Sometimes you have to just treat yourself like an overtired toddler.

It’s true and highly effective self care. Speak to and treat yourself with the same love and care you would want your child self to be given.

My method of getting kids not to swear at camp was just to appeal to their sense of fairness.

Sometimes I’d work with teenagers and facilitate activities like giant swing or zipline, which involve full-body harnesses that get Wildly Uncomfortable in the crotch areas. The younger kids didn’t mind it, but those burdened by more of the wonderful gifts of puberty had some things to complain about. 

not to harp on this point but the care with which a girl you’ve known for maybe three weeks will ask you “what’s wrong?” if you look even mildly distressed is more emotional labor than you’d receive from any man over the course of six lunar cycles

probably the funniest interaction i’ve had with someone i do not know is the day i had jury duty so my friend pop dropped me off at it and went to class downtown with the agreement she’d pick me up after she got out of class, and if i gout out of jury duty early she’d pick me up from the houston library which was a couple blocks down and easy to walk to and a place you could stay all day with no questions asked
