With that being said, I’m writing a standalone chapter retelling how Zoro and Luffy met and became friends. Because this scene from the Hungry Days commercial has been the driving force behind this fic and I NEED TO WRITE IT.

So I’m lowkey a sucker for those cute little “taking care of my sick friend/crush” plots in shows so this was really fun to mess with

I remember the manga mentioning Luffy never got sick but if he ever did, I think he’d be a grumpy, miserable sick, joy and whimsy GONE because everything just feels off, and he can’t do anything about it but sit still for a few days (I’m definitely not the same way, why’d you ask)

You notice it a lot in the anime of course, but especially reading the manga, I feel like there are so many times where Zoro's idiocy is only a genuine parallel of Luffy's to remain on the same page as him. Don't get me wrong, they're both dumb as hell - but the amount of times something Zoro's saying comes off as nothing more than a push in the right direction for Luffy to figure something out or simply Zoro playing dumb to be in complete and total agreeance with his beloved captain is insane.

It's always either "Hey Luffy, what do you think of this?" when it's time to get the guy to lock in, or "Yeah, that's just how it is." after hearing the way Luffy has already taken an adamant stance on something that may be objectively not true, but won't hurt anyone.

We don’t talk enough about how Zoro tosses his swords aside at Thriller Bark. Once he makes his decision and is told by Kuma that taking on Luffy’s pain would kill him, Zoro removes all three of his swords and just… yeets them. Symbolically, this is huge. This is Zoro giving up everything for Luffy. No hesitation. He even throws Wado!
