I am not native in my native language anymore, I am forgetting words, I am not thinking in my native language anymore I am translating into it...
a while back I was grocery shopping with my fam and I wanted to say something about something, yk, as one does. but I needed to halt in the middle of the sentence. I couldn't fucking finish the sentence bc I was thinking in english and translating the sentence into german WHICH IS MY NATIVE LANGUAGE BTW and I just couldn't. 😭 I didn't know the word for it. I forgot 😭
anyway a nice language fact on the side:
the word for 'vocabulary' in german is "word treasure" (wortschatz) and I think that's beautiful. language is a treasure
