I have Ouga running in the background and it tells me when I have new activity on Tumblr, which is nice, but there's a delay, so by the time I hear the notification I've usually already seen it, lol.

Interval Hectval Pt 3 Relc's POVs are getting hard to read, not because they're boring or painful or anything, but just because I feel the stress! lol See I can relate to Relc just a little bit. He's a simple yet complex guy, some people think he's an idiot, but he gets the job done. Then something like Cellidel comes along to just ruin all that, and now there's actual responsibilities and stuff to coordinate and think about, and you know they're important and you would never turn your back on them, but aargh! Growing up a lot of the reasons I got angry when something bad happened was not because of the bad thing itself, but because someone or something dared to interrupt my chill. Yes, I know how immature and privileged that sounds now, but I still tend to be pretty layed back when I have a choice, or at least I try to be.

I'm surprised no one's complaining about all the deus ex machina in TWI. Oh don't get me wrong, I love this trope 99.9% of the time! I'm just aware that many people don't. I guess most fans care more about their favorite characters being protected than looking cool or hip, and I'm right there with you!

I like how a theme of TWI is not only that people can change, but that other people need to change to accommodate that first change, like with Embria and the antinium.

I love how so much Big Bang Theory fanfic and conversation is about, "Leonard and Penny really don't belong together, but neither one is a bad person and we don't hate them, so rather than a messy breakup let's make it so they never got together in the first place and pair them with other people." Usually Penny gets paired with another member of the cast and Leonard gets paired with a female OC. Now these are examples of the kind of AUs I like!

Hectval Pt 3 There's something of a pirate or a bandit's casualness along with the eccentricity of Saliss. I think I like her!

Hectval Pt 3 The idea that a bunch of soldiers fighting in a war can just pop back home on leave and then commute back to the war is wild to me, lol.

Hectval Pt 2 Also, I like Olessm. He's not a bad guy, and I like that he's all in for the antinium while most others are still on the fence, but he's still an idiot. You can't just use the same one trick all the time, especially against someone you know is a higher level by far than you!

Interlude, Hectval Pt 2 Alright, I understand that a common thing in the Wandering Inn is to introduce a conflict or situation and then humanize someone on the other side of it, but the middle of the war where it's clear who the opposition is and so much harm has so recently been done might not be the best place to do it. Reading on, I think the point of this chapter may have been just to see how the different groups handle war and its aftermath.

Interlude, Hectval Pt 1 So now it's not only "fuck Wistram," but fuck Manus. I never liked them much to begin with, but this just amps that up to hate. It always just breaks my heart when underdog species are slaughtered just for lack of understanding. Humans and stitchfolk can kill each other all they want. No one is in the right there! Drakes, and even gnolls to an extent, are fair game. But leave my goblins and antinium alone!

There's this trope that happens in TV dramas where a an adult child will go to a parent where they have some unsolved issues. They felt like they weren't the favorite, or loved enough, or given enough attention, Etc. Less often it's another guardian or a teacher. And they'll say, ?Why didn't you give me as much attention as my sibling? Why were you always there for them and not me? Why did you coddle them and mostly leave me to fend for myself emotionally?" And the answer is, "I gave you less attention because I didn't worry about you as much. I knew you were tough enough to handle yourself. Your sibling didn't have that strength!" I'm thinking mostly about Quark and Ishka here, but there are several examples. Regardless of your moral views on this type of parenting, it's also crap. The reality, at least from what I've seen, is that the kid who needs more help is often treated worse, ignored, punished more, and the one who's stronger, more like what the parents think a perfect child should be, is rewarded, treated more gently, and given more chances and the benefit of the doubt more often.

Going home for a visit, I found the diner in town has a little free library! So even if TWI doesn't land with my aunt or cousin, they can still be enjoyed by someone new here! It's a good way to get the word out! Ordering a copy just for the box is probably going a bit far though... I want to support Pirateaba, and I want prizes! lol
