I'm keeping an eye on this:
this instagram account came up in the recommendations on my account...
Only one follower, a throwaway that follows only @/youarehome and has no followers, but has 46 posts. Maybe this is where they test posts before sharing them on main?
And they're on twitter...
Same icon and this time there's a website... (I took this screenshot yesterday 9 March 2022. I was their first follower haha hi guys <3)
And then this is how the website (youarehome.co) looks:
The website is just this static image. If you go into the source code, you'll find that the door, doorway, background, and floor are all separate elements meaning this is, presumably, intended to eventually animate so the door opens.
but an algorithm and a door are quite a reach to make a link to something to do with Harry.
Another big hint that this is Harry is that this branding looks a lot like a homegoods store. But as far as I know this isn't usually how homegoods stores launch. So, what's the connection here to homegoods? Well, the public is aware the music video Harry filmed in London is codenamed Duvet. (side note: Will HQ wise up and sell cute bedding merch? No, probably not. But we can dream, can't we?)
Home is also a 1D song which has been embraced as an anthem by queer fans. The theme of home is thought-provoking given that Harry's music video called for a male date for Harry.
With all of that in mind, I was like, OK let's monitor this.
Now, today (March 10th), I checked on the twitter and it has two new followers with sightings of... print advertisements for a non-functional website? Yeah, real companies don't advertise before they exist...
Are these accounts plants? Possibly, but as far as I can tell they're not fake accounts (so please for goodness sake leave their owners in peace!) so if they're plants they are connected people who were asked to participate in this campaign. Or, the campaign is working as intended and roping in innocent passers-by. That's certainly what we're meant to see here. It ultimately doesn't much matter if this is organic or not.
But what it definitely is, is reminiscent of the Do You Know Who You Are and Eroda campaigns. In fact, the accounts here are located in NYC and Australia. DYKWYA posters, iirc, were first found in Australia. NYC was a big hub for Eroda, flyers were distributed there and burners were used to send photos of the flyers in NYC to people working on Eroda online.
Anyway, in both campaigns, it started with seemingly random advertising - posters, banner ads. DYKWYA led to the DYKWYA website and the Eroda campaign led to the Eroda website.
IF the rumors are true that we may have a Harry single on the eleventh or later in March... this might be the start of that campaign.
I'd say it's a bit of a reach, but the more I think about it... brands that don't even have their websites set up don't take out ads in international newspapers. So it's definitely a viral advertising campaign... and I think it's probably Harry.
(I mean, just look at how the ad artwork matches Harry's aesthetic?)
