So you want to make a self-ship blog…
I feel like there might be a need for a post like this. I used to get questions about this, and some of the advice blogs out there still seem to get them often. So, not that anybody asked for this but here it is anyway, here are some ideas for what to do with your blog:
1. Post content of your F/Os. Share pictures, quotes, and short videos if there are any. Reblog fan art that you like, or fan fiction that you like.
2. Make your own content about them if you want. If you like to draw, do that. If you write, post what you write. I’ve seen people post pictures of embroidery they’ve done and I’ve posted one of a necklace I made, all related to F/Os.
3. Gush if you’re feeling soft! Write letters to your F/Os! Sometimes you might even get answers.
4. Play the ask games, and send some asks back to whoever you reblogged them from.
5. Post things that remind you of your F/Os or are related to the theme of your ship somehow: aesthetics, links to music, moodboards.
6. If you have more than one F/O, put a list on the blog somewhere with who they are and what type of F/O (romantic, platonic, familial, etc). Most people do this on an about page of some sort. I only have a few so I just put it in my blog’s header. You may also want to indicate whether you’re comfortable sharing any of them so that other shippers know if they should interact or not.
7. Follow other self-ship blogs you like. You’ll gradually find a place for yourself in the community if you start reaching out this way.
8. There’s no one right way to self-ship. As long as you’re respectful of others, do your thing however you want, even if it seems like nobody else is.
