She had a steady hand, and as he sat still, he finished the last of the drawing. Then she got ready, and started with the needed to his back.

 “Dunno, might see where the evenin’ takes me.   Go from there. You?”

     He remained relaxed in the chair as Mindy started to work. Having so many tattoos on his back already, he was use to the pain. “Nothing really... Could do something together, if you wanted.”

He sat back in his seat, with a small, amused curl to his lips.  Now that was what he liked to see- someone willing to take action, to not take things laying down. Nancy lit up a cigarillo, then let the smoke slowly trickle from his lips.

 “You got it now.”

The jovial tone in his voice was gone, replaced with the deeper patois of long ago. The trickster part of him, a lover of chaos shined through. “You might be between a rock and a cliff side…   you might be low on options. But you’re not   a man to just stand idly by.    You are Paolo- a man of action…are you not?”

  “Yes, I am.” The spider god’s words only encouraged Paolo more. He sat in silence, his mind racing of ways to kill her. That’s when he noticed his Howlers sitting around, drinking, and being merry. Poison. Would that even work? He had no idea. But he was willing to find out. His eyes settled back on the god before him. “I have a favor to ask.”

“Although- yes there are opportunities that await  you- I come with a warning to beware of some who  aim to use you. Both completely strangers, and one  of your worst enemies.” 

The Outsider shrugged slightly.

 “But of course - you’re too busy of a man to heed  a warning.”

  As the outsider spoke, Paolo only grew more interested. Why now suddenly was he speaking to him? And why in the void was the god giving him a warning? Paolo would have to figure that out later. Right now he had to figure out who the outsider was speaking of. 

  “That I am... But perhaps I could make some time,” he honestly didn’t know how to even approach the god, “Would you care to enlighten me? Or is there a catch?”

“The kind that requires discretion.”

Although he had the con man’s charm in his voice- there was a certain darkness to it. The hint of danger. Wednesday had a knack of enlisting those into dangerous tasks- all with but a smile and a little clever wording.  Tricks from being around so long.

“All this old man asks is for a little time,  to hear me out. IF in fact, you are the  person I’d be looking for.”

  As the god finished talking, Paolo set out a couple of glasses and poured one of the finer whiskey he had. He passed one to the other. "You've gained my attention, friend. Not too many can do that."

“I hate to say it, friend-”

Mr. Nancy sat back in his chair, and raised his glass to his lips, giving himself a little dramatic flair before he continued. He polished off the drink in one mouthful, then set the glass down with a thud.

“-you’re fucked if you do, and fucked if you don’t.  If you go up against this bitch- you got a 50/50  chance of shit going sour. But then again - if you  don’t do anything- you got a 100% chance of being  a puppet. And your girl’s still going to be trapped.  That witch bitch has got you by the balls.”

  Paolo nodded as the god spoke, he wasn't wrong. Either way, Paolo was fucked. But, that 50/50 chance was sounding a lot better than being a puppet. Besides, this was personal. Delilah had his Mindy. He won't just sit idly by while Mindy was trapped. 

  The Howler leader wasn't even sure if it'd work but perhaps he'd try to negotiate with the witch. She could have him in return for Mindy's freedom. It wasn't much but he was the only with the black magic charm after all. "So it seems... Unless I decide to do something drastic of course... Could try to kill her."

  He folded his hands together. The latter was way out there, he knew that would seal his fate due to her knowledge of his secret. But she'd have to be able to kill him twice before sundown. Paolo would greatly take that chance for Mindy.
