idk if i told the full story on here but i signed up for a research study where they were testing a new opioid, and it was supposed to be up to 5 injections increasing the dose to see what people could tolerate
i got the first dose and almost immediately fainted. they had to call in a whole medical team and it was a huge fucking deal
i was kicked out of the study and got a phone call later where they were supposed to tell me what the drug was, so i could avoid it in the future. they told me it was saline water. a placebo. i fainted from the placebo effect.
anyway, it's been a few months and i just got an email from the same department asking me to be a research participant in a new study: testing the effects of open-label placebo.
open label placebo is when the subjects and the researchers all know it's a placebo. they're testing the power of my mind. my power to imagine anything.

I had my first job at 13, working in my stepfather’s restaurant for $5 an hour, like 30 hours a week, in 2010. In the US.
I worked the fryer, the salad bar, and the buffet table.
I don’t believe any child should be subjected to labor in that way. It stunts you for life. Other kids played, and dreamed. Learned.

Every time I see a kid give up their childhood to work a cashier station, work in a kitchen, or grow food because their parents need the labor, I find it unjust without exception.
If kids need to be making money to live, maybe there SHOULD be universal child income, because working to live and feed yourself at 15, getting taken advantage of by your parents, working for illegal pay because you want them to love you more than you want the money, that changes you for life.
I have a broken tooth and separately an abcessed tooth. Both of the teeth need to go. Surgery is scheduled for Tuesday, and I have to pay up front. I do not qualify for care credit. The surgery is with an oral surgeon because I have complications that require that. It's going to be 2k in total, not including food for during recovery.
If specifics help, I'm trans, I'm disabled and at a higher risk of dying from infection, and I am the primary caretaker of two disabled loved ones, one of whom has cancer. I am in a lot of pain from this, and I cannot chew. I have eaten nothing solid since the tooth broke several days ago.

They may have operated within and supported the platforms mentioned above to spread fascist and far-right ideologies to the youth so that, by the time most become politically active, they're already programmed to be hostile towards and criminalize socialist ideas and leftists attempting to reconstruct community and class consciousness for the masses.

The post-election discourse on social media (from blaming third parties, blaming genuine leftists, to wishing death on the Palestinians, etc), our so-called politicians co-signing repressive legislation and standing back as the more overtly racist political party spreads misinformation and xenophobic messaging about anyone who isn't white and doesn't support America becoming a white ethnostate, might be the canary in the coal mine.
It is a sign of what they plan to do next to left-leaning people using platforms like TikTok to spread de-radicalizing and left-leaning information.

Hey All I wanted to share a resource with my US peeps that I was sent recently that I think is really nicely organized!
my local student union put together this great list of folks to call on different funding committees in the House and Senate (originally organized to reach out about federal funding cuts to research, something that’s been effecting me and everyone I work with a ton), so take a look at this list and give everyone from your state a call!
(For those worried about clicking mystery links the lists look like this and goes on for several pages 👍)
Since it lists all of the members in those committees that means that there are multiple representatives per state in most of them, which means that even if you live in a blue area you can find those red seats that you can and should contact within your own state! (You should also be contacting the Dems too! We need that overwhelming public opinion right now)

If you’re nervous about calling here’s a script sheet (it mostly focuses on public research funding, since this list was made for the National Institute of Health cuts), but the most important thing is just to call, say your name and state/zip code, and a real quick bullet summary of your concerns!
Examples:
I’m worried cuts to the forestry sector will raise fire risk
I’m worried cuts to the aviation industry will make flights unsafe
I’m worried we’re firing people crucial to our national security
I’m concerned that cutting research funding and putting so many people out of a job will stagnate the economy

etc. - these examples are mostly just for funding and staff cuts, but you can also bring up more bullet points like calling out Trump’s embrace of Russia/calling himself a King/etc. as constitutional concerns you want this representative you’re calling to address.
Pick any or all of these to list off during the call and then just keep rolling!

obviously this is like a single possibly questionable source and on wikipedia of all places but just for a sense of rough scale i would like to offer this statistic.
that is not a coincidence and that is not because autistic people "Cannot Contribute To Society" or whatever. it is an expression of structural violence which exists in service of the biopolitical regime of imperial capital and specifically to the benefit of allistic people.
and i know we Talk about autism nowadays as this kind of quirky trait, and the implication is that this is a form of Difference that Society Has Come To Accept. but that's just not true. autistic people continue to be the subjects of immense violence. if anything, it's just that the violence has gotten subtler, more insidious, in how it identifies its victims. "the vibes were off." "idk she was just kind of odd." "she was really awkward and kind of uncomfy." "not very professional." "abrasive and grating." the knife has just found a better way of hiding under the folds of the robes.
autistic people continue to be some of the most vulnerable people in society but especially under the system of imperial capital, where human autonomy is directly linked to potential labor output under a very particular paradigm. and when combined with the fact that the average autistic person is undoubtedly profoundly traumatized by how they are treated for being autistic, this confers a significantly higher rate of "mental illness" among autistic people which further forces us onto the outskirts of society where we are more and more vulnerable to exploitation and violence.
and like, obviously this should not have to be true to justify the cessation of violence against autistic people. but we literally keep the world afloat. do you know how many industries would shut down immediately, just completely collapse, without the specific labor of the specific skillsets of autistic people? and in particular, how much physical infrastructure would simply cease functioning? every workplace that is held up by "strangely, mysteriously" and incredibly disciplined and rigorous documentation, every computer infrastructural project upheld by One Guy's lifelong commitment to doing this critical project completely thanklessly, every workplace which is carried by That One Woman who seems to understand how everything works even though nobody else does. How many of those people are simply autistic people who have to hide this fact because we are targeted for violence for being this way? And if those are the success stories, the ones who managed to slip under the radar because they weren't Visibly Autistic Enough to get caught, how many more of us could be rotting in living circumstances where we are essentially kept prisoner by "caretakers"?
