Hereâs a random update to my The 100/TWD fanfiction from several years ago. I read it again today and it sparked a need to write in me.Â

â L.S.
He lives on a hill somewhere.
Somewhere where he can see the sunset from the porch of his cabin. Monty and Harper live down by the river, and during the day, they work their land, cultivating their little farm. He raises chickens, because he needs someone to love and take care of, and over dinner, he tells them about Jordan.
Sometimes, Lincoln will come to visit them, but he never stays for long. He usually brings game though, and even if he never asks about Octavia, he can tell that Lincoln misses her.
Jasper is there too, living with Maya at the edge of the woods. They mostly keep to themselves, but will sometimes come over for dinner. It makes Monty happy, and thatâs the most important thing.
He misses them, the ones left behind, but he doesnât want them to come here just yet. He gives them time. He knows that one day, one by one, they will emerge from the big, open field, and he will get to hear Octavia laugh again. He will get to see Echo smile again. He will hear Murphyâs teasing again. He will get to hug Raven and Emori. He will get to tell Clarke that he forgives her.
He doesnât know when, but he knows he will get to see them again. His family. His friends. He just has to be patient. Any day now, and the first of them will arrive. He knows Monty and Harper is waiting for Jordan, and more often than not, the three of them watch the field as the sun rises. Just in case today is the day they are reunited with one of their loved ones.

A long awaited update to Omo Givnes is up on AO3 and FF.net. Hopefully this is the end of the hiatus as I start to take my health back. Comments are much appreciated.Â
hi im bitter about people not commenting on fics. im sad seeing all these authors get so discouraged because no one comments. it takes like 5 seconds! just do it!! dont know what to type? me neither! heres some handy pre-written comments for you! âI dont know what to comment! That was great! thank you for your hard work!â âThat was lovely! I really enjoyed this chapter/fic.â âHow dare you?â âAAAAAAAAAAAAAâ âExtra kudos because one is not enough!â if you read a fic and dont know what to say, leave the tab open, come back later! see if theres a line you really liked! tell them if it reminded you of something dumb! tell them if your roommate saw you crying while reading it and now your roommate is reading it!!! SHARE WHATEVER. BE INCLUSIVE! everyone wants to hear SOMETHING. silence kills passion. show authors you care! show artists you care!!!!Â

i donât think people really get how little feedback fanfic authors actually get? like the effort to reaction ratio is so abysmally skewed here that a fic nearly 50,000 words long takes an entire year to amass like. 16 comments. someone reblogged a fic i wrote at 4 am and tagged it with a 5-word compliment and i canât stop thinking about it, not because it was so nice but because half the time you post a fic youâre going to hear nothing and anything feels like so much
fandom culture is so, so good about giving artists the credit theyâre due, but we gotta start doing that for writers too. youâve got no idea how much people put into their stories and get maybe a handful of reblogs and a dozen-odd kudos. thatâs not enough. writing is an endurance sport and yâall need to start giving fic writers a reason to endure it and improve their craft. encourage writers like you encourage artists. reblog fics, leave tags, leave comments, acknowledge that these stories do not just spring into being for your entertainment.Â
every single damn writer i know feels like half of their readers see them as a machine. thatâs gotta change.Â
Consider also: Writers do not even have the opportunity for feedback until we are finished.
Artists have the ability to show off preview sketches, host art streams, and get feedback during almost every step of their creative process, and we do not. We canât really share outlines and half-finished sentences, choppy first-drafts, and have anyone get excited about that. When we say itâs an endurance sport, we really mean it. Â
Thatâs why it becomes that much more important to give us that feedback once we actually finish what weâve been working on. Â
âWhen we say itâs an endurance sport, we really mean it"
THIS.
And of course we write because we love it. We have ideasâBIG HUGE IDEASâthat we want to get out there, just how we see it in our heads, and be able to go back over and over it again, even if no one else cares. Of course we write because we love it.
But weâre human and crave validation. We create these things because We Just Think Theyâre Neat and want others to agree that the concept or execution or both is also neat and fan about it with us!Â
It doesnât even necessarily have to be about WHAT WE HAVE ACTUALLY WRITTEN. Tell us how much you love the concept or the plot device, start going off on tangents in your comments or tags or replies, because HECK YEAH WEâRE IN THE SAME BOAT. WEâLL JOIN IN WITH YOU.
Fic is MEANT to generate discussion. So donât think of comments as just saying âthank youâ. Weâre happy for that of course, but thatâs not why we wrote it. We wrote it because itâs a thing weâre really interested in, so if youâre interested in it too? SHARE SIS, WE ARE ALL EARS.
This.
Please comment, people, we donât care if the comments are small.
