And now, all of a sudden, there's a gossip blog—one that used to post very rarely or share boring stuff about Will—and suddenly it's getting insider info??? That's almost certainly just because the bigger blogs don't want to talk about the topic anymore.

I’m almost positive Will didn’t catch him doing it! What a shame, because I would’ve loved to see his reaction. It does look like Mack braces himself for a poke/shove or something from Will, but I don’t think his intention was ever to actually get him mad or riled up. If anything, I think Mack would hate getting a genuinely negative or annoyed reaction out of Will, even as a joke.

In my mind palace, Mack cares far too much about Will’s approval and unconditional high regard for him to risk it for a cheap laugh (an actual argument/fight is obviously a whole other thing and doesn’t apply here). To me, Mack is the definition of a proud male peacock. He knows he’s the fairest in the land, and he’s selected (platonically or romantically) a mate to whom he gives his very best performance, on and off the ice. What he wants from Will isn’t irritation; it’s his undivided attention, admiration, and delight at his grandeur. I only threw this party for you, playing on a loop in his head forever and ever.

Had Will actually seen Mack do it instead of skating around him and missing the whole thing, I suspect he would’ve chuckled, maybe given him a playful shove, and that would’ve been it. These two are territorial over each other in equal measure, just in different fonts. So I think Will gets it when Mack occasionally gets a little theatrical with his public claims, even when he’s apparently claiming Will from the looming yet ghostlike specter of Ryan Leonard 😭

He’ll plan fancy candlelit dinners and movie nights for us. He’ll turn his personal TikTok username into an homage to me, curate the perfect pictures of us for his Instagram dumps, and personally commission a hype reel for me set to a love song. He’ll stay up to watch me play against your team and refuse to celebrate his own country winning gold because he’s consoling me every way he can. He’ll drive me around, crack a million stupid jokes to make me laugh, and hone his body into the perfect instrument for mine on the ice, feeding me passes from the wing where you used to fly, and letting me do whatever I want with him off the ice, too.

And remember that charity game you were supposed to play together? Your chance to feel that magical connection again, the one that made you two-thirds of the most dominant line in college hockey? I think “closest” is actually a really nuanced term, because how are we defining closeness? Depending on the operational definition, Leno, Gabe, and Mack all come out on top.

Who among the three’s known Will the longest?

Easily Leno. I think Will is close to Leno the way a person is close to the ghosts of their past; the ones that haunt you lovingly, reminding you where you came from, who you were before anyone else was watching, and that your memories aren’t things you can outrun, much less hide from.

Leno has seen sides of Will that no one else ever will: the unpolished, messy, occasionally messed up core of him, the growing pains and deep insecurities you’re only privy to when you’re growing into your own skin side by side. If you asked Leno who Will Smith is, I bet he’d describe someone entirely different from the person we know today. He knew the boy before the edges were sanded down. But unfortunately for Leno, Will grew up. And in that growing up, he changed, some might even say bloomed. Leno thinks it’s fine if they never move on, he keeps his ear to the doorframe, and keeps rooting for his downfall.

Who’s shared the most life with Will?

Probably Gabe. He’s his roots and the certainty that no matter how far Will goes, there are people waiting who already know the map back to him. A lifetime of loyalty is worth its weight in gold, and I think Will knows exactly how precious that is.

They’ve done almost everything there is to do together as two close friends: lived together, travelled together, spent endless stretches of ordinary life in each other’s company. Gabe probably knows most of Will’s secrets and is one of his greatest confidants. With Gabe, Will doesn’t seem to need pretence. He can be bony-limed, red-faced, and teary-eyed because their relationship is easy, familiar, and built on trust and affection that comes when you already know exactly where you stand with someone. If anyone feels like family to Will, I’d say Gabe fits that definition best. He’s a true brother to him.

Who loves Will the most?

Well, that would undoubtedly be Mack. Mack, who seems to choose Will over and above everyone and everything, sometimes even over the puck he’s spent his entire life chasing. Mack, who makes love to Will with his eyes whenever they’re caught in the same orbit on the ice. Mack, who throws himself between Will’s body and a hit, his honour and a bruise, his name and anyone reckless enough to speak against it. Mack, who sometimes looks like he wants to consume Will whole and would consider anything less than all of him an insufficient portion.

In Mack, Will seems to have found a match to his soul. The Will who circles Mack isn’t the same Will who looks at Leno, hangs with Voter, or vacations with Gabe. In two short years, he seems to have made Mack the axis around which some enormous part of his life spins. He gave up his position as the centre. He closed ranks around their relationship in San Jose, drawing a line in the sand between the two of them and everyone who wanted a piece of it, an explanation for it, the inside scoop. He worked on his game, his body, his habits, and his role until he became something Mack could depend on—indispensable, irreplaceable, impossible to imagine the future without.

And together, they keep finding new ways to call each other by their name. Will has had many friends. Many people who love him, and many people he clearly loves in return. But I don’t think, from what we’ve seen, that he has ever given or received this particular kind of adoration before: this mutual, almost unconditional high regard, this relentless preference for one another, this sense that each has looked at the other and gone, there. That one. I’ll build around him.

So who is Will closest to?

Everyone and no one, depending on what you mean by “close.” But who has he tethered himself to? Who has he rearranged himself around? Who has he become good at staying still for?

And yes, I know that they know that, but sometimes there's this constant need to check, just like they do sometimes in games. In this moment, they are both stealing glances at each other and asking themselves, "Is he even real, or did I make him up?" Amongst all the other things you ask yourself when your heart starts to beat and your body start to just be for someone else.

Constantly making sure they are enough for the other while actively knowing they are enough for the other is my favorite thing about them. They just love each other so much, and that’s not taught, it just happens sometimes and you deal with it because you want what you’re feeling. You start to wanna feel that feeling forever.

I genuinely think he has this vile horny vibe to him when he is around Will and I think will always looks uncomfortable when he does shit like that. It’s one thing if it’s reciprocated, but Will Smith often looks very uncomfortable anytime he does shit like just touching him in general.

I personally think Will Smith is straight so for him to have to go through this is heartbreaking because I think he feels like he has to just endure the physical sexual touches Macklin disgustingly throws his way and he doesn’t. I genuinely hope Will Smith is ok and safe when he is around him alone because with the way this is looking, he could just be keeping quiet about it because he doesn’t wanna stir up drama in San Jose.
