April 21 - 25 , 2025

As we proceed our internship at school, we were assigned to the Registrar’s Office, where we were warmly welcomed by Ma'am Riza and Ma'am Joyce. On our first day, Ma'am Riza introduced us to the office’s role and responsibilities. Our initial task involved sorting diploma jackets for all fourth-year students across various courses, which took us nearly two and a half days to complete. Once finished, we assisted Ma'am Joyce with processing student clearances. Through this task, we interacted with different students and learned how to communicate effectively. We also ran errands, such as retrieving a petty cash voucher from the accounting office, and helped organize medals for the upcoming college graduation ceremony.

April 7 - 12, 2025

This week was quite eventful and productive, as it marked the final stretch of our internship at SAFADECO. It was a week full of tasks and responsibilities that highlighted not only the skills we’ve learned but also the trust given to us by the staff. At the beginning of the week, our first task was to organize the requirements needed for the members’ loan application forms. This included compiling the actual loan application form, insurance documents, and the credit investigation reports. These documents were important because they provided a comprehensive view of the members' financial status and their capacity to apply for and repay a loan. Following this, Ma'am Julie instructed us to print all the necessary documents that each member would need for their loan application. Once the printing was done, I was assigned to handle the Xerox copying of these requirements, particularly for one of the members under Sir Latuga, one of the Development Officers (DOs). This helped ensure that there were backup copies for both the office and the members' personal records.

On a different note, Ma'am Chloe gave us another task: to assist with her report. This involved checking each member’s profile in the Ekoop system to identify what type of loan they had availed of. It was detailed work that required accuracy and attention, especially because the report would be used for official documentation. After completing that, Ma'am Belle then assigned me to work on balancing the financial statements specifically for the Sorsogon branch. This was a bit more complex as it included various types of allowances such as RATA, Medical Allowance, Clothing Allowance, Communication Allowance, Hazard Pay, and more. Each entry had to be verified and totaled correctly to ensure that the financial records were accurate and up-to-date. We also participated in other important routine tasks such as filing. This meant finding the correct folders for each member and properly inserting their mortgage documents and loan application forms. In addition, I was tasked to write down the IDs of the co-makers, which is a vital part of the requirements in processing a loan application since the co-maker acts as a guarantor. Apart from our office duties, we also took part in a seminar titled "Vote Smart: A Guide to Being a Responsible Voter in 2025." This seminar was organized by NATCOO and was attended by both SAFADECO staff and us OJTs. It was an eye-opening event that emphasized the importance of responsible voting and active participation in the democratic process, especially in the upcoming elections.

Finally, I continued with one of my regular tasks, which was to input the collections made by the Development Officers. The process began with counting the actual cash collected, then inputting the data into the Ekoop system, and finally ensuring the records were balanced before handing them over to the teller for final verification.

March 31 - April 5, 2025

This week was a productive and fulfilling one, filled with various tasks that provided both challenges and learning opportunities. To begin with, I was tasked with calling members whose loans had been approved. During these calls, I informed them of their scheduled time to visit the office, the approved loan amount, and reminded them to bring their passbooks for proper documentation and processing. I also reviewed several loan application forms to ensure that all required fields were filled out correctly and completely. Accuracy in these forms is crucial to avoid any delays in processing.

In addition, Ma'am Belle assigned us to work on the adjustment of members' loans. This involved determining whether their loans should be categorized under "Preferred," "Others Payable," or "Common" accounts. It was a meticulous process, but it helped me understand more about the classification of loan adjustments and their implications. Ma'am Julie also gave me the responsibility of organizing the logbook for collaterals. I carefully created rows and labeled them with important details such as the date, member's name, address, type of collateral submitted, and their signature to confirm receipt and verification. Furthermore, Ma'am Carla instructed us to compile and organize the folders for cash and journal vouchers for the months of February, March, and April. We completed this task with the help of fellow OJTs from BU Gubat, which made the work more manageable and collaborative.

Another important task we completed involved separating the mortgage documents from the members’ loan application forms and filing them accordingly into their respective folders, as directed by Ma'am Julie. This task was also done in coordination with the BU Gubat OJTs, whose assistance was greatly appreciated. Lastly, we worked on encoding the PAR report for Sir Ryan, the Loan Officer. This involved computing the collection sheets for each Development Officer, including Sir Lafuente, Latuga, Legaspi, Sabanal, and Gabito. It was a detailed task that enhanced my analytical skills and understanding of loan portfolio monitoring.

March 24 - 29, 2025

This week, we began by organizing the files of each member to properly assign and write their voting codes, as instructed by Ma'am Belle, the bookkeeper, who also asked us to arrange the files alphabetically. This task required meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that each file was properly categorized and easily accessible for future reference. Once that was done, we proceeded to work on preparing and cutting the new leave forms for the staff, under the guidance of Ma'am Carla, the assistant bookkeeper. She walked us through the process of measuring, cutting, and ensuring the forms were accurate and ready for use.

On the following day, we shifted our focus to sorting the files related to the members’ loans. We carefully separated their mortgage documents from their IDs and loan application forms. This task was made easier with the assistance of the OJTs from BU Gubat, who helped ensure that the documents were properly filed and categorized according to the member’s specific loan. This organization is crucial for smooth administrative operations, as it helps streamline the retrieval of documents when needed.In the afternoon, we participated in an insightful seminar conducted by the BFP, which was attended by all employees and OJTs. The seminar covered a variety of essential topics, including the history of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), its origins, and the different hazards associated with Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). We also learned about various types of fires and their characteristics, which broadened our understanding of fire safety. One of the most practical parts of the seminar was the fire extinguisher demonstration. After receiving a detailed explanation on how to properly use fire extinguishers, several employees and OJTs were given the opportunity to demonstrate their newly acquired skills, reinforcing the importance of preparedness in the event of a fire. Later in the day, I completed my usual task of inputting the collection for the DO. This process involves several steps, starting with counting the collection accurately. Once that is done, I enter the data into the ekoop system, ensuring that all figures match and are balanced. The final step is recording the information in the collection sheet, which serves as an official document for tracking the financial records. The precision and care needed for this task are crucial in maintaining the integrity of the organization’s financial data.

March 17 - 21, 2025

In the morning we fixed the flyers and remove that not needed together with OJTs from BU Gubat and followed by the task of Ma'am Julie where we identify and checked all the members that belongs to regular, gold, silver, bronze and platinum. Apart from that ma'am Belle told us to balance the inputs that each member had and not in an hour, in insurance department told us to help them in preparing the t-shirts of members, nor only for the members but for all the staffs of Sorsogon Branch of SAFADECO. We also help them in fixing the tokens to be given to all the members with the help also of the OJTs from BU Gubat and Irosin. On the other hand, Ma'am Julie give us documents to be filed, I also input the collection of Sir Russel, where it includes by computing all the collection, counting, input the date in ekoop and lastly by balancing it. We also staples the members data for the their voting that will happen in General Assembly on Saturday, we finished this on two days because we alphabetize it.

March 10 - 15, 2025

This week give us excitement, where we started the day with a devotional session, as it was Monday, involving all employees, including OJTs from the Sorsogon branch. After the prayer, we proceed with a task assigned by Ma'am Julie, which involved filing and checking if the loan application forms of members were complete and signed. I also stamped the receipts for the tellers as Ma'am Ivy said. Ma'am Belle also instructed us to search for discrepancies that couldn't be balanced, including the withdrawal slips, deposit slips, cash vouchers, journal vouchers, and the cash count sheet used by the bookkeeper. In addition, we worked on the cash receipt books, which were organized by month, along with the co-OJT from Gubat.

On the other hand, Ma'am Julie asked me to call members to approve their loans, informing them about the loan orientation time and the loan amount. Afterward, the Marketing team assigned us to help fix the uniforms for the general assembly and apply stickers to the ballpens. Later, Ma'am Belle asked us to organize the members by department officers and write the names of co-makers' IDs. Lastly, we worked on the PAR report for Sir Ryan, with assistance from the OJTs in the BU Gubat branch.

March 3 - 8, 2025

We began the day by discussing about our pictorial, and then Ma'am Marey asked me to make three copies of the members' cheques. We also entered the report from Sir Ryan, the loan officer of SAFADECO, which included the PAR report along with the OJT of Bu Gubat, Rea. Meanwhile, Ma'am Julie, one of the loan clerks, instructed us to organize the requirements for members applying for loans. For loans under 15k, the requirements include two copies of the loan application form, insurance, and cash flow analysis. For loans above 15k, the requirements include the same, along with LPPI.

As part of our OJT, we were required to accompany the Department Officers (DO) to observe their fieldwork. As Ma'am Chloe, the branch manager, explained, we needed to observe their processes and help introduce SAFADECO to potential members. That day, Sir Ronald, one of the D.O.s, took me into the field. First, we organized the flyers, then proceeded to the assigned locations. Sir Ronald’s area was Sorsogon, including Burabod in Sorsogon City. In this area, Sir Ronald met with one member and provided a brief introduction about SAFADECO. Afterward, we visited Brgy. Cambulaga to collect payments from two members, while distributing flyers to others. We had an early lunch, then continued collecting payments from his members in Balago and Bibincahan, Sorsogon City. Afterward, we returned to the SAFADECO office, where Sir Ronald asked me to tally the collections, input the payments, update them in Ekoop, balance the totals, and hand them to the teller for verification. The following day, Ma'am Ivy, one of the tellers, asked us to recheck the official receipt invoices for each DO. After completing this task, Ma'am Belle assigned me the task of sorting the members by DO area, which I finished in two days.

February 24 - 28, 2025

I spent another week as an intern at SAFADECO. Sir Russell, one of the department officers, asked us to assist with his collection. Our tasks included counting the money collected, which amounted to thirty thousand nine hundred eighty-one. We then input this data into the ekoop system, breaking down the payments by members. Next, we tallied and balanced the collection, and finally, handed it over to the loans clerk for verification. The following day, we worked on the transmittal, inputting data for members associated with it, while collaborating with the OJT team from BU Gubat to review their documents. Additionally, we observed Nelestine in making journal entries, with guidance from Ma'am Karla, the bookkeeper's assistant.

Ma'am Chloe, the branch manager of Sorsogon, tasked me with taking photos of the office building. She also assigned us to recheck members' files, including their insurance, loan forms, and other loan types. Afterward, I assisted one of the BU Gubat OJTs in editing a member's mortgage, as instructed by Ma'am Chloe. The week concluded with an impromptu PMES (Pre-Membership Education Seminar) for an individual interested in joining SAFADECO.

February 17 - 20, 2025

It was a great way to start the week, surrounded by knowledgeable people. We began the day with Sir Ryan, who introduced two members of SAFADECO—one an engineer and the other a government employee. As part of their membership, Sir Ryan welcomed them with an informative history of SAFADECO and insights into cooperatives, which they called the Pre-Membership Education Seminar (PMES). Following that, we prepared the necessary documents for loan applications, including the application form and insurance for amounts below and above 15k. Additionally, I stamped the receipt for Ma'am Marey. Later, Ma'am Karla explained that all receipts, withdrawal slips, cash, and journal vouchers would be audited, so we decided to gather them in the department officer's area for organization. We then proceeded with the loan orientation, conducted by the OJT from BU Gubat, in collaboration with Sir Ryan, the members, and us.

The following day, Ma'am Julie assigned me the task of inputting the contact information, specifically the spouse's phone number, into an Excel file. This would serve as an emergency contact in important matters. Later, I prepared the audit logbook with Nelestine, including details like the date issued, recipient, serial number, return date, and remarks. Furthermore, Sir Russel, one of the department officers, assisted me with recording the collection details. I first counted the amount collected, then entered the loan and savings collection into Ekoop, ensuring everything balanced and tallied correctly.

February 10 -15, 2025

February experiences as an intern at The Lewis College:

On Monday morning, we verified the official receipts of DO and teller to ensure the details is correct. Afterwards , we processed the membership fee payments for Damayan members, assisted by Ma'am Belle, the bookkeeper, and the OJTs from BU Gubat. In the afternoon, we attended a loan orientation led by Sir Ryan, the loan officer, with Louela and Jaga from BU Gubat conducting the session alongside by Sir Ryan. Additionally , we gathered with the OJTs from BU Gubat to receive an orientation on cash flow analysis, which DOs use during their fieldwork. Sir Ryan provided a brief overview, covering daily, weekly, and monthly expenses, as well as the credit scoring questionnaires . This questionnaire assesses factors like character, ability to repay, capital status, collateral, co-makers, and credit conditions, each with different scoring. It also included the financial aspects of members' businesses, such as raw materials, labor, rent, utilities, transportation, fuel, loan payments, and food.

The following day, we continued assisting with Damayan membership processing with Ma'am Karla. We also informed the OJTs from BU Gubat about the Damayan program, giving them additional knowledge of SAFADCO's operations. Additionally, we were tasked with locating members' signature cards, which, according to Ma'am Chloe (the branch manager), belong to the teller for their reference. We cross-checked these details to ensure they matched the members' files. Before the day ends, we sorted members' signature cards in ekoop, as some did not have codes. Over the next two days, we completed finding and sorting the signature cards.

On the next day, which took two days, we sorted data to determine whether members were in categories such as offsetting, write-off, no loan, closed, or resigned. We also reviewed their balances for regular, common, and preferred loans. Additionally, we prepared Valentine’s gifts for members, including cutting ribbons and printing cards with love quotes, with the assistance of OJTs from BU Gubat. We attended an online seminar on self-worth by Dr. Pauline Quimson, the resource speaker from NATCCO. She shared tips on how to value ourselves and stay physically fit amidst daily stress, and we also practiced basic exercises with OJTs from different schools.

On Friday, Valentine’s Day, we participated in the Color Fun Run organized by the Sorsogon Cooperative Union and sponsored by NATCCO. We ran together as a team, including staff from SAFADCO and OJTs from Veritas College of Irosin, CCDI, and BU Gubat, from Rompeolas to Capitol Park, followed by an energizing Zumba session at 5 am in Rompeolas. After arriving at the office by 9 am, we continued sorting member data to determine their loan categories with Ma'am Karla. We also separated journal vouchers and cash vouchers from January to December 2024. On the last day of the week, Saturday, Ma'am Julie instructed us to input details for members' easy loans. I also contacted members regarding their approved loans and updated new members in ekoop from San Juan Roro and Bacon, while preparing documents for five members with approved loans.

February 3 - 8, 2025

We began the week with productivity and positivity. As I mentioned last week, every Monday there is a devotion for SAFADECO employees at the Sorsogon branch. On this day, Ma'am Chloe informed us that we will be leading the prayer each Monday. This Monday, I was the one to lead, followed by Sir Ronald, one of the Department Officers, who recited the mission, vision, and core values of SAFADECO. After that, we were taught how to make journal entries. Before proceeding, Ma'am Belle provided a brief overview of the Daily Cash Position Report (DCPR), which contains the teller's transactions for the day. After the discussion, Ma'am Karla guided us in entering data into Excel, including bank transfers, GCash transactions, and CTS. These entries demonstrated how debit and credit are reflected, labeled as cash on hand and cash in the vault. Once the journal entries were made, we checked whether the trial balance was balanced. In the afternoon, Sir Ryan asked me to input the payments from members for the months of January and February for his PAR report.

On the following day, we attended the Pre-Membership Education Seminar (PMES) with other co-OJTs from Irosin and CCDI. That day, I also calculated the counter receipt for fuel, intended for the Department Officers, and made a journal entry for the DCPR with guidance from Ma'am Karla. The day after that, we decided to decorate the Sorsogon branch for Valentine's Day with heart-shaped balloons and handmade flowers made of crepe paper. In less than an hour, we met co-interns from BU-Gubat, which made the day more productive as we assisted each other in the Valentine's decorations for SAFADECO. Additionally, I helped Ma'am Julie by calling members about their approved loans and printing their disclosure statements. Finally, we gathered 600 pesos in coins and created a CS for the Department Officer’s data. The next day, we were assigned to the front office to assist Ma'am Julie and Marey with assembling loan applications. This included the loan application form, Principal Members Application form for the Kapamilya Plan, Loan Payment Protection Insurance (LPPI), and Cash Flow Analysis. We also wrote down which Department Officer was assigned to each member and updated their loan and savings passbooks. On the last day of our third week as interns, we cleaned the office since some personnel were on their personal days off (PDO). Afterward, we continued decorating for Valentine's Day, as there were still designs left to complete. We finished by double-checking the payment entries for members in DAMAYAN to ensure there were no double payments, as some had been overlooked. This was done based on the statement from Ma'am Belle, the bookkeeper of the Sorsogon branch.

January 27 - February 1, 2025

This week, we began each day with a morning devotion held every Monday, involving employees from SAFADECO’s Savings and Credit Department. The devotion includes a review of SAFADECO's mission, vision, and core values, and is led by a different employee each Monday. On the following day, we collected peso coins totaling one hundred pesos, which were then combined to make two hundred pesos. Afterward, I wrote down the list of members along with their IDs in coordination with Sir Russell Legaspi. Additionally, Ma'am Chloe instructed us to gather data on members employed in government positions. If we found any, we recorded the starting date of their first government job. We then compiled the data collection sheets for each Department officer.

January 16-18, 2025

First three days as an intern in SAFADECO where I met Ma'am Grace one of the HR manager , Ma'am Chloe the branch manager, other employees including the teller, bookkeeper and department officers aside from that are the immersion students of Gubat.

We assigned at the back of office where Ma'am Belle and Karla was the one who will handle us, at first we arranged the loan and savings passbook of members alphabetically. The day after that Ma'am Karla told us to find the TIN numbers of each member and checked if the data belongs on them. Sir Ryan was also able to present the PMES (Pre-Membership Education Seminar) and conclude us as audience to observe and gain knowledge about SAFADECO including the brief history, mission, core values, goal, loan offers, the product and services, also on how to be a member and the duties and responsibilities being a member of SAFADECO.
