  it was difficult for jason not to smile in the presence of the tameranean. kori had always been one of the few things in jason’s life that stopped him from spiraling in the way that, at this point, he felt like he was destined to. “i don’t think we’re talkin’ about the same jason here, princess.” there’s a faint smile forming to his lips as a hand reaches to rub idly at the back of his neck. “nice t’know someone’s got faith in me, though.” an elbow’s digging playfully into her side. his expression will fall slightly as it comes to light just how much she and roy’s presence affected his life. it had been a lonely year without his team… his family. “everything good with you? need t’know whose ass i gotta kick.”

any other person might believe him whenever he protested her thoughts about him. the red hood wasn’t known for being the most ethical crime fighter out there. before she had gotten to know him even she was wary given the stories she had heard. he had been constantly used as a cautionary tale, a story of what not to do for the younger do gooders. but knowing him now, being his friend, becoming his family she liked to think she knew more or less who he was now. as different as they were they were also similar in what they needed was someone to be there, someone to listen, to take a chance on them. they needed someone to love them without judgement. “ probably not, you tend to see the worst version of yourself. “ she shook her head. “i will always have faith in you jason, no matter what you do. who cares about what anyone says? i know at the end of the day everything you do is with a good heart and good intentions. “ the tameranean rolled her eyes slightly and laughed. “ nothing out of the ordinary. just trying to understand everyone’s sides in this disagreement going on within the mansion. i appreciate the sentiments but you don’t believe i could kick someone’s ass on my own? “

“ So, “ she paused to take a sip of her drink. Rose was on her fourth, maybe five, glass of champagne.  “ What do you think of this new fraternity thing? “  She didn’t really have a lot of details about the New Brotherhood and getting to know more about them would be nice. 

“ i believe that everyone has a right to believe in whatever they wish. after all what is hope without any kind of faith in anything? and i can see where it is that they are coming from, having been exiled and enslaved myself. “ kori pursed her lips as she trailed off in thought. “ but there has to be a better way to do things. i am not saying that violence is wrong. i am just saying that it shouldn’t be our knee jerk reaction. thinking that way....it makes us no better than the people we’re fighting. ”

kori sat on her bed, her back against the headboard as she read the paper to see what the media was making of the spectacle that was the gala. it didn’t take long before she had to look away from all of the false information being spread but her attention soon turned to roy. more often than not they ended up in one of the each others rooms by the end of the night finding solace in each others presence. their personal spaces slowly becoming shared spaces. it had been a thing that had started during their time as outlaws, all three of them had become comfortable with each other. she narrowed her eyes at him for a few seconds before throwing her pillow at him to catch his attention. “So, no pressure or anything, but i am just curious when you are going to ask me out on that proper date that you mentioned a while ago.” She asked with a smirk. “Sometime this century perhaps? Or did you already get cold feet?”

“ i have. a couple of times actually. and in more ways than just romantic love. i fall in love everyday with people’s hearts and souls.“

“ yes. there’s bound to be more than just one person out there for everyone. but that does not mean you cannot continue loving someone even when you’ve moved on. especially if said person is one of your best friends. “

“ at the moment i believe my hands are pretty full with my dummies. but you never know what could happen. i have plenty of love to give. “

wally: after having had created a vortex to push the sentinels back to the opposite side of the large passageway, wally dashed back to his friends to help and ward off any incoming attacks. when he noticed more enemies barging in he sped back and kept a line of defense. it was effective until he heard someone screaming roy's name. wally whipped around and saw his friend lying on the floor. "roy!" in an instant he was beside him, opposite of his other friend donna, the commotion around him seemingly fading in and out. there was a sentinel dangerously closing in on them. before he could do anything donna was already springing up, the fury in her blue eyes an indication of her rampage to come. he redirected his attention back to roy, staring wide eyed at the laceration in his chest as shaky hands hovered above it. "oh god. no, no." he snapped out of it when he heard dick calling him, telling him to take roy away. he nodded as he gathered his friend's lifeless body and took him to the other side to kori and raven. he didn't say anything to them, still in shock. when he sped back to the other side though, he was met with another devastating scene. "no! dick!" he roared as he saw his friend hurled onto a wall. just when he was almost at his side, he caught a flash of yellow in his peripheral vision and then someone slammed into his side with a great force, throwing him off his feet and sliding across the floor. "dick..." he looked over at their sprawled body before his gaze landed on the enemy speedster heading towards him. he let out a high-pitched wail, a combination of both anger and grief, as he regained his stance and zoomed towards the enemy speedster.

wally: "guys, please. this is not the time to be rankling one another." he shook his head as he let out a soft sigh, turning his focus towards kori afterwards to check up on her condition. "we'll get you out of here as soon as possible. heck i can just pick you up and zoom out." it was an enticing plan, save for the fact that he'd leave the rest of the team alone and wally couldn't bring himself to do that. they all had to stick together no matter what. then of course there was one other thing they all had dreaded about... and it was happening now. "shit!" wally muttered as sentinels flooded in from the other end of the passageway. "we gotta get out of this hall now! someone get that door behind us open while i'll try to slow them down!" wally took off before anyone could object, heading straight for the throng of sentinels.

wally: he frowned as he listened to his teammates, eyes roving over the area as he watched for any sudden movements. /"you're right. it felt too easy...almost like they wanted us to break into the base." wally looked over at garth, chuckling softly. "right. i wish that were the case. but i have a bad feeling about this. what if that was their plan and they ambush us any second from now. these people aren't stupid."
