Terry Crews: Manhood, Feminism & the Mindset that Leads to Rape
for anyone still wondering why Iâm a feminist let Terry Crews clear it up for ya.
I think the big thing about feminism is that it scares men because, you knowâthe big deal is that people are scared of being controlledâŚI want to be clear that feminism is not saying âwomen are better than men.â Thatâs not whatâs going onâŚWhat it is is that weâre talking about gender equality, true gender equalityâŚbut the problem is that men have always felt like theyâre more valuableâŚI have been that guy where I felt I was more valuable than my wife and kids.
I get a lot of guys who are like, âYou know, thatâs good, man. Thatâs cool,â and I also get guys who are like, âWhat are you DOING?ââŚItâs like, what is the big deal? But itâs [that Iâm] telling. [Iâm] telling. âItâs MAN CODE, dude. Man Code! Câmon.ââŚbut does Man Code work when itâs your daughter who gets raped? Man Codeâdoes that work when your mom gets abused?
âŚIâm living in the real world and you can drink the Kool-Aid all you want. A lot of guys love the Kool-Aid. The sports world is Kool-Aid worldâŚYou can do anything if [you win]âŚWhat happens is they win and they go, âYou know that girl? Sheâs my trophy. I deserve that girl. In fact, she donât even want to be with me, but I donât care. Iâm going to take it.â What kind of mindset is that? Never never never never never should that ever be accepted. Thatâs not âcode.â Thatâs Taliban. Thatâs ISIS.
I kind of relate it to slavery. Or even civil rights. Letâs not even go back to slavery, letâs go to civil rightsâthe people who were silent at the lunch counters, when it was the black lunch counter and the white one or the schools were segregatedâŚand you were quiet. You were accepting it. Same thing with men right now. If you donât say anything, you are, by your silenceâitâs acceptance. Iâm not going to be silent.
I've been away because I got accepted into film school where I'll be obtaining a MFA in Screenwriting. I'm tryna make movies for Black girls/women. I'm doing amazing. Life is grand and filled with potential. My talents are being stretched and my confidence is growing muscle. I'm good :) Stay tuned.

âwho nose is dat? and my eyes crossedâ LMFAOOOO HER ACCENT IS LIFE
The way Melissa calls her baby... Couple or not, I love these two together.
The experiences I've had in the past year have been so marvelous. And I'm just getting started.
The Underground Palace
Evenings on Solaris always fascinated Arrin. The calming stillness. The golden sun setting over a pinkish, blue horizon, which gave off an appearance of both dawn and twilight. But this evening was different, and Arrin hadnât been home in quite some time. Nearly a year had been spent in the pilot console of his mecha. And even now in the Hyperion, Arrin wasnât about to turn back. Â Â Â
âAny messages, Lu?â Arrin turned to speak to a small, luminous, cube shaped device. Never once since his journey began had he felt alone when L.U.L.A. (his âlogistical understandings and linguistics applicationâ) was near. To him, L.U.L.A. was more than a digital assistant. âSheâ was his friend. Â
âSeveral. Would you like me to relay them to you?â Lulaâs calm automated voice replied. A lavender hue twinkling with every word.
âLets have it.â Arrin folded his arms and closed his eyes, as though he were beginning a long nap.
Lulaâs voice then morphed into several others as each message began playing. Though it had been months since Arrin last checked them, he remained in his napping position, seemingly unperturbed. Until a familiar sound caught his ear. Â Â
âArrin? Arrin itâs me. Itâs Luna. No oneâs heard from you in over a year. Whe⌠Where are you? Are you ever coming back? Come home.â
Arrin replayed the message again in his mind. The princess of Lunaria wasnât just anyone. She was special to him. Closer than any friend had been. Arrin imagined what it would be like to hear Luna utter âCome home to me.â He mightâve then changed course. His hefty resolve would perhaps waver. But no. He couldnât be swayed by the princessesâs words. Not this time.
âUhm⌠Howâs the drive doing, Lula?â Arrin asked. Saying anything to get his mind off of Luna.
âThe tachyon drive is at 97%.â
âCool. And how far out are we?â
âJust outside the Nuriban desert. Shall I take her down?â Â
âMmm⌠No, not yet.â Arrin jumped from the cockpit, peeking through a glass dome. He surveyed the land, looking for something in particular. âNothing but sand,â he thought. Then, to his right, the silhouette of a man waving his arms just few hundred yards away. Arrin was flooded with a sudden rush of energy and he jolted. âOh, there he is! Ok, Lu. Gimme the stick, Iâll park it!â As the auto pilot disengaged, Arrin jumped back into the cockpit, grabbing a hold of two large joysticks and began to set the 9 meter giant down. Being careful of where he positioned Hyperion. For the medal body had never touched sand before. Once Hyperionâs armored legs were planted, Arrin stood from the cockpit once more and pressed small red button adjacent to him. The consoleâs glass dome then rose, allowing Arrin to exit the mecha. Â
âWould you like me to accompany you?â Arrinâs excitement halted by Lulaâs protective inquiry. He gave a smile before answering.
âNah, itâs okay. Stay here. Donât wanna leave Hyperion all alone.â Arrin grabbed his purple jacket and headed out the opened hatch where a young man with a familiar face ran to greet him. Â
âArrin. Hey, how you been?â Arrin turned to a deep voice with the slightest hint of innocence in it. As if the bearer didnât know he was a man.
âKit Spectre! Arrin rushed to his friend. Eagerly awaiting what he might say next. Â Â
âIs that a⌠Super mech? Donât think Iâve ever seen one up close before.â Kit stared in amazement and pointed a finger at the red and silver giant. Â
âHype here is one of the smaller ones.â Arrin glanced upward at Hyperion with pride. Then almost immediately looked down, placing his left hand on the back of his neck before a tone of pseudo modesty kicked in. âBut, I guess he can be considered a super mech.â
Kit looked up at the setting sun. His hand shielding him from its light. âWell, itâs time.⌠Câmon. Lets go! Kit motioned for Arrin to follow him. Arrin stared for a second with a puzzled look. âGo where?â he thought. Was there a landmark he had missed on the way over? Though the puzzled look remained, he trusted Kit to know where they were going and began following his friend.
Though only a several minute walk in fuchsia colored sands, the immense heat was an annoyance to Arrin. Beads of sweat were dripping from his head all the way down his arms. His honey brown complexion singed by the blaring sun. This wasnât an environment he was used to. Kit had all but ignored it. Though ripples of sweat dripped from his head, he was seemingly unaffected by the intense heat.
âHow much further?â Arrin inquired. Slightly panting with his jacket covering his face, trying best to block the sunâs rays. Kit remained silent, but suddenly stopped walking. Wiping sweat from his brow.
âHey, Iâm home!â he yelled. His words echoing across the desert. All of a sudden the ground shook. Earth and sand collapsed beneath the two men until a large metal platform was revealed from under their feet. As the ground continued to quake, the platform began lowering the two deeper and deeper underground until finally it stopped. Kit stepped from among the platform, but Arrin froze. His eyes fixed on what lay before him. He couldnât believe it. An underground community right in from of his eyes. Filled with hundreds of people. This placed seemed to be an underground palace. Full of buildings and technology. Golden light seen everywhere. Arrin first thought of how it was possible for a thriving community, to live totally off grid. Away from the three kingdoms. Away from the Guard. He gave up pondering and simply accepted the gift his eyes had shown him. Â Â Â
âThis place, Kit⌠Itâs beautiful.â Â
Kit looked up. His face exposed a brief smile. âWelcome to Suna, my friend.â
Can't wait for the next part!! đđđż
