this isnt a vague about anything or anyone in particular (more of a pattern recognition thing), but i think like labeling things as being "not racist" or "not misogynistic", while well intentioned, closes off a dialogue between the work itself, the audience, and the creator(s). like even if you have a work that is devoid of bigotry (which even if its true today, people in the future may view it differently) its still worth examining and having conversations about it. also, i think it like severely limits the scope and reduces the ability for improvement or nuance. alas!

as a yosuke fan it really irks me how much people excuse the homophobic behavior because "hes closeted and projecting his internalized homophobia" ? as much as hes my favorite in the p4 cast, the homophobia isnt very internalized if hes Externally being homophobic to his friend that may or may not be gay? with or without the scrapped romance route being included hes still kind of an asshole. which is partly why i love him but anyway
