Chaotic Gay

The 7th track (yes I know I skipped 6), one of the 3rd bosses and one of the protagonists of the game. This theme belongs to Rivan Miyashiro, the shrine maiden of the Seiba Shrine and protector of the Seiba Barrier. Due to the lack of large-scale incidents over the past thousand years, Rivan has grown lazy and apathetic. Their drive to resolve the current incident is purely so that the youkai will stop bothering them. I wanted this theme to be quick and active for a reason. Despite being lazy and apathetic, their mindset is “The faster I shoot it down the faster I can get this over with.” I wanted this theme to reflect not only their quick pace but the sheer amount of power they exert without even batting an eye.

The 6th track and theme of the 3rd Stage. It’s at this point where the shrine road ends and the vast expanse of forest begins. The protagonists opt to fly over the forest to get a better view as to where the youkai might be gathering. As tradition with Touhou-esque schmups, the story doesn’t truly take off until after the 3rd stage but I wanted to invoke the feeling that this is where the protagonist’s journey truly begins.

The 5th track and 2nd boss in the game. The boss is an original character named Eustace Unwys. She’s extremely intelligent with a large ego, but she lacks heavily on the wisdom front. She believes she’s the best incident solver and will charge headfirst into any suspicious person to punish them, even if it ends up backfiring heavily. I was going for a Cirno-esque style with some more intensity to match the large ego she has.

The 4th track in the game and the theme of the 2nd stage. I wanted a more relaxed and somber feel to this to tell the story of this village. It’s a peaceful village, but in order for that peace to exist, its history had to be erased. This theme is meant to reflect the fact that the inhabitants are living false lives under the guise of a peaceful existence.

The third track in my project and the first boss of the game. The character is aptly named ‘Titania’ after the ruler of fae in folklore. I wanted to go for a more playful vibe since the fight isn’t really meant to be hard, it’s just Xer playing around and pranking the main characters

The second track in the game and final version of this song, renamed to fit the setting. This is the first stage. To me the first stage is the most important stage of the game. It’s what determines if the player is interested in the game and will want to keep going, so of course I wanted its theme to be memorable.

This is meant to be the title screen music. I feel like it sets the mood of the game well enough and has an easy to recognize melody like the Touhou and Len’en series do.
