Citizen Kane

Dominic couldn’t help but laugh and gave a shrug of his shoulders. “You have met my brother, right? Dude, his being here when I was in a coma was the first time he’s been present in my life in years and I swear it’s because he was after something… I still haven’t figured out what yet, but something…” Dominic loved Stephen, but nothing in the entire world could bring him to trust him unless Stephen put in some serious effort. He tilted his head to the side and gave a small nod. “Next time I choose to propose, I promise to ask your opinion…” He grinned slightly, walking around the desk to the other side to take a seat. “So what’s your opinion? Do you think it would be a bad idea?” 

“Yes, your brother and I worked together to help find you. Remember?” Kane teased, giving Dom a look as he let out a small chuckle.  “I will say, after working here with you and working with him, I much prefer working with you.  Even if he pretty much did give me run of the place.” He furrowed his brow when Dom said that he thought his brother wanted something. Kane watched as Dom moved to sit down, moving to sit down next to him. “As you should.  But I’ve seen you and Becky together.  You make each other happy.”

Dominic chuckled a bit and shook his head. “I will probably ask you to be my best man so… you better expect that invitation… unless we run off to Vegas or something…” He grinned a bit, letting the pen dance DJ Anderson across the second paper as well. He let out a small sigh, “I have strongly considered it, but at the same time… the last time I proposed, the girl broke up with me. I’m afraid of messing this up…” 

Kane smirked slightly when Dom said that he would probably be the best man. “Oh, knowing that you would pick me over your brother is so not good for my ego.” He teased.  He looked over at him, leaning against the counter after the papers were signed.  “Yeah, well, if you had talked to me before you proposed to Nikki I probably would have warned you that shes a bit... prickly.”

It was a pretty good workout once he managed to stop focusing on Kane which had been a rather difficult task. He had walked over to grab his water bottle and was taking a drink when Kane suggested the showers. He nearly choked and gave a small smile. Was he being serious? Was Cam actually passing right now? “Um…” Part of him was tempted to confess the truth. He technically didn’t think he was allowed in the men’s locker room, but the other part of him didn’t want to explain himself. “I actually didn’t bring a change of clothes so showering would involve getting into these all over again…” Not entirely a lie, but not entirely the truth. 

Kane picked up a towel and started wiping his sweat as Cam explained that he hadn’t brought a change of clothes. He made a face, shaking his head in disgust at the idea of getting back into the sweaty clothes after showering.  “I don’t know how you do it.  Once my clothes are wet, I can barely stand the feeling of them, especially if you have the air on in the car because you’re hot but then you get cold.” He chuckled softly.  “But, we all have our things.”

Dominic chuckled a bit, “Good, because if you tell her I’ll deny it…”  He teased, allowing Kane to move his hand where it needed to be. He blindly glanced in. Kane’s direction and nodded. “Yeah, things are great. Really… I love her so much…” He knew that it was probably odd and there was a generous age difference, but he didn’t care.  It didn’t change how it felt. Blind eyes flicked back down to the paper beneath his hand and he scribbled his name. 

“I wouldn’t tell her. She’s too fiesty for that. Sometimes she scares me.” Kane admitted with a chuckle.  “Just remember, I will feel personally attacked if you don’t invite me to the wedding.” He teased, nudging him gently. He watched him as he signed before moving the paper. “Just one more.” He assured him, moving Dom’s hand to the right place.  “So have you thought about popping the question?

Cam gave a small chuckle.  “I don’t mind…” which was very strange for him to be saying since he absolutely hated most people. He watched Kane before realizing that he was staring and that was weird. He turned back away to lay down on the bench. He had a strong admiration for most men, a desire to be more normal and like them. He glanced back at Kane before reaching up to wrap his hands around the bar and start his reps. 

Kane smiled softly when he said he didn’t mind.  He felt the other’s eyes on him for a bit but he had never been one to shy away from attention so he just kept up his workout in case Cam looked over again.  After a while, Kane was rather sweaty, finishing his work out he looked over at Cam. “I’m going to go hit the showers.  You coming?”

Dominic couldn’t help but chuckle as he stepped up beside Kane. He placed his hands on the desk in front of them and tilted his head. “Yeah, of course, I think that can be arranged… except of course, I can’t say favorite…  remember my girlfriend is employed here too…” He teased, giving Kane a gentle punch in the arm before he held out his hand for a pen. 

Kane looked over at Dom when it seemed like his joke about a raise was actually going to pay off.  “I mean, you can still say favorite. I won’t tell Becky if you won’t.” He teased, handing him a pen and moving his hand so it was in the right place to sign.  “Things still going well between you two?”

The gym was one place where Cam didn’t feel entirely out of place. He avoided the locker rooms, but otherwise he could be free here. No one questioned your gender when you were benching double the guy before you. Not to mention weight lifting, running, and the punching bags were great to let out the built up aggression. He had only one AirPod in his ear as he began to set up the barbell. He heard the voice before he actually saw him. He turned to face him and gave a tiny smile. “uh, yeah… I’m here at least five days a week. It’s a good way to release tension…” He chuckled a bit, “Nice to meet you, Kane. I’m Cam…”

Kane nodded, giving him a small smile. “Nice to meet you too, Cam. I’ll let you get back to it. I know what it’s like to have someone talking to you when you’re just trying to get into the zone.” He chuckled, grabbing his cloth to wipe down a nearby machine before starting to work out himself.

Kane saw them when they came in, giving them a moment to get situated before approaching them.  He knew what it was like to be addressed when he just wanted to work out but he also knew that part of his job was making sure that everyone had what they needed.  “I’ve seen you around here before.” Kane mused as he walked over. “You go pretty hard.” He admitted, slightly impressed. “If you ever need anyone to spot you, just let me know. I’m pretty much always around.” He chuckled softly. “I’m Kane, in case you didn’t know.”

As Kane spoke Dominic closed his eyes and sighed. He had been caught. He moved to stand up, rolling his eyes and smirking a bit nonetheless. He could see what Kane was doing there. Octavian’s cold nose nudged his hand also curious to see if he had hurt himself. “Both of us actually…” He announced, giving the dog a good scratch on the head before walking in the direction of Kane’s voice. “Anything good?” 

“Ah, well hello to you both then.” Kane smirked slightly.  He looked through the pile of letters to go through with him. “No, not really but there is an interesting one here for you to sign off on a raise for your favorite employee.”

“I feel like it’ll be last minute for our family but honestly as long as it looks nice I can’t see why it matters when it’s put up.”
