Just Kana

Kana sat and thought for a moment; the only sound to be heard was Sybil's happy gurgling and the horsey snoring of Farasi outside the window. She knew that Caius was... a bit intense. But yelling at his wife and ripping open wounds was strange, even for him.

Caoimhe clicked her tongue sweetly at the horse to get his attention, holding out a careful hand so he would understand she wasn’t an aggressor. 

Farasi regarded the Atlmer with ambiguity; he stayed rooted in place, even when she offered her hand and spoke softly, but he did not charge or bite or commit any type of awful violence. To Kana, that a happy miracle. Maybe, for once, she wouldn't have to pay for any 'equine grievances' or damaged property.

Kana shook her head and murmured, "No. It didn't."

Kana drew away from the bars and immediately crossed her arms defensively in front of her, her eyebrows furrowed. She knew Dagur'd be upset, but she had hoped he wouldn't be upset with her.

Kana frowned at Kora's description; she hadn't picked a very good topic to switch to at all. It seemed, to her, to be one of those times when nothing seemed to go right. But worse.

Sleeps watched Kana closely examining her form as she attacked the dummy. Her technique had improved from before and her blows seemed to be doing damage. It was good to see that she took direction so well.

At the mention of sparring, Kana white-knuckled the grip of her sword again. It took a good moment to release the tension, her fingers popping in a manner warranting concern as she relaxed.

Kana's brows furrowed at the thought of the Altmer tagging along on her hunting trip, temporarily or not; she tended to like solitude, not endless comments on the state of her face. Luckily, the womer changed the subject before Kana had the chance to.

“Hunting? I can help with that! I get most of the meat for my redoubt!” The majority of that meat was fish because they were easy to catch, but she was learning! She could track fairly well but the actual catching of game was left to her sabrecat, who usually tore up most of the usable meat. 

Kana's eyes widened, even her deadened one, and she, strangely, let lose a surprised cannon-fire cough that rang through the forest awkwardly. She looked around as though she was confused by her own actions and ended up speaking before she could think better of it:

That seemed to click in the Altmer’s mind that her new acquaintance was pissed. 

Kana bristled but quickly smashed her anger back down, creating an ache in the center of her chest that nagged at her viciously. She realized by this point that her new 'friend' was not at all sorry for her behavior, and decided maybe now would be a good time to part ways.

Kana stared at the womer for an awkward moment; the longer she spoke to her, the more she was convinced that there was some sort of disconnect in the Altmer's mind that didn't allow for much common sense.

Kana's hand shot up to her face, her fingers lightly resting on the curve of her jaw bone at the stranger's exclamation. It had been a long time since anybody had pointed out her flaws so loudly to her face. At least, nobody had who wasn't a child. Kana let her hand fall away and shuffled back few paces, attempting to but a comfortable distance between the Atmer and herself, but did not offer a smile or any sort of friendly greeting like she usually did. Kana was trying quite hard to gather her emotions into a manageable state, one which did not include the violence or screaming that Sebya was currently encouraging her to take.

Guruzo beamed rocking gently as he held his wife, “I got off early. I worked through most of what Sergius had to teach me,” he answered puling a way for a moment to look into Kana’s eyes and absentmindedly brushed aside a strand of his wife’s hair from her face. 

Kana smiled sheepishly as Guruzo righted her hair, a pink flush creeping its way along the crests of her cheeks all the while. Whether it was from embarrassment or the chilled air or both, she wasn't sure.

Kana sighed; the thoughts and doubts had been distant for a while, as she'd had many things to keep her from thinking much about things that didn't pertain to the present... though she had a feeling the next few nights would be the hardest in a while.

Guruzo traipsed down the road with his cloak on over his head. It was surprisingly chilly out that day in the Rift, more so than usual at least. Not to mention the storm clouds overhead had him worried. He hoped he wouldn’t be caught out in a rainstorm but prepared himself just in case.

It only took Kana a moment to recover when she realized it was Guruzo coming towards her; not Sleeps, or a locksmith... or a gutsy person to kick down the door. But now she probably wouldn't have to kick down the door, since Guruzo wasn't usually absent-minded enough to leave his house key behind like she had.

Luth paused in grinding the wheat to watch Kana carefully. Once it looked like she had it under control, she went back to grinding. She did give one bit of advice though. “Toss the stem in there too. It’s not only the petals that give off the effect that we want to extract.”
