Kit: I'm still bringing one home. I've got time, I can do all of those things.

Kit: You're an alcoholic. You need help. You take after Drunk Aunt Katie.

Kass: You can not adopt just one. If you get one, get two. I'll take it to the bar with me every day.

Kass: What breed? How old? Shots? House trained? Do they drink liquor?

Kit: Still. WHY ARE YOU PAYING FOR WATER. ITS FREE. I have a tab? I thought I got to drink for free?

Kit: Breed - Cute. Old - Not. Shots - I don't think they drink liquor. House-Trained - They're not in a house.

Kass: BECAUSE IT SPARKLES AND TASTES LIKE MINT LIME.

Kass: Fuck.

Kass: Yes of course you have a tab. You live with me for free, you thought you got to drink for free too?

Kass: So I have to pay money for the dog and then pay more for its shots and then have to house train it? Fuck that.

Adelaide stared blankly down at her table, not paying mind to the fact that she was a single person taking up a table that ideally sat four. Today was going by slow, almost as if it was a week in itself. The second she had woken up, she was ready to go back to bed. Not even her favorite thing–coffee–was seeming to do the trick. After spending more than enough time daydreaming, she finally notices a person standing right at her table. “Hi,” she breathes out, staring up at them for a moment, blinking blankly. “Did you–did you say something?”

Laughing, Kass sunk into the seat across from Addie in the diner and took a drink out of her soda. It was rare for the blonde to go out and grab food in town, but she had been craving a burger and onion rings so here she was. She had been sitting at the counter wondering why she hadn’t asked someone to come with her when she had spotted the familiar brunette and while the girl hadn’t responded to her question asking if she could intrude Kass did anyways. “I’m in dire need of something that does not meet the requirements of the whole 30 diet and gossip. Think you can help?”

Kit: Really? I was just joking, but these guys sure are super cute... They were looking up at me with their big eyes. I can't not adopt one.

Kass: Because I can afford to be basic. And it's like $30 for ten bottles. I'll pay you back. Or just subtract it from your tab depending on you play this.

Kit: Also, what would you do if I brought a puppy home...?

Kass: Sparkling water. The lime cucumber Voss one please.

He had had a plan for the godforsaken town — it had been malleable, folding in on itself. It had been his for the taking — but he turned his back on it for two seconds, and an alliance had been formed. Dante really fucking hated a unified front. What was it Robert Burns had said about best laid plans? He needed to recuperate. That was a task for tomorrow. Tonight, he was drinking. Not enough to loosen his tongue, but enough to open his wallet, apparently. “Free drinks for everyone in the bar on me. I’m feeling generous,” he called out to the people in the surrounding area. He brought his own shot to his lips and took it back. Might as well make a good impression.

What was it with people in her bar lately? This was the second guy in a week to buy the entire bar a round and while she was good with the money, they usually tipped less at the end of the night. For some reason, the higher the tab, the lower the tip it seemed. Not that she was really hurting for the money, but it was the principle of the matter that bothered her. Did no one care about decency? Moving down the bar, Kass stopped in front of Dante and put her hands out in front of her before narrowing her eyes at him. “You better be feeling generous when you sign that receipt. If my tip isn’t at least 20% we’re going to have a major problem and I swear I have no fear in kicking your ass.”

Frustrated or not, he was still a gentleman. He didn’t bust his way past her into the bar like he wanted, but instead leaned on the arch of the door, huffing and puffing at the woman in front of him. “Oh, ha ha. A howling joke. That’s why I’m here instead of there. For the jokes.” Leo considers that Kass isn’t the type to be won over by compliments, but rather shared bitterness, and oh did he have some of that. “Come on. Make me a drink. We can bitch about stupid MCs together and how fuckin’ stupid they are.”

Pushing open the door, Kass turned and headed for the bar. “You better lock it back up behind you. I’m not in the mood to open yet today and with yoga pants the boys are usually a bit more grabby.” Stepping behind the bar, Kass pulled out two glasses, filling her own with coke. “So first off, what made you decide that you hate the wolves. That against crawling into bed with the Brothers? Second. Pick you poison. I got it all.”

Lori inhaled deeply sitting up at the counter and getting herself together as she began to see things more clearly. “Right, sorry,” Taking her hands she rubbed her eyes a few times before taking her bad from the side and standing up. “I’m sorry for the trouble, thanks for the help.” Lori forced a smile onto her face. 

Sighing, Kass couldn’t help but feel even worse. She had never been a fan of the Johnson family, but that was how she was raised. And in a town like Jericho, everyone tended to know everyone’s secrets. Reaching under the bar the blonde grabbed an empty glass and filled it with water before setting it in front of her. “Here, drink this. You’re not causing trouble. In fact out of all of the people that have been here tonight you have been the least of my problems.” Leaning up against the bar, the blonde looked at the woman. “Work a little tough lately or something?”

There was something to laugh about, Kass calling Alessa and riding with the Vixens. That group of women often seemed like the lesser evil to Nessa. At least, they weren’t as ruthless as the Brotherhood. “I wonder how the she-devil would react to you reaching out to her. I would pay to see that.” It was, in a way, how dedicated her friend was to a group of people who seemed unable to see who she truly was. A bunch of macho pricks still living in the past, unable to realized that this woman was worth ten of any of them. Kass had enough passion for both of the Mitchell twins. The fact that they only one they wanted wasn’t interested seemed ironic. “I’m not sure you killing him would help your cause in any way. I feel like them associating with the Wolves, a mixed club, is slightly two faced. I really wonder if they’ll ever change their minds.”

Shaking her head, Kass snorted. It was rare for the blonde, but when she found something extra funny it did happen. “I feel like she would either have a heart attack or would straight up deny me just on principle alone. I mean my dad and Cash were friends and isn’t she basically Robin’s sister? They would never take me out of fear of me letting the Brotherhood know the secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood.” Shrugging her shoulders, Kass turned and grabbed herself and Nessa another drink. “Oh it totally is. But at the end of the day, I have to believe that they know what they’re doing. Or if nothing else, will give me a few months and then let me in with open arms. I just-” Pausing the blonde ran a hand through shoulder length hair. “I just hope that it’s not the end of the Brotherhood Nessa. They’re family. I mean, sure it’d be good for you and your sister if they fell. But... I don’t know what I would do if they fell.”

A charming smile pulled on his lips as he looked at the woman before him. Talented. Beautiful and brought a smile to his face. Thad reached into his back pocket and pulled out his leather wallet from where it had caused a faded mark. It’s home - something that his sister always made fun of him for. Thad counted out five hundred dollars in large bills before sliding it acrossed the bar towards her. “I reckon darlin’ that should be plenty, if not you know where I’ll be. They need it.” He added in between pulls of the beer in his hand. “We need it. This is a whole new animal we’re about to be dealing with. One night of freedom will be worth it.”

Nodding as she took the bills, Kass shoved the money right into in her back pocket not even bothering to give the Brotherhood member change. Even if the bills had covered the entire tab she would have kept the change for a tip that she figured she deserved. Hell, with the way of the world in Jericho and the lack of competition lately she had been working double time to keep the bar moving like the well oiled machine she had expected it to. “Sweetheart, it’s nothing we haven’t dealt with before. Cash knows what he’s doing, at least I like to think he does. And at the end of the day, if it gets you into the belly of the beast then maybe that’s the best way to kill it.” Raising an eyebrow with a slight shake of her head the blonde shrugged her shoulder before pouring another round of shots for the people that still hadn’t gotten their free drink from the man in front of her. “Plus isn’t that how it works in Greek mythology? Time for you all to nut up and be Hercules rather than Hydra.”

“Huh?” The rude awakening was unexpected for Lori. She’d spent an overnight shift at the nursing home and the new of Octavia’s death had been keeping her up. “I’m sorry,” She said getting herself together looking up at the person who’d taken the time to wake her up. “I-I didn’t mean to fall asleep.” 

Kass had felt bad about snapping her fingers, but at the same time she wanted to go home and the only way to do so was to wake the Johnson in front of her. “Look hun, I get it. Your bar is closed up cause of the murder and shit but that doesn’t mean you can sleep here. I fed you and kept the alcoholics from bothering you too much. Is there anything else I can do?”

“You better trademark that before it’s too late, you never know who’s listening,” the girl pauses, taking a look around, as if to say someone could be watching or listening in at that very moment. Just as soon as she started doing this, she was done, turning her attention back to Kass. It was disheartening to hear that people could act in such a way. She knew they could–but at the same time, she wished the reality of the town was different. “At least you’ve got a good handle on things,” the brunette says with a grin. “I mean, things could go a lot worse if they were handled any differently, so kudos to you!” Addie praises, lifting her beer and clinking it with no one in particular, proceeding to take a long drink.

Shrugging her shoulders, Kass threw her arms up in a whatever motion. “Let someone take it. I’m pretty sure I saw it on a sign somewhere in another bar anyways. And if nothing else, my dad told it to me. I definitely doubt that I created it myself though.” Smiling at the brunette, the blonde nodded. She was always proud of the safe environment that she had created for the women that came into her bar. And the fact that it was a bar that was more frequented by men than women and she still was able to create that, she was very proud. “Why let men tear women down when we do it enough? Just call me Superwoman of Jericho.”

Sending Kass home sounded like a good idea. As a matter of fact, they should all go home. Vanessa was tired, so tired of all of this. And it pained her to see her friend this way. This was a great betrayal for Kass. It barely meant anything to Nessa, nothing outside of ‘shits about to get real’ and anxiety. If the Brotherhood was destroyed by the Wolves, she would be happy. “No, I know that this isn’t peace for real. I doubt anyone thinks it,” she sighed deeply. Could she grab her sister and leave town? Would it still be possible? Foolish thoughts, again. “Don’t you get tired of sitting on the sidelines? You have the Brotherhood at heart, more than any of them really. You should be one of them.”

Sighing, Kass ran a hand through her hair and nodded. “Hell yeah I get sick and tired of sitting on the sidelines. But what am I supposed to do? Pack up my shit and call up Alessa? Could you imagine me as a Vixen?” The thought almost made her laugh. Not that she thought any less of the women, but in a way she did. There was something about women being allies with a club that accepted them into their ranks that never made sense to her. If they didn’t think they belonged in a club with men, then they should have allied with the Brotherhood long ago. “The day someone in the club comes to their senses and realizes how much of an asset I am to them for something other than simply pouring them a beer will be a cold day in hell I think Nessa.” The thought pained her, but she knew she was right. “Unless I kill the president myself.”

kahlo: what is a pro-tip/lesson that you learned from your past?

To forgive and forget. When Kit left I held onto a lot of that pent up frustration and anger. I didn’t understand how he could just leave me like that, let alone go and live with our mother. A person who I believed to have basically turned her back on us and abandoned us. If I could do it over, I would have accepted it a bit better so that when I did talk to him our conversations wouldn’t have been so guarded and filled with hate.

botticelli: what is that one moment in your life that makes you feel proud?

The first day that I made it through running the bar on my own with no major mistakes. My dad had just died, and the training wheels were officially off so to say. I was able to make it through all the issues that came up and by the time that it was time to go home I realized that I could do this without a problem and that I was stronger than I thought I was. And could handle more than I thought. 

harring: what is your all-time favorite band, movie, and painting? 

Hmm, All time favorite band would have to be the Casey Donnahew Band. If it was singer based then I would have said George Strait. But alas. Favorite move? The Fox and the Hound. It’s a classic Disney movie that is my go to bad day movie. Favorite painting? Do people have favorite paintings? I guess the Last Supper. But that might also be because it’s the only one I can remember.
