To all appearances Ronnie leaned against the wall and scrolled through her phone while the others explained. She mightĀ have checked instagram; her sister posted a long shot of Sunny in the park (adorable). But mostly she triple-checked their plans, their reservations, their invitations, confirmation emails.
āWe have someone for that,ā Stefan assured him,Ā āWorking the security cameras.ā
āLooped static image,ā Al said, grinning in excitement. He must have been the one to work it out.Ā āHave it timed perfectly.ā
āMiss Oliviaāā Stefan smirked.Ā āWill have a car sent around to pick you up from your hotel. Youāll know her when you see her, trust me.ā
Ronnie put her phone away.Ā āAnything else?ā
Kennedy only shook his head after absorbing all the info. He couldāve chattered on, of course, but had already decided that it was not the time or the place for snark. Dumb muscle didnāt get remembered by shady heist men.Ā
With no more legitimate job-oriented concerns, he departed with a nod and a casual (and only slightly snarky):Ā āGentlemen.ā
The hotel booked for him was quite a bit nicer than the planning hotel. Which made sense, he supposed. Keep the undercover personas separate from the grit and gears of the criminal plots.Ā
Miss Olivia sure took her time, though. Even relaxing a little with a shower and shave, he was ready to go fairly early. Dressed to the ninesāor as close to the nines as bodyguards were expected to at events like thisāand comfortably armed, he was left pretending to watch TV while he mostly paced. He almost jumped onto the phone when it rang, but managed casual ease when thanking the pleasant professional woman on the other end for letting him know a car was here for him.
He only paused by the mirror at the door to study his reflection for a moment. Reflex to ensure all was in its place. But a few seconds longer to really register the fact he was going through with this. Then he took a deep breath and exited.
