My desk with all my final pieces. I had a lot of fun through the process of this and I’m really happy with the outcome.
I really like how well the packaging worked, it was completely how I envisioned it. I designed the wooden handles and then got them cut. The handles are designed in such a way that it can be sent in the post without worrying if the thinner pieces will fall off because they will be on the inside of the packaging. To make this into a rolling pin you turn the lids around.
I transferred the logo using transfer paper. I had to mirror the image before printing it onto the paper so when I put it onto the apron it wouldn’t be backwards. I then cover the logo with a piece of fabric and ironed over it for it to stick. It was a lot of fun. It was the only green apron I could find and at first I wasn’t sure about the pockets but I quite like the idea of being able to put a kitchen utensil in there while you do a different step in your recipe.
The design for the brochure that will be printed and put into the packaging along with the apron. I used the hashtag #rollontastedublin as a way to create another way of promoting the festival as well as creating an good atmosphere before the festival even starts. I am going to print this in both white and brown paper and see which one I like the best

I decided to make a mood board for my packaging to give me a better direction. I instantly knew I wanted to use a cardboard cylinder as my packaging base to represent the rolling pin. I wanted to print the logo onto my green apron. I plan on making a brochure about the festival and on the other side have a recipe for apple tart in which you would need a rolling pin for. I also wanted the colour scheme to be green and brown to represent the company and earthy tones.
I took 4 of my favourite thumbnails and created a package design out of each illustration. I really enjoyed coming up with different ideas but the first idea stood out from the rest and I decided that this would be my final package design
I then drew multiple thumbnails that related to my festival. These drawings helped me broaden my ideas for my package design and to come up with the most unique idea
After my mindmap I created a mood board all to do with images about my festival. This helped me to visualize exactly what my festival was about and also helped me realize the colours scheme for this packaging; green.
Here I made 6 pages of thumbnails that related to Taste of Dublin. Doing these thumbnails helped me broaden my ideas for the packaging

From my decision, I went on to create a mind map that would help me further with drawing my thumbnails
Our 3rd brief is Festival Fun. We were allowed to choose any festival we wanted but it had to be an Irish festival. I looked into multiple different festivals but food festivals stood out to me because I felt as though the visuals would be really nice. From our chosen festival, which for me was Taste of Dublin, we had to create a package design that could be sent in the post to promote said festival
We got another brief to design a Mood board of a cocktail without using the picture of said cocktail. We picked a cocktail name out of a hat and had to learn as much as we could about the cocktail before creating our mood boards. I had a lot of fun with this.
I also did a mood board for my alcohol awareness poster to show the theme and colour theme of my poster.
My finished alcohol awareness poster. I played around a lot of different styles and continuously changed the size of the title and fact to find one that suited the poster layout and would also grab attention.

From my other 2 posters, I was completely stuck on which colour to pick. I made a poll on Instagram with 50 people to pick their favourite. It was very close, at one point it was even 50/50 but in the end the pink cocktail won!
In attempts to make the perfect poster, I made 3. The illustrated one was my first attempt and although I learnt a lot making this, it didn’t look as professional as I liked.
