Crystal Archives
I've heard off and on some want for a communal profile collection, a place to post stories, and find events all under one roof since the old RPC went down. Chaos had created their own replacement but was very local to their own data-center. That same group has been building a version for the Crystal data-center at https://crystalarchives.org/
There is also a Dalamud mod for viewing this profile information in game not unlike the early days of TRP on WoW.
While the site has been up for a while, it now also imports the roleplay events from the FFXIV RP Event Calendar, giving another easy way to keep up with what is happening when.
Look at that stories section 👀
Buscarron's Open World Roleplay
Though data center travel is still down, the weekly gathering at at Buscarron's for open world / walk up roleplay continues tonight. Come commiserate about wood wailers with the local Keepers. Come commiserate about the Keepers with some local Adders. Or just come out and meet some folks, and enjoy the night in the South Shroud.
Buscarron's Open World / Walk up Roleplay tonight at 8pm US Eastern over on Balmung. Come on by and shake out some of those RP cobwebs.
anyone who knows Kell
knows he'd end up as a viper

She's escaped! Catch her!
#wolqotd time!
If you had to pick one out of the many characters throughout the Final Fantasy franchise, (excluding 14 of course), who would be a Shard of your Warrior of Light's soul?
5/18/24
How tall is your wol(oc)? How tall would they like to be?
Re: The Benchmark
There's a few things I hope they fix with it, and from the sound of the post that went up on socials, they are.
Midlander muscle slider does not look updated at all when compared to other muscle sliders in the benchmark, and makes the character look worse whereas the definition or lack thereof has a good look to it on both highlanders and roegadyns
Femhroths have black teeth but only sometimes. I don't mind them having black teeth, but the sometimes leads me to believe this is a bug.
The extra horn haircuts for femra have the horns use the old lighting IIRC. this one I'm not too sure about because it's one of the least used haircuts in the game. the sheen looked off in the benchmark though.
One of the tattoo/face options for Femhroth looks like piercings. May be intentional, but they do look like they're not applying correctly to the skin instead of extruding properly.
All in all they did a great job though. The most important thing to me is the muscle slider because Kell kinda needs that to work proper. How can people confuse him for a highlander without it?
stop it you're not a red mage

have a valentione kell that i wanted to send to his husband
I REALLY need to get back to actual RPing, or find a crew, or something. I have a decent enough plot to reinvent Kell a bit (see prior) and I kind of want to play him that way. Especially the doofus to mime to CNJ/VIP (probably) pipeline.
The Children Yearn for the Woods
(and that title is REALLY bad considering Kell's last name)
"At the end of the day, the principles of life in the Shroud are simple as they are universal, no matter where you are. They are all founded on respect. Every rule that you learn about how to treat the woods is respect for the land. Even the rule about poaching is respect for all creatures as using all of it is the best way to thank the creature whose life you took. This doesn't just apply to life in Gridania, but life everywhere."
Kellach had never imagined this is how he would spend the rest of his days. He taps the cane onto the wooden floor to signal the end of the class and punctuates this ending as the children start running around.
"Remember, next week is the presentation in front of the Fane, so make sure you know your lessons! If everyone does well, I'll tell you another story of my adventuring days! Have a good week, little ones!"
To think the Fane would welcome him as a Hearer in training and even allow him to teach children. He can barely cast Cure, Stone and Aero, and yet he's teaching children not about weapons, but about a society he didn't even grow up in.
Once the children left, he sat at the stump and pulled out his Book of Rites alongside a scroll mentioning a study of the Elementals. That alone was the reason why he was given this chance. Well, that and being married to one of the most preeminent healers of the Fane. That helped getting him in the door.
The similarities between his people's life and Gridanian teachings did the rest. Kellach once thought the scholarly one was his brother, yet he's the one in school while Einrich is... somewhere.
"While the dance ritual to summon the Elements did not succeed in helping me hear the Elements, there might be something else in this that mirrors the understanding of Hearing as a discipline. I've often thought that it was because I wasn't open to listening that my hearing was incomplete, but at the same time, it seems all hearing is incomplete in some way. Our mediators could call upon the elements to clarify or dispense judgement, while in Gridania, if the Elementals show up, something bad has happened, so passive hearing is a must."
Kellach sighed, packed up his stuff, and returned to the Fane. Eamont didn't seem like he'd need his help at the healing hut, and he'd rather not use Pom Cure or mimicry to help out as he needs to practice his conjury.
Flipping his cane like he would his fauchard, he mimicked a few thrusts here and there just to clarify his mind, not noticing a child had stayed behind and was watching.
"Teacher Woods, you can use a spear?" asked the little one, studying how Kellach's movements were far different from the typical Wood Wailer.
"Eh, not really. If you want to learn the spear, the Lancers' Guild is where you should learn it. This is just something I picked up in Kugane and Doma." No sense in lying to the child. Kell did have a short stint in the Lancers' Guild but once he learned the basics, he was too busy with adventuring to finish his training.
"Oh... It's just that my sister and I are in the Lancers' Guild and she wants to spar with me, but I'm no good with a spear... I practice really hard but I can't even do the basic True Thrust!" That happens - not everyone meshes well with every style and every weapon.
"You've probably heard the guild leader's lesson on confidence and courage? Because that's the thing with True Thrust - if you're not confident, the thrust will come out wrong."
That was one of the moves he'd learned from the guild, so demonstrating it, even with the stick he used as a conjurer's cane, was easy enough. Was it picture perfect? No, but none but the guildmaster could call him out on it.
"Wow! Is there anything you don't know, teacher!?" The child clearly had respect for the teacher.
"Practically everything about magic barring blue magic, advanced theories on martial arts, engineering, difficult carpentry, alchemy, advanced leatherworking, most of the history of Eorzea and the rest of the world, among other things." Kellach said, establishing the facts. "Thing is, there's always something to learn, so don't worry too much about not being able to be a good sparring partner for your sister. For all you know, that'll end up helping you out even if it ends up convincing you that the spear is not for you. There are so many ways to protect yourself and the ones you love out there after all. Now, you should go back home."
The child nodded and left. Kellach sighed - he didn't want to guide his student towards any sort of path because that simply wasn't his job. His job was to make sure he would learn his adopted city's social mores.
The less he placed himself in a position to wield weapons, the more he could concentrate on learning conjury and beating this mental block.
kell questions to the job design team
"when are we getting mediator/orator because I need to go in PvP and use 'Mimic Urianger' as a mez spell?"
"if we ever get onmyoji/oracle, are we gonna also have a banging theme song from Toshikazu Tanaka?"
"when are monks gonna suplex trains? that should be a core part of the job"
"chemist failed twice as a healer, why have you not considered it as a ranged dps that just uses breath weapons on enemies?"
"since selphie's limit break was rng, why not make gambler with nunchaku?"
"since we've established that sentai heroes exist, why not use that and ff5's gladiator to make the coolest job ever seen?"
"if we're gonna get druid, can they have hand sickles as weapons so i can do my getafix/panoramix cosplay? don't worry i have enough metallic gold dyes."
"i know the next limited job isn't blitzballer, but considering we're going to go to the eitherys new world, can it be Tural Ballgamer instead?"
if Kazumoto ever meets one of you
he will hit you with "Hingan jouzu"

As a returning player, Balmung feels so foreign to me now. The RP community is the largest it’s ever been, but it somehow feels a lot more isolated and lonely than back when I left in Stormblood.
I kind of miss being able to have walk-up RP in the quicksand, when Roleplayers weren’t pushed out of their own spaces and into the pearl lane. Yes, World Travel did more good than harm, but I feel like we lost something after the surge of a billion level 10 wanderer/traveller alts just AFKing in Ul’dah, or engaging in Balmung tourism because they think they’re gonna witness something “dirty”.
Like, I feel like a lot of people come to Balmung thinking they’re going to witness something ExCiTinG and when they don’t, they start shit in shout chat. Hell, I hardly see locals in Ul’dah at all. Kinda bothers me that Balmung gets the reputation of being the “erp” server while 90% of the ERP alts in the QS aren’t even Balmung natives.
Shout chat is entertaining but… I don’t know. I guess I’m just not really used to it yet… Or maybe I’m being a boomer, lmao.
I'm pretty much the same, it's pretty much a deterrent at this point. Granted, Kell always felt like an off-putting character to others due to how silly yet abrasive I tend to make him (though as far as I know nobody ever minded)
Even when I'm not in game, Kell is still a menace
