I’m gonna keep shouting this from every rooftop I can: The Wandering Inn is easily my all-time favorite fantasy universe right now.

The worldbuilding? Massive.

The characters? Unforgettable.

The storytelling? Chef’s kiss.

The emotional damage? Worth it. 😭

I’m 20+ books deep across the main series and spin-offs… and somehow still desperate for more. If you love epic fantasy with heart, humor, and some absolutely wild twists, go read it.

Yes. Yes to all of that. Especially the emotional damage being worth it.

Also I love how the goblin characters are three dimensional and the goblin culture is so deep. Gothica and Numbtongue are such a fucking fun characters - who doesn’t want to see a goblin rock out with an electric guitar or eviscerate an enemy with fashion and cutting insults?

And finally, the Wandering Inn goblins don’t have any stupid money or greed bullshit associated with them so they are not in any way a coded antisemitic metaphor. This is vanishingly rare.

Pirateaba is doing great work and I didn’t even get to the mechanics of how magic users work cause it’s so cool, and the fucking pirates! The politics! The fascinating take on necromancy!

why are greek mythology adaptations always so gritty when there’s so many weird ridiculous antics to pull from. helen of troy not knowing how to cheer up telemachus so she drugs him to not feel any emotions and calls it a night. athena divinely intervening to curl odysseus’ hair so he looks sexy enough to successfully beg for help. aphrodite trying to help her kid on the battlefield and having to run away immediately because she gets beat up by a random mortal. achilles’ horse prophesying death to him and then never speaking again
