It’s about time I caught up on all the recs since the last roundup! Once again, these are in absolutely no semblance of order. All of these are fics that I have loved deeply.

Deleted scene + smut with all the feels.  After Crowley rescues Aziraphale from the Nazis and saves his books in 1941, Aziraphale realizes he’s in love with Crowley and confesses his feelings.  They come to a temporary Arrangement - they will have one night together, and one night only.  

This fic will rip out your heart with Feelings while simultaneously fulfilling nearly every kink you could have about A/C.  The sex is, of course, sexy, but it comes from such a place of love that it’s impossible to forget it, and the added emotions make for a read that feels all the more explicit for its tenderness.  Bonus for Crowley and Aziraphale being fittingly poetic as they confess their feelings - it feels old-fashioned in a way that suits them perfectly.

This is another smutty one with feelings.  We have the exploration of bodies, Aziraphale’s slightly scandalous past, Soft Crowley who is desperately trying to be cool, and confessions that are both sweet and very *fans self* mood.  I’m a sap so I love when characters fixate on each other’s features, and Crowley’s fixation on Aziraphale’s thighs is just.  Ngkngkngkngkngk.

For the Angel Who Has Everything by triedunture

In which Crowley delights in giving Aziraphale little gifts and, eventually, himself.

Yet again, we have smut with feelings.  This one features one of my favorite headcanons of the TV fandom, namely, Anthony “Acts of Service” J Crowley.  Crowley is determined to give Aziraphale everything he could possibly want, and when the two finally sort out their feelings for each other, that ends up being himself.  This fic is porny but indulgent, featuring  a sexually-confident Aziraphale who is as hedonistic as he is vocal about his desires.

After thwarting the end of the world, Aziraphale begins to avoid Crowley, and Crowley accidentally awakens his own repressed lust.

This is smut with plot, feelings, and a generous side-dish of humor.  When Aziraphale begins avoiding Crowley after Armageddon’t, Crowley cajoles, mopes, and gets shitfaced by himself in turns.  Lastly, he begins fantasizing about Aziraphale in exquisite detail.  As Crowley tips headfirst into a wanking addiction, Aziraphale sends mixed messages about what he truly wants.  This fic gets bonus points for Optional Genitalia, Terrified Houseplants, and Husbands Baking Crepes Together.

Build Our Kingdom by Mackem 9.3K words. Post-canon, Picnic, First Kiss, Fluff, So Much Fluff. They go on a picnic together, and it’s just 100% adorable fluff.

An Angel who did not so much Fall In Love as Settle Into It Gradually by TheLadyZephyr 7.5K words. Canon-Compliant, Missing Scenes, Historical References. Aziraphale slowly but surely falling in love. Podfic available!

Stopgap by RC_McLachlan 3.1K words. Missing Scene in Episode 6. Basically just Crowley hating on Gabriel during the “Shut your stupid mouth and die already” scene.

Archangel of Healing by Nnm 9.3K words. Crowley Was Raphael Before He Fell, Post-canon, mild Angst, Recipe for Stew. Aziraphale figures out Crowley’s pre-Fall identity and A Lot Of Feelings are confronted. There’s so much delicious humor in this fic, despite it being a little angsty, and it feels SO MUCH like it belongs in the GO canon.

He No Longer Needs to Wonder by FinAmour 1.1K. Fluff, First Kiss, Sharing A Bed, Comedic Misunderstandings. Sweet and poetic. It all begins with a forbidden fruit.

Gravity by kaeltale 13.8K words. Fallen!Aziraphale, mild Hurt/Comfort, Getting Together, Post-canon. That’s right, I practice self-love by plugging my own fics! An exploration of what it means to be Fallen. Aziraphale helps Crowley see himself in kinder ways. God is a lovable bastard, and She ships it.

Across the Universe by kaeltale (WIP) 6.8K words. Moments In Time, Historical References, Pining. A collection of loosely-tied glimpses into Aziraphale and Crowley’s history together.

good for the soul by singingtomysoul 3.6K words. Getting Together, Post-canon, Confessions. Aziraphale doesn’t feel guilty, for once, but has some things to confess. Crowley doesn’t think he has guilt, and doesn’t plan to confess anything. On both counts, he’s wrong.

Touch by kaeltale 3.8K words. Compantion Fic, Non-sexual Intimacy, Music, Poetry, Fluff. Missing scene from Gravity in which Crowley is very overwhelmed, and Aziraphale is an angel… even if he’s a demon.

There’s Nowhere Else On Earth That I Would Rather Be by CartWrite 8K words. Post-canon, Love Confessions, First Time, Body Swap Fallout. Sequel to Taking The Liberty in which Aziraphale takes (guilt-ridden) advantage of the Body Swap to explore Crowley’s body while he’s in it. Aziraphale confesses his transgressions. Crowley has some confessions of his own.

the voice under all silences by ShadyCakes 12K words. First Time, Mutual Pining, Missing Scene, Service Top Crowley, Aftercare, Telepathy, Tender Sex with Feelings, Classical Music. After the bus ride back from Tadfield and the erstwhile End of the World, Aziraphale reaches his breaking point.

You Forget We Were In Love by CaptainSlow 51.3K words. First Time, Historical References, Slow Burn, Pining, Soulmates AU, Amnesia, Questionable Consent (that gets addressed). Aziraphale and Crowley were soulmates in Heaven. After the Fall, everyone has forgotten the Fallen, except for Aziraphale. BAMF Aziraphale.

Chiaroscuro (series) by @drawlight 18K words total. Pining, Forbidden Love, Feelings Realization, Love Confessions, Missing Scene, First Time, Body Worship, Stars, Poetry. If you haven’t heard of Salinity by now, you are in for such a treat!! Ad Astra is probably my favourite so far, because Carl Sagan quotes. The whole series is just pure poetry and I am in love! The One With The Love Letters by Davechicken 7.5K words. First Time, Grey-Asexuality, Demisexuality, Past Abuse (non-explicit), Healthy Communication, Explicit Consent. Aziraphale thinks they are dating. Crowley thinks so too. Aziraphale thinks he knows what follows. Crowley absolutely does not. An exploration of demisexuality evolving through a relationship. Brilliant, and humourous at times.

Rebuild you from clay. by JMA 8.5K words. DARK FIC, Betrayal, Angst, Philosophy, Good and Evil, Demonic!Crowley, Unrequited Love, Recovery. Sequel to Apple in which Crowley plays a long game with Aziraphale. Fuck, it hurts. Evil!Crowley warning (he’s learning, but nowhere near Good). “Crowley has a naked fallen Angel in his bed. And hands around his throat.” Exploration of Art and Pain, and it’s beautiful in a really disturbing way. Be Warned!

it’s the light (it’s the obstacle that casts it) by Handful_of_Silence - Aziraphale speaks Polari. It’s fucking excellent and so in character.

both of allegra @areyougonnabe‘s works greatest hits and it’s a new craze - both of these are just so well done and the supplemental material like the music and the fake social media posts and everything is just so well done and makes it all the more real and they’re both just such good fun to read for when you’re down. absolute teeth-rotting goodness.

The Cupid by maniacalmole - The character introduced to this one just fits so well into the book universe, and I love her, and the way she brings them together is very adorable. Heaven has office parties, both of them are clueless.

Salinity (And Other Measurements of Brackish Water) by @drawlight - this fic did something to me. it reads like poetry, and it does so well to pull at those little bits of longing and stretch them out. all of the symbolism and tenderness just eats away at me.

The Lightness of You by Rend_Herring - by god i know this one’s p popular judging by its kudos and views but if you read one fic on here please let it be this one holy shit. holy shit. it’s just like. its about the 6000 years, and crowley making the stars, and holy shitttt.

everything just stops by @nachashim - every day pj hate crimes me and they esp do it here. crowley gets dramatically drunk and in a fit melancholy conjures up and sits in a bathtub. it’s fucking excellent and soft and sweet.

Bad Grace by Quantum_Witch - When I was 15 I pulled up this fic on ff.net and pulled my first all nighter. I basically count this as the unofficial book sequel, as it sort of deals with the fallout and all of the characters it introduces are fucking amazing. There’s some bits I’m a bit iffy on in retrospect, but it’s very 2013 you’re-in-highschool-and-just-finished-reading-the-book satisfaction. Love it to death.

and, so on by @paintedvanilla​ - this one punched me in the gut. it’s so fucking excellent the way the story builds that when you get to the last line it just takes it all out of you. the longing in this, oh my god. and the imagery, and the–well, just the everything. i haven’t stopped thinking about this fic, truly.

henry @mortuarybees​ has a few that are excellent but the one that really got me first was  all i need, darling, is a life in your shape like the domesticity??? the dialogue???? aziraphale pining??? THEY SHARE A BED??? this is one of the first fics i read after watching the show and it killed me. good god.

Anthophilia by FortinbrasFTW - the best au out there i think. it’s just so sweet?? it’s basically crowley owns a plant shop, aziraphale is the new bookshop across the street, and they hooked up once in college. aziraphale doesn’t seem to remember it and look it’s just, like richard curtis romcom excellence.

Sudden and Surprising Moments of Overwhelming Affection by @forineffablereasons​ - this one got me good because it’s just. it’s about the pining. it’s about the talking for half an hour. it’s about the grandfather clock. it’s about many things and it kills me.

Potter Omens by sadaf - i read this in high school and it changed me. it’s such a good fusion and really builds up them becoming friends before getting together. the author really understands the characters from the book and builds this lovely little world for the two of them. it’s a good read for a lazy sunday or a late night.
