A while back I calculated the screen time for the first season of 911: Lone Star. I didn’t really like the format of the infographics I made (and I’ve also since moved blogs) so in preparation for season 2 and to satisfy my own aesthetic needs, I changed the format and I’m republishing the results.

I said in the original post and I’ll say it again here, these probably are not 100% accurate because ya know, human error. Also please don’t repost, or use the data without credit. It took me hours to collect the data and make these infographics… aka please don’t make me regret my decision not to watermark for aesthetic reasons :(

Not to be too direct here, but… Austin, we sure DO have a problem, and it’s called 911: Lone Star’s “disturbingly false sense of equity, diversity, and inclusion,” as evidenced in these brilliant, thorough, and well-designed infographics - ALL THE KUDOS TO JAMIE for being an honest-to-god boss!

I try not to say all of the less-than-positive things that I’m thinking here on tumblr, but it’s probably not much of a secret that, for me, season 1 left a lot to be desired. I know the show had its growing pains, I know there were a lot of rewrites all the way through production, I know writing a TV show doesn’t happen in a vacuum and there are a lot of variables and industry politics at play. Sure, whatever, but we’re not doing all of that bullshit for another year.

9-1-1 Dispatchers Week 2020

Day 1: 9-1-1 Operators at work

“What do you think you’re doing?” Wally asks, glaring at Dick as he takes in the sight of the Nightwing suit. Dick got out of surgery an hour ago; he definitely isn’t up to walking around yet, let alone going on a rescue mission.

“I need to find Tim. I don’t want anyone else to get hurt.” He’s defensive, but he must know that going out there like this would be signing his own death certificate. Right?

“Dick, you can’t keep punishing yourself for something that isn’t even your fault,” Wally tells him, forcing himself to keep his voice even. Dick flinches at his words all the same, takes a step back. “Come on,” Wally grabs Dick’s wrist, “just take it off and get back to bed, yeah? We can handle this.”

Dick twists his wrist out of Wally’s grip, glaring at him as he hisses, “What did you say?”

Wally crosses his arms over his chest and matches Dick’s glare. “You heard me. Take. It. Off.” He knows the suit isn’t what Dick’s referring to, but getting Dick off his feet needs to happen before anything else, so that’s the part Wally is going to repeat.

Dick looks like he’s going to keep arguing, but then his body makes the executive decision to end the conversation. Dick gasps and doubles over; Wally catches him before he can fall to the ground. 

“You’re okay, you’re okay, I’ve gotcha, you’re okay,” he’s saying, carrying Dick back to the hospital bed. “Let’s get this off of you, okay? Easy.” 

Wally slips the suit off, checking Dick’s bandages for blood. He doesn’t see any, but he intends to tell one of the nurses to check in on him. Together, they get Dick back in a gown and under the covers.

“Okay?” Wally asks, and Dick gives a tight nod.

“You’ll get Tim back?” Dick asks, pain evident in his voice.

Wally brushes Dick’s hair back. “You know we will. He’ll be okay, you know? He’s a tough kid.”

Dick doesn’t meet his gaze.

“It wasn’t your fault.”

“I,” Dick starts, then swallows. “If you die, I’m gonna kill you.” Then he pulls Wally’s face closer and kisses him like it will be the last time, which it won’t be.

A few months had passed since the lawsuit before he and Buck had gotten together. It was a night when Chris was at a sleepover. Buck had gone over to Eddie's house to hang out and watch a game. It was like any other night, but Buck seemed to be in the mood to talk about how much Eddie meant to him. For a while he just let Buck ramble on. It was nice, having someone care so much for you.

Buck kept talking until he was almost in Eddie's lap. It was like he got closer and closer with each sentence. Eddie let out a shallow breath before kissing Buck. He was shocked by how right it all felt. Nothing had ever felt like that. The moment they kissed it was almost like nothing else mattered. Things had been going on like that for quite a while. That's why Buck almost had a heart attack when he lost Eddie's weight from the rope.

Buck actually thought he died as the hole closed. A few moments later he was there clawing at the ground. He cried out for Eddie nearly collapsing on top of Bobby. In that moment everything faded into the background as he silently let Bobby pick him back up. He stood there looking at the ground as if it had offended him.

He moved toward the house. His intention was to ask the family if they had anything to dig with, but once there he could not move. He sat in a chair and cried. Hen rushed to his side.

"Buck can you hear me?" Hen tried, "Buck!"

"Yeah..."

"Are you alright?"

"My boyfriend is in a hole. Do you think I'm alright?" he asked.

They were shocked. No one knew he and Eddie had been together. They were keeping things a secret, waiting for the right time to tell everyone. Buck sighed, moving toward Bobby.

"We need to dig."

"Buck, we can't. We don't have the right equipment."

"Then, I'll dig with my hands if I have to."

"Buck..."

"You all think he's dead!" Buck yelled accusingly.

"No one is giving up." Hen said.

After a little while later Bobby formed a search and rescue team. He was going over what they were to do, when Eddie came up behind some of the rescuers. Buck ran up to him, helping him stand. Bobby went over and helped him to the ambulance. They started checking his vitals when Buck kissed him.

"I thought I lost you."

"Never, babe." Eddie smiled.

He kissed Buck and then took his hand, letting everyone fuss over him. When they got to the hospital everyone on the team started asking about their relationship. Neither of them planned on telling them yet, but things changed.

Chimney smiled at them, wondering exactly how long they had been together. He figured he'd ask later. Right now he was just happy that Eddie was alive and that he and Buck were happy. Maddie had mentioned to him that she suspected that they were together, but it was never confirmed by Buck. Everyone stayed with Eddie for a while and it that the team was happy for them.
