Can we talk about the unique space created by the marauders fandom? I've been thinking about it for days, and I've realized this community is so special both in its commitment to the characters but also the creative collaboration necessary to bring them all to life.
This is a fandom built off of reclamation. Characters so undoubtedly integral to a story that we decided to expand them on our own accord. Who developed into people we can find a community in. Who can now be considered almost entirely separate entities from the near-blank names that they used to be.
Something so special about the marauders characters is the fact that they are entirely ours, the fandom. There is no show, no book, no music, or art that is "canon" to the story we've created, but there are works that we all indulge in just for the sake of experiencing them as much as we can, outside of our own heads.
Although the controversy of who these characters should be is always going to be under discussion, isn't there a beauty in the fact that they aren't the same from person to person? That there is a little bit of us in every idea of them?
