After suffocating myself in the studio with turps at 30+ centigrade yesterday, this is today's studio. Working on a new collection using homemade natural inks. These inks are made from plant matter collected at times of significant memory. One, primarily sloe berries collected on a wonderful 20k hike along the Jurassic coast with hubby. Probably the last time I actually felt relaxed. The other, fallen rose petals collected at the funeral of one of our best friends who tragically passed away during the first covid lockdown. Due to restrictions no more than a handful of loved ones could attend his funeral, so I walked the grounds to collect these. I'm painting with memories. And just like memories, being so natural, I have no idea how these inks will change or fade in time. I've had a few messages so I'll post here. This is Hamish. He is my best mate, my baby, my constant companion and my whole world. Last Thursday he was found horrifically injured from a hit and run. Hamish suffered a smashed hip, broken pelvis which also became detached from his spine. His tail paralysed and left with life changing neurological injuries to his rear end. But he is a fighter and the specialist vets he was referred to just astonishing. All his care, right from the critical moment has been so amazing, me and Chill can't be thankful enough. Hamish has had the pelvic surgery he needed to make him a bit more comfortable and although not yet standing, he is moving around a little more. No filter needed. WIP. I've been asked by several supporters recently to sign my work on the front. I haven't been doing this on my canvases as I felt it interrupted the detail of pigmentation flow.
