Person B: "Yes. Minor misunderstanding."
Person A: "??? Minor?????"

☆ "They told me who I was. I don't recognize that person at all."
☆ "You loved someone who wore my face. I don't know if I can be them again."
☆ "Don't tell me everything at once. Let me find some of it myself."
☆ "I know I'm supposed to feel something when I look at you. I'm waiting for it."
☆ "You're a stranger to me. The saddest part is I can tell I wasn't to you."
☆ "My hands remember things my mind doesn't. That terrifies me."
☆ "Everyone keeps telling me who I was. Nobody is asking who I want to be."
☆ "I fell in love with you twice. Once before and once just now."
☆ "You kept everything. Every photo every letter. What do I do with that kind of love?"
☆ "I don't remember our history but I remember how you make me feel. Is that enough?"
☆ "Don't grieve me while I'm still standing here. I can't bear that."
☆ "I lost my past but I still have a future. I'm trying to focus on that."
☆ "You're the only thing that feels familiar and I can't explain why."
☆ "I know I loved you. I can feel the shape of it even if I've lost the details."
Caretaker Lines!!
✮ "Stop trying to act tough. You're shaking."
✮ "When did this happen? Why didn't you tell me sooner?"
✮ "Hold still--I know it stings, but I have to do this."
✮ "You scared me half to death, you know that?"
✮ "I've got you. You don't have to hold yourself up anymore."
✮ "Just breathe. In and out. I'm right here."
✮ "You're going to need stitches and I swear, if you say you're fine one more time--"
✮ "Don't argue with me right now. Just let me help you."
✮ "I'm not going anywhere, so stop telling me to leave."
✮ "Can you squeeze my hand? I need to know you can hear me."
✮ "You're running a fever on top of everything else. Of course you are."
✮ "I found you on the floor. Do you understand how terrifying that was?"
Soft Caretaking Dialogue
“Are you okay? Come here…”
“No, no, stay down. I’ll handle it.”
“Where were you? I was worried sick.”
“I made you some soup and tea…”
“Ssh… It’s okay…”
“You’ll freeze to death in that. Come, I have a change of clothes for you.”
“You look pale. When’s the last time you ate?”
“The ground doesn’t look very comfortable. Come on, put your head in my lap.”
“You’re freezing. Take my jacket.”
“Stay down, you idiot. You’re done for the day.”
“I got you.”
“Come on, let’s get you in bed.”
“What happened to you? You’re dripping! Did you not dress for the rain?”
“I got you flowers to aid in your recovery.”
“You look good like this. All careless and comfy…”
“I’m not going anywhere.”

the thing about media literacy is that understanding why the author chose to specify that the curtains are blue is the same skill set as understanding that the way the author characterizes all black characters as angry or all chinese characters as meek and silent is racist. it is the same skill set as being able to identify when a news source is biased or when someone is feeding you propaganda. the ability to ask "why did this person choose to present this premise in this specific way?" is a critical skill in a world full of misinformation. why are the curtains blue? maybe it's a characterization detail. maybe it's extraneous worldbuilding. why is this character written as being right all the time? maybe you're intended to disagree with them. maybe it doesn't matter. maybe you should still ask why.
“Humans are space orcs” and “humans are delicate beings” can and should co-exist.
Humans who can eat/drink/withstand things that most aliens cannot. Humans who will do anything for the beings they love. Humans who can push through things physically impossible in emergency situations.
Humans who can’t eat a lot of alien cuisine. Humans who have no natural protection. Humans who have surprisingly dull or even missing senses. Humans who need a specific, relatively small temperature range to even function.
Humans who are both able to withstand extremes and easily be harmed.
Writing Prompt: Dialogue

Story where humans meet sentient aliens. But they don’t really know how to communicate at first bc they have no means of translation so while they sometimes visit each other they try to stay out of each other’s business. But a crew of aliens is forced to adopt a baby human. And they manage to figure out how to take care of her from people by showing her to humans and doing various gestures. And they spend lots of time studying videos of humans to help them learn.
And the baby watched these videos too. So she ends up bilingual in both alien and human languages. And she is the reason translations between the two species is unlocked
i really hate 'power of love' stories not because i'm a jaded cynic or whatever but because i always find something deeply offputting and misanthropic in how they are almost always set up in a way that implies that the protagonist is the only person in the world capable of love
for your story to hinge on "our protagonist's love is powerful enough to conquer all the evils of the world" you kind of have to implicitly make the backdrop "everyone else's love is garbage, just trash, philosophical zombies the lot of them"
Writing Prompt #3990
"You know this is a trap."
"And you know I can't just leave my son to die."
"I hope you have a good plan."
"I hope we're feeling lucky."
Slow-Burn Longing Writing Ideas
⭒ A character starts reading books the other person mentioned months ago in passing, just to have something to talk about next time.
⭒ Two people develop an elaborate system of inside jokes that no one else understands, building their own private language.
⭒ One character realizes they've memorized the other's schedule and actively avoids examining why they know it so well.
⭒ Someone starts wearing a specific cologne/perfume because the other person once said they liked that scent on someone else.
⭒ A character finds themselves telling stories differently depending on whether the other person is in the room, performing for an audience of one.
⭒ Two people always end up as the last ones talking at parties, neither one willing to be the first to leave.
⭒ One character keeps almost-gifts in a drawer at home, things they bought thinking of the other person but were too afraid to give.
⭒ Someone starts taking a longer route to work because it passes the other person's building, just for the possibility of a glimpse.
⭒ A character finds themselves comparing everyone they date to someone they've never actually dated, and everyone falls short.
Haunted by the Past Writing Ideas
⭒ A character keeps their ex's number saved under a fake name, and sometimes types out messages at 2am they never send.
⭒ Someone discovers their childhood home is being demolished and realizes they have three days to say goodbye to the ghost of who they used to be.
⭒ A character still sets two places at the table out of habit, then has to put one back every single time.
⭒ Someone finds a playlist they made for a friend who's no longer in their life, and every song feels like evidence in a trial they lost.
⭒ A character takes the long way around their city to avoid a specific street corner where something important ended.
⭒ Someone keeps a voicemail from a dead relative and panics every time their phone storage gets low, terrified of losing the only recording of that voice.
⭒ A character realizes they still know their old phone number by heart but can't remember their current one.
⭒ Someone sees a person who looks exactly like their lost loved one from behind and follows them for three blocks before reality crashes back.
⭒ A character finally throws away the shirt they were wearing the day everything changed, then immediately regrets it and digs through the trash.
⭒ Someone drives past their old apartment and sees new curtains in the window, and feels violently erased.
⭒ A character still flinches when they hear a certain name, even though it's been years and they should be over it by now.

(trying to give relationship advice) from a narrative perspective i think both of you dying together would be the most emotionally satisfying resolution but i’m guessing that’s not what you want to hear
