As Andrew got sicker, he’d point to perceived smudges on our bedroom window. Nothing discernible to him. Not at first. But the decline in my partner’s health brought with it a growing realization. “It’s a face,” he told me. “It’s someone’s face.”

I saw nothing.

I sat with Andrew through it all. Every sleepless night. Every shriek of terror as nightmares tore through him. Every sobbing declaration that he wasn’t ready. In the mornings, the smudged face would be there, ever clearer to him. He was terrified of it. Still, I saw nothing.

Time went by while Andrew wasted away. I’d started staring more at the blackness beyond the window than at my dying partner. A portion of me found comfort in avoiding Andrew’s gaze. His was a gaze of sorrow. Of regret. He knew I’d be facing the same fate in the coming years. I begged him not to concern himself with such a thing, but deep down, in the vault of my soul, I resented him. His carelessness.

Say hello to the Infinite Jukebox, an experiment in looping songs. See those curves cutting through the circle? What this bad boy does is analyze the song for similar beats and sounds, then randomly skips between said beats forever. 

Yes, you heard me. Forever. With this piece of musical genius, you can literally play the same song for as long as you want - It will create the song that never ends.

Don’t worry, that’s not stupid at all! First, you have to Edit your theme. Then scroll down to the bottom of the window on the left, and click on Add a page

And then fill the blanks as needed. This is going create a page like my Episode Analyses one, basically a direct link to a “post” that’s not actually a post.

If you want to redirect to a specific tag, like my Comic & Stuff one, you have to chanfe “Standard Layout” to “Redirect”, and put the link to the tag of choice on your blog in the “Redirect to” box.

From Star vs. the Forces of Evil - Face the Music.

*** (NOTE - THE SONG LYRICS HAVE SPOILERS.) ***

I was fortunate enough to get involved really early in the process for this musical number, and I wrote the first pass of the song to the episode’s black-and-white storyboards. @arythusa and @amelia-lorenz, who boarded this two-parter and wrote all the lyrics to the songs, are endless fountains of creativity. 

Lessons learned about Patrick Stump: 1) he is very, very funny; 2) he is a freaking pro in the studio. Before we recorded each chunk of the song, he would listen to my temp vocal and then slowly pace around the live room and work everything out in his head, make a few tweaks so that the melody would best suit his voice, run those changes by us, and then we’d be off. 

And then later, I brought in my good friend Michael Kohl (who has a particularly wonderful YouTube channel with his band Extra Lives) to re-record the guitar parts and add some sick solo lines.
