Kayla's last drink was water with flowers steeped into it btw
Kayla sees Ceres spiking the punch, crossing her arms in amusement as it walks over "and what might you be doing, my sun?"
They turn around looking like a spooked cat. "Nothing! Nothing! I was just drinking out of my bottle of drink!" They look so incredibly guilty it was rather amusing actually. "And what are you doing my moon? Apart from looking stunning of course!" They take a swig of their bottle, trying to calm their nerves.
Kayla clearly doesn't believe them, but lets it go with a fond eye roll. "I was coming here to make sure you weren't up to mischief"
It leans up and places a light kiss on their lips "troublemaker. Will it at least do something that'll be entertaining to watch?"
They giggle after the kiss picking up Kayla and spinning around before ducking down, holding on to it by the waist. "How about this?" They plant a kiss onto her lips the dizziness making it feel heavenly.
It closes her eyes and leans closer, deepening the kiss for a moment before pulling away "good try, but the distraction's not gonna work. Besides, we're in public" It takes a step back.
They put the bottle down on the table leaning in. "If you want we can go somewhere nobody will be and read with Neptune, just like old times!" Their voice was barely a whisper, but the amount of joy radiating off of them made their voice stand out above the chatter in the background.
It perks up at the idea, a small smile coming to her face "i would love that! And on the way there you could tell me what you were trying to do with the punch" It cheerfully grabs their hand and drags them with her, clearly not about to let the topic drop.
"Uhmm..." They waited before they were outside to finish the sentence "Yeah you're right I was spiking it..." there was no use lying to it, they learnt that from the few times they did lie years ago. "Where are we going love?" The pair weren't heading towards Ceres' house, that's for sure, That would've been towards the town.
It rolls her eyes fondly "I should have expected as much. And, it's a surprise" her grin is playful
It leads them to a building that is covered in moss and flowers, but its walls are intact and it looks inviting to say the least. They feel a weird tingle in their soul, like a magical pull, but it's gone too fast to place it. Inside are shelves of books, so this is a library of sorts?
Upon closer inspection the books seem to be in good condition, better than they should given the exterior, but Ceres also notes the all the tables and chairs are fine too.
In fact, they notice the library seems to be perfectly normal inside other than for the flowers that grow on the ground and the vines that wind down from the railings above.
They look at the flowers on the floor, plucking one and twisting it into Kaylas horns before kissing the space below it. Why are the books in such good condition if its covered in fauna? "Dear, is this looks perfect! Did you do something to it?" They looked around not paying much attention to the question they just asked. They notice that they were still holding hands smiling slightly at the realisation.
Kalya smiles at the action, loving flowers put on its horns "I did! This library has been here for a long time, I stumbled upon it while out gathering animals. I put ru-... I put some wards around it" She trips up a bit in her explanation.
It was a ritual demon, she made wards, nothing else, nothing changed. The lie feels wrong in her mind, but the truth burns far more.
She tugs the others hand "come on, lets go look for a book Nep will like!" it tries to take attention away from her slip up.
"Hmm..." They chose to ignore the slip-up. they picked out a random book "I can't even read the cover..." they frown the text was some sort of Latin, what a shame...
They walked over to Kayla "Love! You seem to know these books, what do you reccomend? They smile at them hoping she has better luck.
Catching a glimpse of magic out the corner of their eye, its fine. I'll ask about it later.
She looks around âhmm, depends on what youâd like to read! Ive read pretty much everything here, but am still finding some ones I havenât every time I come back interestingly enough.â
It walks over to a shelf and grabs a book, bringing it over âI liked this series a lot actuallyâ she shows the book to them. The cover is red with gold engravings, a slight coating of dust on it but not too much. Itâs called âthe trials of the sunâ.
âThis is the first in âthe trialsâ series. Itâs about a group of space creatures that team up and have to undergo challenges to escape from their captors. Or at least thatâs what the first one isâ
"Sounds great! By the way, you mentioned some wards you placed? Could you show me them? Im looking for more spells to study!" They seemed overjoyed at the prospect of new wards, the book could wait for a bit right?
They picked more flowers from the floor making a sad little bouquet out of them and tucking it in their cape. Totally not for nefarious purposes of seeing how many they could put in Kaylas horns, never... :)
It freezes for a moment before speaking "they aren't usually visible..." she says.
It's true, both runes and wards aren't always able to be seen. Some can only be spotted while creating the magic, while others leave a permanent mark on an object or person.
Kayla does see the flowers being grabbed, and her lips quirk up slightly but it doesn't make any comments.
"Hmmm... I see, its fine, Im just experimenting with runes and magic recently so I was curious, anyways back to the book, you want to read it?" They moved over to a corner filled with pillows and blankets, sinking into it. Feeling Neptune laying down on their chest as they began making a flower crown for her.
Kayla nods and walks to sit across from them, opening the book and clearing her throat "gosh it's been a while since i've done this" it whispers, before shaking out of her stupor.
"A supernova burns bright and blinding, and it's flames destroy planets in it's wake. People flee from danger, but some unknowingly run straight in it's path. Through luck or fate, stars mapping out the road or the flip of a coin, 7 souls find themselves tangled up in a game far greater than the cosmos. Their lives are pawns for the entertainment, and their goal is simple. Win."
They smile, cuddling Neptune as they watched Kayla with such painfull sweetness, to think that they had been missing out on this for so long... This feels so wonderfull. They started to relax into the cushions feeling warm, they saw something out of the corner of their eye...
A speck of blood on the bookshelf catches their eyes. It's not much, but enough to notice.
Kayla doesn't seem to realize their distraction, focusing on telling the story instead.
They were still. There was BLOOD?! They turned to Kayla seeing them mirror their expression. "I thought you said you were here before we arived. Love, what happened?" Their voice was steady if not a bit scared holding Neptune in a way that would protect them, sheilding her with their cloak and arms.
It looks at then confused âyeah, Iâve been here many times. Why, whatâs wrong?â Clearly she doesnât know yet what they saw, or maybe it doesnât know about that at allâŚ
"Why is there blood over there?" They nodded towards the bookshelf before starting to reach beneith their cloak for a weapon, what were the cahnces they found a gun?
"Dear, what exactly happened here?" They tried to make themselves sound calm, not letting go of the gun handle.
Her body tenses, before it forced herself to relax "Don't worry, it's mostly mine" it realizes that probably is more worrisome, and hurries to correct herself "I'm fine thought, it was a long time ago"
It's digging herself into a deeper hole and that really isn't good, but she can work her way out of this, it's good at that usually. It did talk her way out of hell after all, so that has to count for something, right?
They froze "My love why is your blood here?" Their voice softened as they leaned foreward to hold its face, checking for any cuts or damadge.
"Oh thank the gods... I thought for a seccond you were doing some sort of evil rituals or something!" They laughed hoping to break whatever tension remained, then moving to place more flowers in her hair.
Kayla lets out a small laugh, but it's smile is strained "no, nothing evil happens in the library" she says, wondering if Ceres would think that true if they knew. Wondering where the line is drawn for good vs evil.
"I'm just a bit clumsy when i'm relaxed" it explains. For someone who can move like a shadow in the night, once she let's its guard down she trips more often than it would like to admit.
They look confused. "But thats blood... why- how did you fall so you would bleed?" They lean back, combing through its hair with their long nails. "Dear, you have to be more carefull... At the moment any sign of weakness could kill you..." They tried to fake relaxing, smiling weakly.
They didn't trust this story and it was abundently clear in their body language...
Kayla looks at the blood and then away âI knowâ its voice is strained and quiet. She clears its throat âIâm alright though. This library couldnât do too much damage anywaysâ it is tense and avoids looking at Ceres.
â A Grave for a Stranger | Episode 8 RP starter (Open!)
Potential spoilers ahead!
Gem didn't know what to do with herself, once the barriers fell away. Their heart, unbeating for centuries, jumped in their chestâlike there was something she needed to do. Soundlessly, she chose to become a bat, flying to the dead woods. They'd need materials for this.
Coming to the woods, the eye blossoms watched her with scrutiny. They watched as the petals danced in the now-howling winds. The glow of resin began to cling to the trees.
As she gathered materials for a grave, you saw her from the Obelisk.
Do you approach?
Ceres was foraging for supplies when they felt the barrier lift. A feeling of overwhelming freedom surrounded them, dancing around their figure, gifting Ceres with a part of them they missed oh so dearly.
They could shapeshift again.
As they looked around to see if they were alone their eyes landing on Gem, walking silently behind a tree standing perfectly still as to not spook her. Transforming back could wait... right?
Gem's back stiffened. Someone was watching her.
"Who's there? Show yourself. I'm not above fighting, if I must."
They sighed. Despite the need to hide, she continued to collect materials before departing.
They awkwardly shuffled behind gem, tackling her to the forest floor with a hug. "Hiii!"
They sounded and looked more alive, more real. You try to place what was wrong before but nothing comes to mind.
"Bambi what are you doing?!" They beam, they sound different... Whatever distortion was placed on their voice had vanished.
"D-Darling!" She drops what they're doing, and hug Ceres excitedly, before her voice softens into something fragile, almost scared. "I⌠I'm collecting materials for a grave. Something in my soul is telling me toâŚ"
"Do you want me to help?" They smiled up at her, kissing the corners of her mouth. Right now, everything is fine... nothing can go wrong. "I already have the equipment to help but is it ok if I shapeshift into a more comfortable form for this?"
"Oh, of course! I'm so happy you can be more comfortable, dear. I don't know if I'll need any help, it'd be quite a simple design⌠But I will need redstone, before I go." She sighed. Why were they even making this grave?! It wasn't for a member of Oakhurst. But it felt⌠Necessary, somehow, to lay the stranger in the back of her mind to rest here.
"I think I might have some In here somewhere... Aha!" They pull out a bit of redstone, maybe 7-8 peices.
They stood up, taking off most of their layers, leaving only their undershirt and trousers. They forced themselves to think of it as anything but what it was. Going through the process of shapeshifting was intimate, you would only assume reatanging your body would be somewhat personal.
They started to relax before getting to work on making themself more human. It looked wonderfull, shapes and colours swirling around them in a watercolour masterpiece. When they finished they had removed any amputations left by the beacons and had made themself look like a picture perfect human model. Nice.
"My darlingâŚ" She kissed Ceres's head. "No matter what you look like, I find you stunning. And⌠Thank you for the redstone." They murmured, quietly finding a clearing and beginning to mark the spot with a grave. "Ever since the barriers rose, I've felt⌠Different. Like the barriers were hiding memories from me. And⌠And I think I had a brother." They whisper. Odd, grief. Even erased, the wound felt fresh.
They watched as she marked the grave, putting back on theit cloak and outer layers. "Hmm... a brother...? Go on..." They moved over to look over her shoulder at the beginnings of a grave.
"You look gorgeous my love... Never die..."
"I don't plan on itâŚ" She wrapped them in a hug, thr embrace grounding them. "I don't remember much of him, unfortunately⌠But I think we were twins. Mirror images of one another. He was⌠He always had a way with explosives, I believe. I wish I knew more, but alasâŚ"
Unknown to Gem, wings cut through the back of her clothesâdragon wings. Strange, iridescent things; too light, too full of life, for the monster they'd become.
"Thats nice love... Im sorry you lost him, I hope he finds peace in the afterlife..." They buried their head in her neck, kissing her slowly before leaning slightly back. Wait... were these wings...? "Dear...? Do you have wings...?" They moved their hamds to brush against her wings, smiling against the fabric of Gem's shirt.
"I hope so too⌠From what I understand so far, he deserves peace. And⌠Wings? What do you mean?" Confusion laced her voice, but looking back, she sees them. Bone-white wings now sprout from their back, connected by thin films of amethyst. Panicked, she looks to Ceres. "What'sâ Iâ These were never here, I-I don't understandâ What's happening?!ââŚ"
They hummed a tune, trying to relax her. "Its ok! Its ok. Everything will be alright..." They held her close, rubbing circles into her back for a while.
They took a step back, moving to take a closer look at the wings. "Do you feel any pain?" They looked up at her. "Id like to check to see if these are damadged either way, is that ok?"
"Y-Yeah, yeah, that's okay. H-Here." Shyly, Gem removed the now-torn garmets they wore. "I'm not really in any pain, just⌠confused. This is the first I'm learning of, having wings?"
They focused on the wings, hands skating over the surface, checking for any damage. There were some minor bruises at the base but that's to be expected with new wings... they let out a breath, ignoring how close they were to her back. "Your wings are fine, there's just some minor damage to the base but thats normal. Just don't go ripping them anytime soon ok? Ill have to fix them up..." They wrapped their arms around her waist, avoiding her wings.
"And what a horrible thing that would beâŚ" She leans into him, finding comfort in their lover. "May⌠May I have a kiss, darling..? I have so dearly missed youâŚ"
They leaned over her, cape covering the pair in a warm embrace. "You may have a kiss..." He moved closer, millimeters apart. Breathing out a laugh they looked up at her eyes, gods she was beautiful... always had been always will be...
"Absolutely stunningâŚ" She kisses Ceres gently, adoring. "I'm so honoured to have youâŚ" The love passes between the two, shared and cherished for eternity.
They moved impossibly closer, hands dancing around her waist, humming into the kiss. "And I am honoured to have you my dear..." She grinned, their voice was sickeningly sincere. Affection and love resonating off them...
"Will⌠When we leave, will you⌠Can we live together? Find, or build, a home? I can't imagine living without you, any longerâŚ" She clung to them, desperate to love Ceres.
"I would love nothing more then to stay with you..." They muttered, swaying back and forth. Holding one of the most precious gems feels so wonderfull. "We can build a house on the seaside! Or maybe we could simply take over a lighthouse and become the rulers of the sea!" They laughed, kissing her again, feeling the cold, soft skin under her lips.
"Yeah! I could get a job as a lighthouse keeper, and we can stay away from the humans, like that!" She smiles, scooping up their darling.
He blinked, picking up her shirt from the floor and promptly trying, and failing, to cover her with their cloak. "That would be wonderfull! Just dont forget to cover up." Sheepishly, they adjusted the cloak to sit comfortably on her shoulders before leaning against her.
Gem laughs, holding Ceres close. "Shall we away, my darling dove? Find our home?"
"Shouldn't we kidnap Kayla first?" They laugh, looking at her with unbearable fondness and mischief.
"Oh, absolutely! Let's go find our pretty little firecracker." Gem giggles with Ceres.
The pair of them ran off towards Kayla's house, hiding, waiting for the perfect time...

Kayla was sitting on her doorstep, a small frown on its face as her eyes were unfocused. She let the head of a chicken in its arms, whispering unheard words to the wind. It was in her human form, but a slight red glow came from its eyes.

"Kayla? Firecracker? Are you home?" Gem knocked softly, managing to hide their wings, as to not scare her lover. "Ceres and I came to get you, so we could all live together, away from hereâŚ"

They turn around looking like a spooked cat. "Nothing! Nothing! I was just drinking out of my bottle of drink!" They look so incredibly guilty it was rather amusing actually. "And what are you doing my moon? Apart from looking stunning of course!" They take a swig of their bottle, trying to calm their nerves.
Kayla clearly doesn't believe them, but lets it go with a fond eye roll. "I was coming here to make sure you weren't up to mischief"
It leans up and places a light kiss on their lips "troublemaker. Will it at least do something that'll be entertaining to watch?"
They giggle after the kiss picking up Kayla and spinning around before ducking down, holding on to it by the waist. "How about this?" They plant a kiss onto her lips the dizziness making it feel heavenly.
It closes her eyes and leans closer, deepening the kiss for a moment before pulling away "good try, but the distraction's not gonna work. Besides, we're in public" It takes a step back.
They put the bottle down on the table leaning in. "If you want we can go somewhere nobody will be and read with Neptune, just like old times!" Their voice was barely a whisper, but the amount of joy radiating off of them made their voice stand out above the chatter in the background.

It leads them to a building that is covered in moss and flowers, but its walls are intact and it looks inviting to say the least. They feel a weird tingle in their soul, like a magical pull, but it's gone too fast to place it. Inside are shelves of books, so this is a library of sorts?
Upon closer inspection the books seem to be in good condition, better than they should given the exterior, but Ceres also notes the all the tables and chairs are fine too.
In fact, they notice the library seems to be perfectly normal inside other than for the flowers that grow on the ground and the vines that wind down from the railings above.

Kayla nods and walks to sit across from them, opening the book and clearing her throat "gosh it's been a while since i've done this" it whispers, before shaking out of her stupor.
"A supernova burns bright and blinding, and it's flames destroy planets in it's wake. People flee from danger, but some unknowingly run straight in it's path. Through luck or fate, stars mapping out the road or the flip of a coin, 7 souls find themselves tangled up in a game far greater than the cosmos. Their lives are pawns for the entertainment, and their goal is simple. Win."
They smile, cuddling Neptune as they watched Kayla with such painfull sweetness, to think that they had been missing out on this for so long... This feels so wonderfull. They started to relax into the cushions feeling warm, they saw something out of the corner of their eye...
A speck of blood on the bookshelf catches their eyes. It's not much, but enough to notice.
Kayla doesn't seem to realize their distraction, focusing on telling the story instead.
Avid has finally decided to listen to what the town has to say. No one eats garlic on its own.
All day avid has been out, grabbing vegetables and preparing the food. Two plates of fresh bread and a large pot of pumpkin soup, cooked with more garlic than needed.
He stands at the well made table in his and drifts house. Cloth laid out over the pine wood, 14 bowls sitting out waiting.
He'd left signs all over town, told almost everyone in person. Tonight a meal all together. He said he wants to apologise for the way he treated the town and the members he'd accused. He doesn't want to invite them in, but where else is there? They really need a community space...
Avid sighs, glancing at the door waiting for a knock.

Kayla paces in front of here door, debating on whether to go or not. On the one hand, itâs free food and it might make her be seen as less of an outcast, on the other hand it would have to potentially talk to a lot of people. She was surprised when Avid came in person to give the invitation, not expecting him to even know where it lives, but nonetheless the other appeared at her door and told her to come there. With a heavy sight she grabs her sword and tucks it in itâs sheath, heading to Avidâs house.
A few minutes later she knocks on the door and waits, shoulders tense and already on edge.
Avid rushes to the door, swinging it open. He smiles widely at the sight of Kayla. "Hello! Welcome!" He steps to the side to let the other in, but he doesn't openly invite them in.
"I'm so glad you came, I honestly wasn't expecting you..." He admits.
She slowly enters the house, looking around a bit tense "well, you went through all the trouble of finding my cabin, i figured it was only polite to come."
It stands off to the side, arms crossed and breathing manually controlled, it was just a dinner, there was no reason to work herself up.
"is there... anything you need help with" she asks, itching to do something useful and distract itself from the worry.
Avid closes the door behind her. "Hmm..." He hums, looking at the table. "No- I think everything's handled- nothing to do but talk and wait for the others to arrive"
Avid walks back to the table, glancing out the window as he sits back in his spot. "So... How've you been?"
She nods and walks further inside, leaning against the wall with her arms comfortably crossed. âGood i suppose. Mostly sticking to my usual routine, but sometimes a change is nice too, part of the reason im here really. Itâs nice to get out of the cabin sometimesâ
It looks around as she speaks âSo, mind filling me in on the real reason for such a sudden gathering? Iâm sorry, but i donât believe you did this without some other intentions.â Sheâs not actually sorry, but might as well be polite, especially to the host.
"I- I'm just trying to bring the town together!" Avid looks away, putting his hands up. "I just wanted us all to get along for a while-" He chuckles awkwardly, glancing at the soup on the table.
It is clearly unimpressed by the excuse. She sighs "you don't have to tell me if you don't want, but i'd prefer you didn't take me as a fool and lie straight to my face"
It walks over to look at the foods on the table, mind easily clicking the pieces together "garlic? ah, so this is a vamp trap?" she looks over its shoulder at him.
Avid looks up as Kayla speaks, feeling the knot in his throat settle.
"-I... Yeah" He admits, not feeling much of a reason to lie to the other. He doesn't think she's a vampire. Nor does she seem too surprised by the trap.
"Is it that obvious?" He asks.
It shrugs "kinda? I can also be pretty perceptive, but i don't think this is trap is as well hidden as you think" she says, not mockingly but genuine.
"mind if i have a bite while we're waiting? I'm famished" it knows this food won't really give her any nutrients, but sue her it likes garlic bread and the meal smells really good.

She knows a lot about demons, being one herself, but this one is different than any she's interacted with, other than Them.
The mere memory brings a shiver through her spine and it reaches for its sheathed sword, but she's stopped from drawing it.
There's something familiar about this demon, the hair and that anxious look in its eyes reminder it of someone.
"Avid?" She asks, wondering if it could really be him. It doesn't know what happens with the vampires unless she stumbles upon one, but it never expected to see the newest turn into a demon. Something's not right here.

It decides not "why are you out this here? The castle is kinda far from here and there aren't any beacons close by" She knows this answer might also help reveal what it really wants to know, and she also feels sorry for what it knows is a newly turned demon, still learning all that entails
"It's um- kinda hard to explain...But long story short I don't want to scare everyone with uh- how I look and all..."
He seems nervous, his tail starts to flick without him realizing.
Kayla notices the movement, but doesn't pay it too much mind "I guess I understand your concern" it sighs, crossing her arms.
"But, even if you look different you're still the same Avid, right?" It raises its eyebrow.
"Yes! I mean I don't think I'm different really..."
Avid brings his right hand to run his fingers over a patch of extremely void like skin, it's not intentional. It almost seems like he's doing it to assure himself he's still him.
âThen I personally donât see the problem. I can understand your fear, truly I do, but if they actually cared about you theyâre not gonna stop just because you look different. This was always who you were, your demon side being revealed didnât fundamentally change who you are as a personâ it says calmly. She offers a small smile âi think you should go find them, theyâre probably worriedâ
"...Yeah- Yeah you're right...Thank you for having this talk with me...I really needed it. I- I'm going to go try and find them- is it okay if I go do that?"
Avid smiles, finally seeming a but happy for one of the first times since he died and came back.
She nods "I can't keep you here, and i have no desire to. I should probably get back home anyways"
It turns around and heads to the trees, glancing back once more to say "Good luck" before disappearing into the forest.

He hears a twig snap and before he can fully turn around he finds himself pinned against a tree, a dagger to his throat and an arm across his chest keeping him in place.
Pitch black eyes with red diamond shaped pupils make an image of Pyro's face flash into the forefront of his mind, but with a few moments he realizes this isn't them.
"What are one of you doing her- Avid?â Its eyes widen, dagger moving slightly away from his throat but not put down yet. She studies him âyou- this- what happened?â It seems confused and a bit concerned.
Avid had just looked at the sun for the first time in who knows how long and he had already found himself at theoretical gunpoint. Oh god, Pyro had come back. Or was it Owen? He didnât know. He prepared to be staked again, to die. Like, actually die this time.
But that stake never came. He opened an eye, attempting to study the face. "Iâ uh.. Iâm sorry?" Did he know this person? Maybe he hit his head in the hole. He probably did.
He hadnât actually seen himself yet. He didnât know what was wrong, except for an uncomfortable feeling on his neck where his scratch was. He hadnât calmed down at all. There was a knife to his throat, how could he? He had died once already. He didnât want to die again.
"I⌠uhm.. I donâtâ I donât know. I died? Iâm sorry,"
"Do I know you?"
It lowers her knife more at the fear in his voice "I don't blame you for not remembering me" It studies him for a moment before taking a step back.
"We haven't talked much, and perhaps you forgot, but I live in the forest, not oakhurst." The knife is still held in her hand, but it's not pointed at him any more.
"You died... again?" It frowns, a confused expression on her face. She's clearly trying to figure out what's happening here.
"Iâm sorry. I.. uh⌠yeah." Avid rubbed his throat. A dagger to the neck didnât feel great. And being slammed against a tree didnât either, especially not with a stake in your chest. Mhm.. yeah, youâd think heâd remember them if they lived in town.
Avidâs gaze follows the dagger, a small frown set on his face. He kind of wished she just dropped it. Didnât feel great. This reminded him of something, couldnât place it. Maybe you being threatened with a stake?
"Yeah. I- uh, yeah. I did. I donât know where anyone is.. did they leave? Are⌠are Pyro and Owen still here?"
It tilts her head, aware of his nervous gaze on her weapon but not quite ready to put it away until it's sure she's safe "I can't say i have. Why are you looking for them?"
It's eyes look at the stake in his chest, only now really registering it being there. A few pieces click for her, but the puzzle is far from complete "also, you might wanna take that out. it won't do much damage, but it probably doesn't feel good" She points at the weapon.
Kayla sees Ceres spiking the punch, crossing her arms in amusement as it walks over "and what might you be doing, my sun?"
They turn around looking like a spooked cat. "Nothing! Nothing! I was just drinking out of my bottle of drink!" They look so incredibly guilty it was rather amusing actually. "And what are you doing my moon? Apart from looking stunning of course!" They take a swig of their bottle, trying to calm their nerves.
Kayla clearly doesn't believe them, but lets it go with a fond eye roll. "I was coming here to make sure you weren't up to mischief"
It leans up and places a light kiss on their lips "troublemaker. Will it at least do something that'll be entertaining to watch?"
They giggle after the kiss picking up Kayla and spinning around before ducking down, holding on to it by the waist. "How about this?" They plant a kiss onto her lips the dizziness making it feel heavenly.
It closes her eyes and leans closer, deepening the kiss for a moment before pulling away "good try, but the distraction's not gonna work. Besides, we're in public" It takes a step back.
They put the bottle down on the table leaning in. "If you want we can go somewhere nobody will be and read with Neptune, just like old times!" Their voice was barely a whisper, but the amount of joy radiating off of them made their voice stand out above the chatter in the background.
It perks up at the idea, a small smile coming to her face "i would love that! And on the way there you could tell me what you were trying to do with the punch" It cheerfully grabs their hand and drags them with her, clearly not about to let the topic drop.
"Uhmm..." They waited before they were outside to finish the sentence "Yeah you're right I was spiking it..." there was no use lying to it, they learnt that from the few times they did lie years ago. "Where are we going love?" The pair weren't heading towards Ceres' house, that's for sure, That would've been towards the town.
It rolls her eyes fondly "I should have expected as much. And, it's a surprise" her grin is playful
It leads them to a building that is covered in moss and flowers, but its walls are intact and it looks inviting to say the least. They feel a weird tingle in their soul, like a magical pull, but it's gone too fast to place it. Inside are shelves of books, so this is a library of sorts?
Upon closer inspection the books seem to be in good condition, better than they should given the exterior, but Ceres also notes the all the tables and chairs are fine too.
In fact, they notice the library seems to be perfectly normal inside other than for the flowers that grow on the ground and the vines that wind down from the railings above.
They look at the flowers on the floor, plucking one and twisting it into Kaylas horns before kissing the space below it. Why are the books in such good condition if its covered in fauna? "Dear, is this looks perfect! Did you do something to it?" They looked around not paying much attention to the question they just asked. They notice that they were still holding hands smiling slightly at the realisation.
Kalya smiles at the action, loving flowers put on its horns "I did! This library has been here for a long time, I stumbled upon it while out gathering animals. I put ru-... I put some wards around it" She trips up a bit in her explanation.
It was a ritual demon, she made wards, nothing else, nothing changed. The lie feels wrong in her mind, but the truth burns far more.
She tugs the others hand "come on, lets go look for a book Nep will like!" it tries to take attention away from her slip up.
"Hmm..." They chose to ignore the slip-up. they picked out a random book "I can't even read the cover..." they frown the text was some sort of Latin, what a shame...
They walked over to Kayla "Love! You seem to know these books, what do you reccomend? They smile at them hoping she has better luck.
Catching a glimpse of magic out the corner of their eye, its fine. I'll ask about it later.
She looks around âhmm, depends on what youâd like to read! Ive read pretty much everything here, but am still finding some ones I havenât every time I come back interestingly enough.â
It walks over to a shelf and grabs a book, bringing it over âI liked this series a lot actuallyâ she shows the book to them. The cover is red with gold engravings, a slight coating of dust on it but not too much. Itâs called âthe trials of the sunâ.
âThis is the first in âthe trialsâ series. Itâs about a group of space creatures that team up and have to undergo challenges to escape from their captors. Or at least thatâs what the first one isâ
"Sounds great! By the way, you mentioned some wards you placed? Could you show me them? Im looking for more spells to study!" They seemed overjoyed at the prospect of new wards, the book could wait for a bit right?
They picked more flowers from the floor making a sad little bouquet out of them and tucking it in their cape. Totally not for nefarious purposes of seeing how many they could put in Kaylas horns, never... :)
It freezes for a moment before speaking "they aren't usually visible..." she says.
It's true, both runes and wards aren't always able to be seen. Some can only be spotted while creating the magic, while others leave a permanent mark on an object or person.
Kayla does see the flowers being grabbed, and her lips quirk up slightly but it doesn't make any comments.
"Hmmm... I see, its fine, Im just experimenting with runes and magic recently so I was curious, anyways back to the book, you want to read it?" They moved over to a corner filled with pillows and blankets, sinking into it. Feeling Neptune laying down on their chest as they began making a flower crown for her.
