The tendency to blame women and excuse men is present everywhere, in all political spaces, in workplaces, in families. The behavior is so ubiquitous that it must be ingrained, and so deeply that any and all reasoning on its behalf must be post-hoc. People do it because they’ve been trained to since infancy. The near infinite variety of rationales provided—tailored to whatever beliefs or circumstances happen to be present—are a thorough corroboration of that.
