Allow me to wax poetic about my own headcanons for a sec (she says to her echochamber of 2 mutuals LMAO)

I love this moment. Obviously theres a lack of emotional literacy from draven generally, and that coupled with the fact that he never really got to know his parents put me in thoughts of: how would he even know what love looks like to be able to name it? Previous to this, he hadnt attempted to, or been able to, picture gentleness and affection between his parents. What would it look like? And its a stupid thing to think about anyway, because it doesnt exist anymore, if it ever did.

OKAY YOURE SO FUCKING CORRECT ON LIKE. EVERY COUNT. 😭😭

It's actually soooo deeply sad to not see this level of analysis for Draven generally, and I guess it just comes from the unfortunate fact that his character is not really fleshed out in any way by canon. A lot of the facts of his backstory are kinda just dropped there without much exploration, which means not everyone goes through the thought process of that exploration at all.

But I just looooove hurt, abrasive characters like him who essentially act loud and confident in a parody of control over their own lives. It's a performance of ultimate control where none truly exists. Growing up on the streets like that, at the mercy of forces around him, I imagine would make him feel a weakness and vulnerability that he's keen to never feel again. When the world has made you feel small, you take great pains to remind it that you'll never be small again. But it doesn't altogether work that way, does it? He has to constantly be in control of his image, of the way he's perceived, because if that slips then something ugly might come out that he doesn't want anybody to know. That's where the pain of this character comes through for me and just GETS MY GOAT SO GODDAMN MUCH 😭

And the thing with Darius!!! Good God!!!!! I mean, I haven't read through canon in a while, but last I looked they canonically have between 8-10 years of age difference, unless that's been retconned. So really, realistically even if Riot won't spell it out loud, Darius was raising his kid brother after their parents died. And the way they grow into two entirely different kinds of control (repression vs lashing out) is so interesting to me!!!!!!

It's extremely high praise to fit into this category of people who view this the way you do!!! It may be a small club but we are here and it's bumpin!!!! God knows I'll hear people's theories and rants about this topic any time!!! 😭😭😭
