i grew up around muslims, i am also trans and leftist.
people in every queer and trans community i go to set an expectation: i should ofrever abandon my muslim past, i should explicitly stop associating yourself with it whatsoever, you either get to be queer or you either get to be raised-muslim.
in reality, there's no such expectation for christianity, and none of them are ready to dismantle their "inner christian" in their heads as much as they expect be to dismantle my "inner muslim"
none fo them get to admit how most first world countries are culturally christian, because christianity is "default" to them, as well as first world, as well as white.
me having a complicated relationship with islam doesn't mean i absolutely despise every piece of it. it means i distanced myself from ummah, but won't hear islamic criticism from non ex muslims at all, because you expect us to dismantle "our inner muslims" in ways you aren't ready to dismantle imperialism and racism in you.
your expectation is us "acting white", you don't want us unless we're that, which means you don't want us at all.
a lot of people claiming to want to uplift brown queer voices and such don't procced to do anything meaningful for them, or for brown people at all. it's just virtue signaling, homonationalism. you'd only care of brown people being queer, and you want the "brown" part of it gone as much as possible.
a lot of people say they want the leftist agenda to stop being us centric and imperialist, but then it's just pretending to care about it. you already made is so little and unhearable you'd have to get out of your way to seek for us speaking. then you'd not seek or if you find us, you will just pass by. hoping someone else would amplify the voice you took from us? and that someone else would hope for that too, so what?
you want us only when we agree with everything usa says about us, you want us until our lives don't put you into too much discomfort. when they put you into too much discomfort, you don't ask why, you'll restore the comfort by banishing us again. your tolerability of us is so intricately conditional, to meet those a third worlder has to build themselves into a first worlder mindset. this is your (inter)nationalism hey.
anyway, islamophobia hurt me more than islam did. now what

Community really was a miracle when you think about it. By all accounts it was frequently a shitshow behind the scenes, yet all the actors except the ousted racist speak highly of the show and express enthusiasm about the oft-teased movie the show itself predicted in its Six Seasons And A Movie quote/hashtag/premonition/wish. Origin of the phrase 'The Darkest Timeline' and that gif where someone comes in a room smiling and holding pizza only to find everyone screaming and multiple things on fire. The creator collaborated with the cast to incorporate aspects of their identities into their characters. The fans started a convention for it. A star-studded roster of guest stars, including John Goodman, Betty White (RIP), Giancarlo Esposito, and Walton Goggins. A social credit score episode two years before Black Mirror's. A clip show episode where none of the episodes the clips are from exist. TWO brand tie-in Subway episodes!!!

And it genuinely holds up. I rewatch it every year. And I find new things! It ended 11 years ago and I still occasionally get gobsmacked by a reference or joke or visual gag I've never twigged to before.

I wish I was taller. I wish I was a baller. I wish my cat had a phone I would call her.
Disarming hezbollah is Israels goal because it will pave the way for future occupation of lebanon. Thats it. This is a fact and not a theory because in the 1980s, the same thing happened except in place of Hezbollah, it was Palestinian militant organizations like the PLO. When israel was bombing lebanon and beirut, they claimed they were doing it to target the plo. America/Reagan negotiated between israel and the PLO and the PLO agreed to leave lebanon. After they left, Israel CONTINUED its invasion and a few weeks later they facilitated a massacre of the palestinian refugee camps (sabra and shatilla massacre), who lacked protection bc the plo left, (the israelis allowed anti palestinian lebanese militia to enter the camps). From 1982 to 2000 israel occupied southern lebanon, imprisoned and killed thousands. Why they left? it was the creation of Hezbollah (along with other christian and muslim forces) that pushed the israelis out. The goal is not to disarm lebanon and let it be, it is to disarm it to make it easier for the israelis to occupy lebanon.
Israeli-backed Phalange militia killed between 2,000 and 3,500 Palestinian refugees and Lebanese civilians in two days.
The PLO withdrew from Lebanon by September 1, 1982. Assurances were provided by the United States and a multi-national force that the remaining Palestinian refugees and civilians would be protected.
Two weeks later, the Israeli military besieged Sabra and Shatila and provided cover for their allies, a right-wing Lebanese militia called the Phalange, to carry out the mass killings.
The killing continued for 43 hours, from 6pm on Thursday, 16 September, until 1pm on Saturday, 18 September.

these photos were taken at my great-grandfather’s house. today they returned to find the entire structure, the surrounding gardens and trees, which are all older than the fake state of Israel, is now rubble.

Last song: Annie’s Song by John Denver, played in the morning because it feels like how spring sounds ☀️
Favourite colour: it changes often but currently it’s green
Currently watching: superstore (background show), jujutsu kaisen s3, fullmetal alchemist brotherhood
Currently reading: Hijab Butch Blues by Lamya H, incredibly moving life stories from a queer nonbinary muslim immigrant!! made me cry multiple times
Currently working on: draft of my thesis proposal for my MFA… I want to see how clay sculpting or clay as a material can connect people with their bodies. idk it’s all very preliminary and vague, lmk if you have resources or thoughts
Last google search: “how does fatphobia affect job opportunities” because I was debating with a friend who refused to acknowledge that fatphobia affects hiring, pay, and promotion. they were saying that it just wouldn’t make sense and it’s not “logical”, so I proved them wrong 😎
Current obsession: for some reason I am listening to and singing the phantom of the opera soundtrack again. watched the film and it was… not the best but still a fun time since it was one of the nostalgic musicals that enchanted me as a child. I loved the phantom and didn’t really listen to my music teacher when he said you should never trust a brooding man who wears a mask and a cape and takes you to his candlelit dungeon. not sure what that says about me …

Hey do y’all remember when Boeing fucking killed a guy last year. And we all said “huh I guess Boeing fucking killed a guy” and then went on with our lives. And everybody knew that Boeing had fully just fucking executed a guy and nothing came of it. Like there was no police investigation no justice no nothing. Like literally EVERYBODY knew that Boeing had full on murdered a guy to silence him and there wasn’t any consequences for them. Kinda crazy.
and there was even less talk when openai did the exact same thing more recently
So for those who are, very understandably uninitiated on this story:
On 23 October last year (2024) the New York Times published an interview with former OpenAI researcher Suchir Balaji who worked on organising and gathering data for OpenAI until 2022 when he begun thinking about the morality of it. He eventually came to the conclusion that what OpenAI is doing blatantly violates copyright law and decided to leave the company altogether in August 2024.
After he came out with this accusation he was set to appear in court to testify against OpenAI’s data-gathering practices, something which had the potential of being a complete disaster for the company and the generative AI industry as a whole.
That was until 26 November, just days before he was due to appear in court, when he suddenly and mysteriously was found dead inside his own apartment. Investigators concluded that the death was self-inflicted, something which his family has disputed.
There was also “sign of struggle in the bathroom and looks like someone hit him in the bathroom based on blood spots”, and his apartment showed signs of having been ransacked for evidence: “The pin drive is missing. His computer was messed up.”.
Overall it feels pretty clear-cut what happened, that is to say that OpenAI had him killed because he was a legitimate threat to their business, indicating that they are fully aware that the way they’re gathering data is completely illegal.

It's a fact that Lebanon does have a standing army but since the current Lebanese government is phalangist and Zionist aligned, the only thing that stands between them and Israel is Hezbollah but Hezbollah is very busy in the South.
There are zero benefits to aligning to the US empire I hope every vassal state realizes this. You're not free. You're not independent. It's better to die fighting than to live in humiliation and submission
Why do the Phalangists think that the Zionists would spare the Christians and kill only Muslims? Truly the biggest mistake in recent history. My heart goes out to the 700 thousand people rendered homeless by Israel.
