is facing a lefty, playing during the day, or serving as his team’s Designated Hitter. With that said, there are certain scenarios in which Trout performs incredibly, and some where he plays only marginally above average.

Said scenarios don’t have to do with the opposition, or the Angels’ lineup, or even the day of the week, though. They’re centered around the behavior of the 23 year-old center fielder on Twitter.

J.R. Smith Plays Better After His Favorite Rapper Releases a Project

J.R. Smith’s career has been one giant roller coaster. He’s had remarkable stretches, one of which even won him the league’s Sixth Man of the Year award in 2012-13. He’s also been known his team out of games time and time again.

One thing remains consistent about J.R. Smith, though - his play when Lil’ Wayne, his favorite rapper, drops a mixtape or album.
