Black queer people exist and love each other just like any heterosexual couple does.

Black Gays, Lesbians, Trans, and everyone else can both give and receive love to one or more individuals romantically.

Many of us know Black love between a man and a woman are real. But too often, especially in media, Black LGBT members, when given the chance, are seen in relationships with someone outside of their race (ie White) and rarely seen in a relationship with someone within their race.

Black LGBT should be reminded that they can fall in love within their race, as well, and that it’s not uncommon to. They aren’t obligated to look outside. We must allow for Black queer love to have a safe space in our community. Because if we’re speaking on Black love, we cannot and should not exclude. We have to think bigger than heteronormative relationships. We must include our brothers and sisters tenfold.
