Two weeks ago, there were some very vitriolic and angry posts on Tumblr, informing those of us who still love Rumbelle or still love Rumple that we are, in no uncertain terms, supporters of spousal abuse.  I am still very upset, hurt, troubled, and broken from those posts.  I have never seen such horrible verbal attacks addressed to an entire fandom in all of my fangirling days – and I’ve been at it since the 80’s.  I’m also a veteran soap opera fandom fangirl, and we eat bitchiness and vitriol for breakfast, lunch, and dinner over there.  

And yet, this was still one of the UGLIEST displays of sanctimonious bullying I’ve ever witnessed.  More under the cut for those who don’t want to hear about it … . but I really hope you’ll consider listening … . . because I want to make this VERY clear:

The Rumbelle fandom did NOT sign up for shipping an abusive relationship.    

CS trying to copy Snowing and failing miserably / True Love (Snowing) VS Anti True Love (CS)

The no. of failed CS TLKs actually exceed the no. of successful Snowing ones. That’s how much of a fail CS are at True Love.

Ugh I know, same, especially because that was the moment Alex made up her mind to confess to Aydin’s murder??? Like, she’s tugging the blanket over Piper and stroking her hair and giving her the sad heart eyes like this might be the last time they ever see each other??? And she’s probably thinking about how glad she is to have gotten the real Piper back, at least for a little while. That if this is going to be her last memory of Piper, she’s glad it’s a peaceful one; the image of Piper sleeping, all cute and adorable and tranquil, like nothing bad has happened; Piper sleeping in HER bed, recalling memories of all the other times Piper has slept in her bed(s) – her apartment in Northampton, hotel beds they slept in for weeks abroad that then took on some semblance of a shared home, and hell, maybe even her childhood bed in Diane’s apartment, maybe Piper came for a holiday once and slept there or something (thanks @alxvse for this image). And Alex is picturing all of those scenes of Piper sleeping in all of the places they’ve been together and all of the beds they’ve shared, laid over the image of Piper sleeping in her prison bunk, and time is collapsing in upon itself and all that’s left to connect the years is Piper, because Piper is the constant, she’s is the one thread that stitches together the chaos of Alex’s last ten years, she’s the one inevitability and the one certainty. And if Alex goes and confesses right in that moment, at least she knows that Piper is herself again, and that Piper is safe, and that they love each other.
